I believe the noel used this tuning after hearing the Swedish band soundtrack of our lives. Their song “confrontation camp” inspired “Lyla”. Their albums “welcome to the infant freebase and “behind the music” appear to have a few songs where that tuning is used. I’m guessing when Andy Bell joined Oasis he introduced Noel to them. Andy was living in Sweden at the time so would have known about them. I don’t think Noel uses this tuning for RNRS or BIOD. On both songs live he plays with a capo on the second fret and the chord shapes seem to be standard ones. I’d not heard oasis use this tuning until 2003 when Noel played Stop the Clocks live acoustic at the Zanzibar Club in Liverpool. The Coldplay song.”one I love” uses the same tuning. RNRS and BIOD both use this tuning live from 2000 onwards I’d have to look at a video. I’m sure Noel uses a capo on the second fret for both songs and plays in standard tuning. I’m not sure what Gem plays but I never thought it was a different tuning

Today in the mail I got a Who Feels Love? CD single and it came with one of those cards you fill in and mail to get news about Oasis. While I severely doubt, would it actually work if I mailed it? Do they still send out Oasis news by mail? Can you tell that I'm bored Is it 3 Alveston Place? You can post it to them, but it's a residential address now, the original building doesn't exist, so it won't get you any promo material. louderthanwar.com/whatever-happened-3-alveston-place/It was a good way to get little things through the mail every now and again – I remember The Hindu Times promo postcard/flyer thing coming through before that was released, and you could get things like a box to hold the DBTT singles in too by sending off a form I think. The Hindu times one came with a promo poster featuring a photo contact sheet. One of my favourite oasis posters m.imdb.com/title/tt7318296/mediaviewer/rm2599362816/?ref_=tt_ov_i

So you just tune down to A but still play the chords exactly the same way? Seems bizarre! Most of the chords are the same but usually you would not touch the re-tuned string.

If you get the chance please let him know that we’d love to hear more from him, more music, more interviews etc. A great guy!

Some information about when the band were trying to audition bassists to replace Guigsy in 1999. Ex Monaco man David ‘Pottsy’ Potts was close to joining the band in 1999 as replacement for Guigs. Below are some interesting articles about this time. Believe it or not it appears he even contributed to this forum. This article from the NME dated 26th October 1999 mentions him being close to joining. Not much time before the first gig of the US festival tour starting on 3rd December. www.nme.com/news/music/oasis-1161-1393945This thread has a photo of a page from Peter Hook's 'Inside New Order' which details what happened during Pottsy audition with the band live4ever.proboards.com/thread/85655/remember-david-potts-oasis-bassist?page=1Pottsy contributed to the forum to explain in 2018. “Remember people, there's a certain artistic licence used when writing books, and a lot is (definitely maybe) sensationalized. Most comments on this forum/article below are quite complimentary so thank you. One is downright rude... but there are many presumptuous pillocks in this world. Only the people there at the time know what happened, mainly myself, Noel and Gem. I loved Oasis, still do but to quote Roy Walker... It was good but it wasn't right. As for Wonderwall, it just needed a tweek. 😉 X” live4ever.proboards.com/thread/85655/remember-david-potts-oasis-bassist?page=2Pottsy explains what happened in this interview with the Manchester Evening News in 2013 www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/whats-on/music/potty-to-blow-oasis-chance-1048809Never seen this before Andy Reid from Manchester band Plastic Gun Alliance was approached by the Oasis camp to replace Guigsy on bass. Reid finally decided to stay with his own band. www.nme.com/news/music/oasis-1176-1394830

Been reading through the posts trying to work out what’s happened, I’m a bit slow! As frustrating as it is at least we now know these songs exist!
@kylebhome I’ve been watching the interviews on YouTube you have done and it’s provided a real insight into the issues around collecting and sharing. Also your own sacrifices and money spent was eye watering! I had no idea about the world of collecting.
Many thanks for sharing The Morning Son too.

