I'm expecting it to be all right at the least. If not amazing, it'll be "typical Noel Gallagher" and that's good enough

DLBIA has 9 different chord changes in the versus' alone, it is not a very commonly used progression. it's based on Canon in C...really well known progression. it's more apparent on the live versions as the studio recordings have the pitch altered slightly.

I definitely agree with Noel's voice improving over the years. Best place to compare is the early b-sides and acoustic songs from 1994 - 1996 (stuff like D'Yer Wanna Be A Spaceman, Better People, Sad Song, his backups on Slide Away...). He had this quiet plain voice and maybe it's age or Liam rubbing off on him but he doesn't have that same quality to his voice anymore. Check out Sad Song from his last couple of shows and the change is huge.
The one thing I do miss is the huge power he sometimes carried in his voice in the early days...in my opinion it was definitely what pushed his voice over the edge on rockers like Step Out, DLBIA, and Magic Pie. They all share the same quality in his voice that I'm not too sure if he has anymore whether it be because he abandoned it for something better or just simply cause of age (he's in his 40s now...his voice is going to sound different compared to when he was in his twenties no matter how good he keeps his vox in shape)
But yeah. He's definitely still pulling surprises out. Can't wait to see what he does next.

none of you should consider that an album listen considering there's 4 tracks missing. i'm gonna listen to the tracks nevertheless but withholding judgement till i figure out how to split the mp3s for myself.

Oasis Be Here Now [Epic] Rating: 7.9 Other day, I was dragging my sand-filled shoes through the desert wasteland known as commercial alternative rock, the sun beating on me like a sadist with a whip, my brow the only moist thing in sight. I spotted in the distance some really pompous British guys with guitars who wouldn't give me the time of day, let alone water from their canteens. Some fucking oasis. These were the rudest folks I'd met in my entire life, and somehow when they turned up the amplifiers, I couldn't resist their instantly memorable rock music. Realising I'd heard this stuff somewhere before (whether it be from their last two albums or old Beatles records), I started to feel guilty. Then I decided. Fuck it. Oasis' third record, Be Here Now is, predictably, a lot like Definitely Maybe and even more like What's The Story, Morning Glory, but with a lot more pomp. What were formally unforgettable three- to- four minute pop slices are now six- to- ten minute long epics. It's like "Champagne Supernova" altered the course of their journey toward Edgar Winters' part of the universe. Regardless of whether or not it's "cool" to like them (they're certainly not as safe- to- like as some of my other pleasures, Yo La Tengo or Nick Drake), "D'You Know What I Mean," Be Here Now's first single, is the catchiest song of the year. So take your holier- than- thou, elitist musical tastes and sod off -- Oasis are cool in my book. hahahahahahahaha i dont even want to begin to imagine what pitchfork would say about be here now if they reviewed it today. its a shame that they havent reviewed morning glory of def maybe because they are earlier releases...if they did we might actually see a positive oasis review from pitchfork. and that 6.5 for stc is bullshit Shows what fucking idiots music journalists are. What I love about that review the most is that it was written by Ryan Schreiber, the guy who created Pitchfork. Irony for ya?

They are probably going to release Knebworth now that the band is over, the shows were filmed and remastered (check out the DOYS footage). No w the question - why spend money on remastering old film footage if you're not going to use it?
Not to mention the argument that Oasis wouldn't release a gig from 15 years old that no one remembers is a bit trite in this circumstance. This is Knebworth. This is just as important to the Oasis myth as the Gallaghers, the music, et all. If any casual fan remembers an Oasis gig, this would be the one.

Pitchfork 500: a book listing the best 500 songs from late 70s (punk) to the present list Live Forever as a top song. And they don't slag it either. Just mention how Noel is really good at making ordinary seem monumental and others. And to put it in context, the only othe r Britpop bands that got mentioned were Elastica, Pulp and Blur.
Same with their recent reviews, they all seem to say 'Oasis' old stuff were great, but that's about it' and you know what, that's a pretty valid critiscm. nto bad by me.

It's a challenge depending on how you play the song. You play it rhythm like Bonehead - then it's going to be fuck all easy unless you can't play barre chords. Covering Noel's parts on the other hand are more trickier and I'm talking about his rhythm playing not his lead.

Bag It Up has two drum beats, shitloads of guitars, vocal overdubs. I can certainly agree with Noel's statement that it would be hard to play live. At least not without rearranging it and knowing him it was probably laziness, because those two songs are EASILY within liam's range.
getting back to the topic, i can't see Liam singing Digsy's Diner or Listen Up. Hell, even Fade Away.

TBH, I always hated the performance videos. They looked nice but they just felt so boring, DYKWIM was probably the only one that had something going for it - the cinematography was great and the video's slow pace actually helped - I always thought the videos from the DM and MG era were nice... the DM videos were cheaply made but the quality gave so much to the music, watching shakermaker made you feel so fucking avantgarde and the imagery in the UK Live Forever was amazing. And Wonderwall and Don't Look Back in Anger. Don't know about you but those two videos are so fucking surreal...kinda wish Oasis had equaled those videos

I don't think he'd make a big deal of not playing Noel's vocal songs, not when there's only 1 (maybe 2 if you count the masterplan) notable Noel sung tune that people come out to hear. Probably written.

They might as well change their name, they'll be all the better for it.
Of course they could put it out as 'Oasis' and get SOME money, but how much is enough? Their record sales (even with Noel) haven't been great lately, and the majority of their money has come from their touring. And seeing as Liam is not into playing any of Noel's songs, that's pretty much it. Oasis' two main strengths were their great songs and their immense live shows and what's the point of the latter if you can't play the former?

They 've definitely gone off the deep end. Some songs aren't so bad, but others make you wonder 'WTF?'. And the amount of co-songwriters on this album, really. Fuck Raditude, it's all about the upcoming pinkerton reissue!
