6/10 it's post-oasis-noel on autopilot. he probably writes 10 of these a week. Yeah its a 5 or 6 really. A decently constructed song that isn't particularly good. After a full listen I can't even remember how it goes other than disliking the last third that seemed to take the bad parts of If I Had a Gun and loop them.

This is the first song in a while Noel's released that I've had on repeat. Beautiful track - is a Chasing Yesterday outtake like some believe?

If this is a Chasing Yesterday outtake, then my god, he really did balls up that tracklisting.

If this is a Chasing Yesterday outtake, then my god, he really did balls up that tracklisting. As I said, it's not a proper outtake/left over, it was an unfinished track he started writing at the time and then he went back to it last year Kinda like This Is The Place didn't make it on WBTM because he had the verse but couldn't write a chorus This is what he said

By the time this album comes out next month, this song will feel like we've had it since Chasing Yesterday. Hope Flying On The Ground is just as good.

The key is not to bring logic or reason to these songs. Bring your pure soul and emotion, and that’s where it hits you, and stays with you...

I’ve been wanting to repeat this song the last few days. There’s a lot of feeling in it and some really nice lyrics.

No need to overanalyze the words, or the meaning of it. Like Noel said in his interview on the late late show (and I know he has said something similar before), the meaning is in fans at the stadium singing along to a song that they enjoy. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy the Chief doing his thing.

7.
I find it hard to rate Noel’s output any higher. 8 and over is “hit” territory and that’s not his thing anymore. And I don’t mean that in a particularly critical way, I’ve had the song on repeat all day 👌🏻

The only niggle I have with the song is fill the instrumental bit before the final chorus with something.
But that's nit picking - talking about the bare bone essentials of a tune, it's class and one of his finest since going solo.
As with many of Noel's finest solo songs, whether that be Oasis or High Flying Birds, it does have a country twinge to it. The result of his father's record collection who would DJ country music at a local club I believe (the only worthwhile influence he had for Noel)? Maybe, or I might just be looking into it too much as I've been listening to a lot of quality country music lately (a genre I used to dismiss so easily for its tackiness but at leave the majority of nonsense and at its heart has some of the greatest folk music you'll ever find).
This is another good cover I think.

Yeah that was my thought too, a proper solo or something different with the instrumentation would've been nice and eleveted the song even more, but I've kinda grown fond of it as simple as it is with listens And I absolutely love the way it transitions to it from that "you don't know why" in the chorus

The guitar suspiciously sound close to Let the Lord + IIHAG... and CY yesterday tracks are kinda like a compilation, so it might even be older than that. I'd say backing track circa 2012 with new overdubs, voice and back vox 2020.

I don't know if it was mentioned but this is one of the songs Tomas Crow engineered last summer. I believe it was the song playing in the instagram story when it was panning over the cemetery

Yes - Noel is naturally gifted at writing these kinds of songs. That doesn’t make it autopilot. And it doesn’t make it average. There’s a difference.

I personally have had this tune stuck in my head now since release. I hear it all day in my head and I dream it playing as I sleep. Then I wake up and gladly play it again. The verses I find especially moving.