That would be amazing. I can’t tell you how many times I read that review in high school I guess a month or two before leak/release. Thanks. Thanks a lot in advance, if you can make it happen. Much appreciated. Sorry for the delay in responding, but it took me a few days to go to my mother's house, look for the magazines and scan them... but it's done! Additionally, I have taken the opportunity to scan other magazines from that era that I have found. There is news related to the band, announcements, interviews and SOTSOG reviews. *There are a couple of interviews that came in separate issues of NME and UNCUT magazine, so I have merged them into the same file, as I find it more comfortable to read. Well I hope you enjoy it! www.mediafire.com/file/8itypiagppy075u/Music_Magazines_2000_by_Ajito.zip/fileP.S. Lennon2217: the track by track review it's the file named "Melody Maker 19.02.2000" P.S.2 "The Fan-ishinquisition" (NME) is really funny. Many thanks for taking the time to do this, really appreciated

0:04 seconds into the video you can see someone playing on a keyboard or piano. I’ve never worked out who it was. Was that the director WIZ, Andrew Whiston I've wondered that too and my guess is that's him. I don't know who else it could be. It's a pretty good video too. A great video, good times. I believe the video is influenced by Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Whatever happened to my rock and roll.

Talking of The Hindu Times, does anyone know what the tune is playing at the beginning of the video is, or is it just noodling on the piano and guitar? Long long time ago I read that it was played by WIZ(the director of the music video) and Gem, but I could be misremembering stuff. 0:04 seconds into the video you can see someone playing on a keyboard or piano. I’ve never worked out who it was. Was that the director WIZ, Andrew Whiston

2000-10-31 Q Awards, Park Lane Hotel, London, UK Hargreaves explainer The fat dancer quote came from an interview Noel did with Heat Magazine 24th February 2000 oasisinterviews.blogspot.com/2000/02/noel-gallagher-heat-24th-february-2000.html?m=1So you and Robbie are not friends any more then? I've never been his friend. He was Liam's friend. Liam used to invite him to the gigs and stuff like that. I've been in dressing rooms with him, I've had conversations with him but I wouldn't even consider him to be a friend of mine. Why? Because he was in Take That! He's a fat dancer from Take That. Somebody who danced for a living! Stick to what you're good at, that's what I always say.

Downloaded the mixcloud app but nothing on there about the show. If the show was only yesterday then it maybe take a couple of days before it gets uploaded. Could also be a subscription mixcloud channel that you need to pay for. Yeah I’ll have to be patient. Frustrating as Gem doesn’t do many interviews.

Anybody seen this before?
Gem Archer had a small part in a series called West Heath Yard broadcast on Channel 4 in 1999 before he joined Oasis. He played a member of the fictional band Expo 70.
West Heath Yard - Episode 5/6 The action follows two faded 70's rock musicians Denny Lorimar and Jackson Gold running a near-bankrupt recording studio in London. They devise a number of make-it-big schemes, including trying to steer a shambolic group of 'indie' musicians to Britpop level stardom.
A well-observed cult satire of the music industry and early 90's indie pop, broadcasted on Channel 4 and S4C.
Denny Lorimar - Edwin Collins Jackson Gold - Sebastian Redgrove
Written & Produced by Edwin Collins, Sebastian Redgrove, Martin Perry With: Billie Godfrey, Thomas Whyte, William Collins, Stoppa O'Reilly, Chris Hering, Andy Hackett, Dominic Green, Pavlos Kryriacou, S M Jamal, Marc Reid, Keith Cullen, Ben Redgrove, Steve Hudson, Jenni Innocent-Cook Expo 70: Jake Black, Paul Mulreany, Chris Bowers, Colin “Gem" Archer
Director: Martin Perry Hothouse Production

Apparently Gem Archer was interviewed on this show between 1200-1400hrs. I am unable to find a recording and the website doesn’t seem to allow you to listen to previous shows
There was no publicity about this at all apart from Gem himself mentioning it during an interview on Virgin Radio this morning
