Just thought I’d add my 2 pence worth!
I think Zak Starkey is outstanding and adds something new to the band. I thought his work on DBTT was really good. I do think the band wrote better songs for this album and it was reflected in the drumming, for example Mucky Fingers (although Starkey doesn’t drum on the recorded version of this track its Terry Kirkbride.) Also the extra percussion on Part Of The Queue by Lenny Castro really adds to the track. Zaks drumming on Lyla, A Bell Will Ring, Meaning Of Soul, Part Of The Queue and Love Like A Bomb really do stand out. I though that during the Tour for DBTT Zak Starkey’s drumming was great. Particular songs that stood out live for me because of his drumming were Lyla, Bring It On Down, Muckey Fingers and Rock ‘n’ Roll Star. On the LDSMD DVD Zak’s drumming at the end of Rock ‘n’ Roll Star is brilliant. Also Zak’s drumming on Cigarettes and Alcohol at the Brit Awards earlier this year was great too. I really think Zak will add something special to the new album, I can’t wait to hear it.
As for Alan White, his work on WTSMG is outstanding and under rated I think. His drumming on DLBIA, Champagne Supernova, Wonderwall really stands out. The bridge bit on Hello on the toms and the opening fill on Roll with is great. I just think that his drumming when performing live and on later albums was not as good.

I'm not a big fan of HC as an album but individually there are some good tracks on it. The singles stand out really but to me the rest is a bit forgetable

i remember watching it live on Sky one. the was a pre gig documentary and interviews. bit of a let down at the time but it's a bit of history now.
at the time oasis were public enemy number 1 as noel had walked out of the european leg of the tour and then in front of millions of tv viewers all over europe liam is drunk onstage at wembley. people were slagging them off left, right and centre.
I honestly thought that was it for the band and they would never recover ... so glad i was proved wrong!!! :-)

Great idea for a thread! In no particular order. These are my immediate choices
The Importance Of Being Idle Go Let It Out Lyla lord don't slow me down Songbird Gas Panic! Fuckin in the Bushes Stop Crying Your Heart Out Let there be love
These deserve a mention too
Little By Little Who Put The Weight Of The World On My Shoulders? Turn Up The Sun The Hindu Times (You've Got) The Heart Of A Star Mucky Fingers Born On A Different Cloud My Generation (recorded cover on the Little By Little single) Let s All Make Believe
Maybe the band should have release 2 best of’s 94-98 and 00-05

the biggest show they've done outside europe (posibly england) was in argentina, 55.000 tickets sold out ........ and it didn't get any promo, the crowd was wild, they had to stopfor a second after lyla so to calm us down a bit this show was a festival not an oasis show this is the only show they played in argentina in 2005-2006 10th March 2006 Hot Festival; Polo Field, Buenos Aires, Argentina

On the DBTT tour they played some of the biggest venues they ave ever played in the USA. i think the gig at Boston tweeter center was the biggest. they also played some famous venues too such as hollywood bowl, red rocks and madison square garden.
coldplay are quite sucessful in america and on their last tour they played some big arenas.
i hope oasis will take the gigs up to the next leveland move up to some bigger venues.
obviously they are not in the same league as the rolling stones or U2 so i very much doubt they will be doing any stadiums in the USA.
what the band really need tho in america is good promotion by the record label. coldplay and u2 always do well as they do loads of promo. maybe a better internet presence will help too

Noel and Liam performed live with OCS covering Day tripper which was recorded live at the electric Ballroom on 9th May 1996.
Lisa Moorish is right "YGTHYLA was on the Japanse B-side of Some Might Say". It was recorded to promote world Aids day around Nov 1995. The recording was either played on bbc radio 1 or noel played it live acoustic on bbc radio but i'm not sure. i think radio 1 just played a recording of it.
again lisa moorish is right "Come Together was with Weller and McCartney" they used the name "the Smokin' Mojo Filters". this track was recorded on 1st september 1995 and releaed on the warchild or help charity album

i hope zak starkey stays with the band he was great on the last tour. i don't think he'll join tho. i think he'll just do the same again and record and tour with the band as a musician but not be an official member of the band

he should have played it when he did the japanese and australian radio shows around the same time october ish 2002.
I remember going to see them in december 2002 and noel stopped playing wonderwall because we were singing and played married with children in the new slower style. sounded really good.
on that 2002 tour he did different versions acoustically of don't lok back in anger, wonderwall, whatever, married with children and slide away.
should've should've should've played slide away.
another strange decision by noel. not as bad as putting the masterplan and acquiese as b sides or recording to many guitar tracks on be here now but still an odd decision not to play slide away
