I look forward to the quick release of the album, but come on, don't call it Oasis please. It's ridiculous. It's like Queen without Freddie Mercury, and we all know how shit that was.
Hopefully Liam comes to his senses and doesn't call it Oasis.

Not really, Liam is the front man. I don't really know why anyone gives a fuck what they call themselves, I don't see it as massively important.

Cant wait to hear the new album next year.If Noel hadn't left how long would we have had to wait for a new album 3 years? Surely this just shows how lazy Noel had become

i am really pleased liam is getting some tunes out straight away, he really shouldn't stick with the Oasis name though, just because comparisons will always be made to DM & MG etc.

So it feels that we have been fed a lot of lies... Will we ever know what truly happened? No. As hard as it seems, I really hope they manage to sort it out with each other one day, it's such a shame...
And yes, I do hope they change the name, at least.

"We've got all the songs done. Without Noel at all. Me, Andy and Gem [Oasis bassist Andy Bell and guitarist Gem Archer] are doing it. That was the way it was going anyway, even on the last record."
Sounds very true, like Spacemen 3 last album. Half of it was Noel Solo, The other Half Liam, Andy & Gem.
So yeah, This new album would probably have its AGN & TNOR, But it would also have its TBWTL & IOT! While Noel would also Have his FD & GOYHHL.
So I think Theres a power balance here.
"I'm not going to call myself something ridiculous just for the sake of it. We're trying lots of new names right now, but nothing's sticking so we're just plugging on with the music. Obviously we won't be playing any of Noel's songs."
Well i Must say, Id rather them Called Oasis than MoonDog1.......

Liam seems more brilliant and inspired than ever. glad to hear he's fine without noel, and i think a bit of competitive spirit is what is needed. now instead of one "very good" or "average" oasis record, we may possibly have two great ones. to all the naysayers, don't judge the new "oasis" or whatever it will be called by their past efforts. I definitely feel like Liam, andy, and gem are going to step it up big time.

If Liam and company can't make up a new name for the band then I don't see why they can't let the fans decide. Y'know, just email them names for their band, and if they like it, good for you! I know I've said this before, but I'm leaning toward the name 'Burning Sky', but that's just me.

I wouldn't mind them to continue under "Oasis". To me it is the music that counts, not the band name.

Said it before, will say it again, the band should be called Supersonic Lost Youth
Failing that LAG (Liam Andy Gem) ?? maybe? maybe not.
Either way, I am looking forward to the new album next year. Sounds like it will be a good solid album. Definitely looking forward to the tour as well!

They're damned if they do and damned if they don't in a way. They'll be slated if they carry on under Oasis (rightfully so) but whatever they choose is going to sound clichèd compared to Oasis.

Call the new band "Desert" because they'll be barren of good tunes

They'll need to keep the Oasis name as a brand to sell. The band will already loss mass appeal without Noel regardless.

As a matter of fact, the name of a band doesn't really shows what it really is. But, IMO, Oasis doesn't work anymore. if it doesn't have Noel, it's not oasis. everyone knows that. that's not gonna make me expect less from Liam but if he changes the name (i really want him to do this) he will show some "respect"(i didn't find any word better) to "those times".

They might as well change their name, they'll be all the better for it.
Of course they could put it out as 'Oasis' and get SOME money, but how much is enough? Their record sales (even with Noel) haven't been great lately, and the majority of their money has come from their touring. And seeing as Liam is not into playing any of Noel's songs, that's pretty much it. Oasis' two main strengths were their great songs and their immense live shows and what's the point of the latter if you can't play the former?

If they keep the name Oasis, it will be a total minter. Get a grip Liam, call the band "Liam and His Hired Help" if you like, but please don't call this band Oasis.

Whats the big problem with keeping the name? Oasis aren't Liam, Andy Bell and Gem, thats why. What is Oasis then? Liam, Noel, Bonehead, Guigs, Tony / Liam, Noel Bonehead, Guigs, Alan / Liam, Andy, Gem ,Zak, Noel? It was called Oasis before Noel joined, I see no reason why it shouldn't continue. A team doesn't change its name because the most creative player walks out.

To me Oasis was the Gallaghers, Alan, Bonehead and Guigs. They have been pretty much a Oasis tribute band the last couple of years anyway, for Liam to carry on the name without Noel just fires the final nail into their legacy for me. They'll end up like one these bands from the 60's who are still going without any of the original members in them. What's so hard about coming up with a new name and starting over completely new? I know Liam's vocabulary is a bit limited, but I would have though Gem and Andy might have been able to come up with something else by now.

Don't really understand this legacy stuff, these 18 years are recognised by Oasis fans and most people with a passing intrest in music as Oasis's legacy. Now it would be the start of a new one, it may be good, it may be shit but everyone will recognise the point at which Noel left and it won't reflect on what has gone before.
