He was supposed to have stopped before the DOYS tour too...it's hard for me to take into consideration his words that he "stopped"

I still think the whole idea was ridiculous in itself, but I'm glad Liam's came to his senses.

Disagree, I think they were becoming MORE raw, a few of the songs from DBTT suggested this but most of DOYS and LDSMD kinda suggested they were taking more of a bluesy rockish sound rather than their old massive pop rock sound. Even their live sound had kinda changed to adapt it. They still had that massive bloat to their sound tho, that never changed.

Just remember that IIHAG is supposed to be the U.S debut single in place of 'TDOYAM' so it would make sense that they'd release the two close to each other. We'll probably have IIHAG played in the U.K. anyway.

^ Yeah, what he said. It'd be a bigger indicator if they released something else from that gig.
Also, is it edited? I seem to remember Liam saying more stuff in between "Hereeee's Johnny!" and the beginning of the lyrics.

you disagree with their reviews, that's fine. (that was a blurb, not a review, by the way.) however, to say they have a vendetta against anything oasis is ridiculous. You're right, that's Pitchfork. ;D But yeah, Pitchfork is what's a vendetta. Rolling Stone has at least given some props to Oasis. They do not have a vendetta. They've given good reviews to Noel's solo set from a few years back and they post news of his activities. "Live Forever" was listed as one of pitchfork's top 500 songs. They've said it clearly a few times, they don't like Oasis post 1996. That's a reasonable attitude to have.

Noel's mentioned the whole process of 'starting over' and to me, it looks as if he's trying to mirror what he did in the early 90s. Write a lot of songs, keep them all away for subsequent albums, and the one important thing: have two albums out really quick. I'm sure if Oasis had taken longer to put out WTSMG, they wouldn't have gotten as large as they did in the 1994 - 1996 period and I think Noel's trying to do this all over again.
at least, that's my theory.

There was disappointment upon hearing TSOTL? Ummm, when did this happen? Overall, I like both BDI and Noel's single. But I'm more curious to hear IWLIAD(IMRM) and STC than I was for TDOYAM. It wasn't so much disappointment, I remember everyone was really pleased to hear it but at the same time we all knew it wasn't anything special from hearing the trailer. It was like 'great another Oasis song. At least it's not crap.' If anything, I remember there being a LOT of praise for Falling Down, I don't remember anyone complaining about that song, apart from possibly that it was too close to Tomorrow Never Knows. just saying.

now that i've seen it in high res, i'm kinda cringing...
it's not terrible but not great either. TDOYAM may have been an exception but I really hope the following single cover arts don't go with the same theme (ala DOYS)

Not sure what you want. Noel resurrecting Kurt Cobain and blasting 6 minute guitar solos while screaming Liam-esque lyrics circa 1994? Thank god someone else said this. That person a few weeks ago saying he expects songs like Bring It On Down and Columbia was just an epic facepalm moment. In all honesty, that's not a bad thing to say. Even though I doubt that would ever occur when was the last time we heard anything even remotely similar to those two tracks? Yet we've heard at least a few stabs at the whole 'hard rocker' and 'stately ballad' templates...

it's funny how people say it's nothing like the classics. i don't want to make that comparison either but i can honestly see a lot in this song that reminds me of the older tunes. people keep forgetting Oasis equaled Liam's bravado and Noel's pop sensibilities filtered through a huge wall of guitar noise. that's the reason why some of the hard hitting tunes on DM still hit harder than anything they've done since, and it's also why people seem to have adored WTSMG when they turned down the rock.
in any case, it'll be interesting to see what Noel does next but he's done pretty good so far. it may not be a huge rocker and it may not have Liam Gallagher snarling all over it but the fact that i'm still singing along with it despite me having listened to it for nearly an hour non stop- THAT reminds me more of Oasis than anything else.

i think it'll look better in a bigger resolution, the logo itself looks like pure shit.
this isn't bad. i kinda dig the vibe. apart from DM, DOYS, and SOTSOG, I don't think I've ever been RAHRAH about any Oasis album art. it's just there.

I'm caught in the middle for that. Don't really like videos featuring just bands and I don't like videos featuring none of that I liked seeing the huge ensemble of characters marching towards the town though.

there's also a piano in the chorus.
i still like the horns. i can't think of many old school Britpop songs that could rip harder than this, brass-wise.

in all honesty, i like this song a lot and not just because it's brand new. it's a nice little pop tune. i'll be disappointed if EVERY song on the album was like this though. i'm expecting something really good for the next single.

i can't hear much of the similarities apart from the melody and the fact both have a similar sort of sound. this sounds like it could go on DBTT but other than that...sounds perfectly acceptable.
