Hi I didn't hear it myself, although i did hear a presenter anounce it earlier in the day, that Noel Gallagher was on Talksport radio to talk about rumours of the Manchester City chairman changing the club badge. The presenter also anounced that another presenter on the station had heard the new album and said it was a return to form. The interview was on Andy Goldstein's Eurostars show after 12pm. I don't think the website has been updated yet but I would have thought the interview will be on the site in the next few days heres a link www.talksport.net/

if its isn't oasis then who is it? I'd like to know I thought they both sounded quite good.
even from listening to the poor sound quality of the sound files you can tell that these songs have been proffessionally recorded in a studio. so if the general opinion is that its not oasis, then who is it?

true. he just did it because a couple of fans kept screaming "Stop The Clocks" the entire show... But there's no way the zanzibar gig was ever recorded, it's been too much time, things like that don't surface after 5 years... but don't worry, in worst scenario we'll finally hear it in august! I agree with you. I think the same think goes for the Astoria gig in May 2005 when they played headshrinker. that gig has never come out either. What i would say tho is, remember the gig at the Borderline in 1994 that was during the video shoot for Ciggs & Alcohol. that came out years later. I agree with what others have said in this thread, nobody knew noel and gem were going to play so nobody recorded it. Just one other thing! Don't be too sure that STC is going to end up on the next album. Songs come and go and sometimes they just don't fit with what the band is currently doing. Although i'd like to hear it, i'd be surprised if it was on the album

To be honest, I think that the success of the last tour was due in large part to Jet being on the bill. They would do well to find an equally commercial-friendly band to tour w/ this time... good point. they also had Kasabian supporting too but i think they are not that well known in the USA. Good line up really: Oasis, Jet and Kasabian Perhaps jet will tour with them again. I don't really know any other bands that are commercily successful in the USA.

Yeah i see what your saying d'you think we'll all live to see noel singing liam's, gem's or andy's songs? it would be really nice to see the gallaghers writing together too.. but i think it'll never happen well i'd never say never, but it is unlikely. a few years back would we have ever thought liam would write a song or even release it as a single. you never know there may be a few surprises on the new album

I think songbird is an oasis classic up there with the bands best work.
Meaning of soul, LLAB, GGTIA and BOADC are really good.
PMDTW and WLYD sound good
Betterman to me needs more work i think its an unfinished idea that they haven't explored to its logical conclusion.
And we can all be funny about little James but its better than anything i've come up with!
At the end of the day Liam as only been writting properly for a few years, it takes time to improve songwriting.

I have to say it does annoy me when they take so long to do a record but if its really good then it will be worth the wait. For me personally DBTT was worth the wait as i think its a step up musically from HC. The songs are better and the drumming is spot on. Hope the next album will be the same! if you look back at oasis recent release schedule its almost album every 3 years but they have tried to bridge the gap with other releases. we got lucky in 2000 with 2 releases! 2008 New studio album 2007 LDSMD DVD 2006 STC best of album 2005 DBTT Studio album 2004 Defienatly Maybe DVD 2003 2002 Heathen Chemistry Studio Album 2001 2000 SOTSOG and FTM Live Album and DVD you forgot that they also were out touring (US) in 2001 for the BL tour. Yeah i know about the Tour of brotherly Love in the US, but i was talking about official releases. I do think tho that the Tour of Brotherly Love was a really good idea. Although they didn't have an album to promote the band just focused on the gigs without all the hype that follows the band.

