It's still subjective criticism Tom. No one is saying those 75% of people are idiots for liking it. No I understand that. Anyone is free to criticise the song for whatever reason they want but often those who don't like something tend to shout loudest (myself included), I'm just pointing out that the voting would suggest that in general among the fanbase here, people like the song. I wasn't attempting to invalidate anyone's criticism. In fairness, remember when we voted Oasis as the best band of the 2000's? I'd be surprised if many people actually thought that on here, but I think a lot feel a sense of loyalty to the Gallaghers (which I understand) and pressure themselves into either liking it, or giving it higher scores in polls like these. I think if the tune wasn't attached to the whole Oasis "brand", it would have got a much lower average score. That said, I think the opposite is true for the media at large.

I remember that thread and the worst was not Oasis being second, no, the worst was Arctic Monkeys being n°1.

I think thats a blade that cuts both ways whether it be the initial lukewarm reaction to WTSMG by the press or what I remember being a warm fan reaction at first to HC. Opinions change about a song when put in the context of the album that surrounds it or an album when looked at over the course of a bands career. It won't do to simply say if it wasn't attatched to the Oasis "brand" the score would be lower. Firstly because it is attached to it and we are Oasis fans and secondly you would have to imagine someone else singing it which would make a huge difference to a song that fans of Liam Gallagher voice feel has one of his excellent vocals on. I think its really unfair to suggest people rate it out of loyalty to Liam or that they put themselves under pressure to like it. That sounds much more like you as an individual coming up with reasons that explain the gap between your low opinion of it and what others think of it. To give credit to the fans that post here and who have been burnt before having high hopes for previous releases I think the reaction to this song has been quite measured.

Besides the fact that some people apparently think this song is perfect (this is not criticism, just pointing out something), I'm more surprised at the fact we have 315 active users that have voted for this.

I'd rate both Wall of Glass and Chinatown 9/10 but this song here just doesn't grow on me, sorry. 6/10.

I was never a hater of this song, but it hadn't totally caught fire for me but I have to say hearing it in the context of the album really brings it to life. Love it now.

I actually have grown to like For What It's Worth.
Somehow, and others have noticed it too, that first verse just gets you randomly singing it through the day.
The song is let down by the Middle Eight - something that has always saved lesser Oasis songs (I'm looking at you Shakermaker, Up In The Sky, etc). But it just sounds out of place and clunky, here.
I agree with Liam, one of the most Oasis-sounding on AYW. Solid 7.

FWIW s turning to a massive fav for me..be here now days are back...just bring noel n his guitars (imagine an epic guitar intro like stand by me) n fill wembley only with this. i cant get it out of my head.
love its lyrics. not even one stupid word. n so lovely to sing "For what it's worth I'm sorry for the hurt I'll be the first to say, "I made my own mistakes" For what it's worth I know it's just a word and words betray Sometimes we lose our way"
cheesy? no way. sincere n emotional yes

I've liked it from the first listen and it's done nothing to change that opinion.

That's it, I initially liked the song, but not in my top 5 .....but the way it powers in after Paper Crown makes it sound monumental and love the '.....still burning' bit. Its a brilliant and well written song

i suppose its safe now to say that FWIW is the anthem he promised...the oasis ballad... people in the forum seems to love it (see the results). spent many weeks in the charts with no prysical sales at all, much more in the uk i tunes charts (more than WOG), in spotify already with more than 11 million streams (4th most streamed post oasis song) and in youtube both videos with million views (with the live video going higher everyday). oh and its also a live highlight! in love with FWIW

To me it’s the heart of the album.

Now a 10/10 in my book. Absolute perfect pop song, I play it every day without fail.
If it would of come out in the 90's it would be hailed an Oasis classic for sure.

It's good enough to have been on MG in my opinion. Beautiful tune. Easily a highlight on Thursday night in Ally Pally as well. The crowd went nuts for it.

It did come out in the 90s. 4th track on Morning Glory. I voted 8 by the way. Not original but vintage Oasis ballad. Great live at Ally Pally earlier in the week too

Still around a decent/strong 6 for me. It's nice enough when it's on.

I had voten 7 but it’s an 8 now in my book. Really strong, always a great listen and perhaps the most commercial song in the album, everyone outside us fans seems to like it.

I'd love to see it as a classic or a 10/10 ballad, but it's just not there for me. It kinda drags along, builds up towards the chorus but the chorus itself is very mediocre to me - too close to generic pop imo. The verses are fine and Liam sounds great, but I'm sticking to my initial 5-6/10.

Over-rated, unoriginal & corny. Pop music by numbers. Cringeworthy and bland. I love Liam but I can't listen to this.
