Spike Jonze directed Beastie Boys, Weezer, Fatboyslim, Daft Punk etc... His last movie is Where the wild things are in theater now.
Love the concept.

Some of them ideas sound really really bad. So glad they didn't do any of them

he directed a similar video for the band cake where people listened to the track and gave their opinion on it. same idea, just doesn't really work as well with this song that is explicit rather than implicit in meaning.

i think people on the street get excited and just try to say the most outrageous thing
which is why they shouldn't direct music videos

Well, the idea is interesting, I can appreicate that.
But the video that became the end product is much much better.
Personally, I like the whole band playing their song theme, like in Roll With It, The Hindu Times, and DYKWIM, and even LTBL. There are only a few 'storyline' video that worked for Oasis and TIOBI was the obvious one. I quite like Shakermaker too, even though it didnt have much story.

Agreed, it works for some bands but rarely for Oasis. Falling Down and I'm Outta Time were appalling imo. I liked Sunday Morning Call and TIOBI, but the best videos are the likes of Supersonic, Go Let It Out, Live Forever and DYKWIM that feature either the band playing or the band pissing about. Most post-2000 videos have been rubbish though. Lyla was a potentially good video ruined by some daft slag at some weird party thing.

oasis "performance" videos are often so poorly edited though. they suffer the same fate as the who's royal albert hall DVD where any one shot of a band member lasts for no more than 2 seconds then it's on to another. like the director has ADD
the best videos oasis made came from morning glory (not counting some might say). Morning glory is a personal favorite, but they all serve to evoke the period, albeit on a higher budget than the DM videos.

For me, the best videos are from Be Here Now
D'Yer Know What I Mean? - Loud, all out - over the top - just the band and their fans (shows just what they was about at the time) Stand By Me - my personal favourite video - love the way it is edited and the way it has several storylines running at once - just Love IT!!!! All Around The World - Proof that it went OTT - very Beatles esq but I just adore it

I think the idea about the butterflies and the birds would be a good one. Kind of like what the Shins did with that one music video. Absolutely beautiful....

TBH, I always hated the performance videos. They looked nice but they just felt so boring, DYKWIM was probably the only one that had something going for it - the cinematography was great and the video's slow pace actually helped - I always thought the videos from the DM and MG era were nice... the DM videos were cheaply made but the quality gave so much to the music, watching shakermaker made you feel so fucking avantgarde and the imagery in the UK Live Forever was amazing. And Wonderwall and Don't Look Back in Anger. Don't know about you but those two videos are so fucking surreal...kinda wish Oasis had equaled those videos