Listening back to HC I think DBTT is much better as an album, which is good as it shows the band progressing. I think musically DBTT is better than HC too.
To me on HC Songbird is a classic and up there with the bands best work. There are also some good songs too; SCYHO and LBL. I think BOADC is pretty good too.
On DBTT I think there are three songs on there which are up there with the bands best work i.e. Lyla, TIOBI and LTBL. There are also some really good tracks on there too such as TUTS, MF, GGTIA, LLAB.
I haven’t got anything against HC, it’s just the band has progressed and moved forward which is a good thing. I think oasis Mk2 (with Andy and Gem) is getting better so when the next album comes out it will hopefully be a step forward again.
When I first heard The Hindu Times I thought it was great, it sounded like the rolling stones to me, but as time has gone on I don’t really like it that much any more. I think Lyla is better; The drumming, the guitar solo, the tuning and the chords just making it sound great to me.
I’m not a great fan of Force of Nature really but I’d love to hear liam sing it and put some fire into it, although I don’t think he could do the chorus.
I’m not too keen on the recorded version of A Quick Peep but the version Andy played during a solo gig in Sweden in 2006 sounds really good.
Hung In A Bad Place to me is what it is, an album track, it has a bit of energy live.
(Probably) All In The Mind doesn’t really do anything for me. Its obviously influenced by George Harrison’s “Its All Too Much” which is really good but I just think they don’t take it anywhere different and explore the idea fully.
She Is Love is a very nice song. This is not to sound disrespectful but I think it should be a b-side. I think it would be more popular if it was, like a hidden gem.
Better Man I just think this one could be developed a bit more really, lyrically and musically. Not a good choice as an album closer I think.
I hope I don’t sound too negative about HC, when it came out I liked it. As an album I don’t think it’s great but there are some really good songs on there. I shows the band have progressed. Sorry to go on and on! :-)

Silly topic i suppose but just wondered what everyone's most wanted oasis bootlegs are, it if it was possible to get hold of them heres my list so far, i can't think of any others at the moment 16th December 2006 - Concert Hall; Perth, Australia Noel acoustic set with Terry Kirkbride on percussion and Gem on electric guitar Like a Rolling Stone (Bob Dylan Cover) & Supersonic Acoustic performances during the soundcheck 10th May 2005 - Astoria; London, UK Performance of Headshrinker. The song was dropped from the set list after the first gig of the DBTT tour. 3rd May 2003 - Bandwagon Club Night; Zanzibar Club, Liverpool, UK Stop the Clocks (New song), Talk Tonight, Wonderwall, Don't Look Back in Anger and Married With Children (Noel and Gem surprise acoustic set) What would you add to the list? that headshrinker from the DBTT tour is floating around somewhere I believe Unfortunatly I don't think it is avaliable either because it was never recorded or the person who has it has never released it. Shortly after the gig there were rumours that someone had taped it but would only release it after the end of the DBTT tour. As this was the first gig of the DBTT tour i think security was pretty tight and people were checked for recording devices, however someone could have at least got a clip of the performance on a phone. As far as i know not even a clip from a moblie phone of any of the songs from the gig has ever surfaced. :-(

I don't have a massive problem with the band all contributing songs and noel singing a few on each album, as long as they are all top top quality songs. The only thing i would say is that i'd like a few more noel written songs sung by liam. On DBTT there was only Lyla and LTBL, there has to be more i think.

I thing Lyla is up there with the bands best work, it completly astounds me that they weren't too bothered about recording it in the first place.
To me this song is like a celebration and was perfect for the stadium gigs. It just sums up oasis to me; a positive, let's ave it attitude celebration. Thats the feeling i got when i went to city of manchester stadium in 2005.
Noel may have talked down this song in the beginning but i think its a really good peice of music. The chords are interesting with the dropped tunning on the b string and capo on the second fret, the drumming is once again spot on by zak, good fills at the end, the guitar solo is really good and the lyrics are positive.
for me Lyla thoroughly deserved its place on the STC best of album

good thread mate, i agree DBTT is a good album, but you're rigt some of the songs sound even better live.
For me tho Lyla and TIOBI are both outstanding and are definatly up there with the bands best work. I think both live and the recorded versions sound great.
For me DBTT is a good album and contains some tracks which are the up there with the bands best work ie. Lyla, TIOBI and LTBL. it also has some other very good tracks too TUTS, LLAB, MF, GGTIA.
I think in the recent past the band have made some average albums but they have contained tracks which are up there with their best work eg
SOTSOG: FITB, GLIT, GP HC: SCYHO, Songbird
turn up the sun: Agree with you about this one, its a great opener both on the album and live. Mucky Fingers: The more i listen to it the more i like it. when played live it is really good, zak's drumming is outstanding. Meaning of soul: so much energy, sonds great GGTIA: The album version sounds alright, but i liked they way they changed it to play it live. A bell will ring: Not one of my favorites really, but to be honest i don't give it a chance and listen to it much.
