But to say that the chilli's are bigger than oasis was is just ridiculous. Obviously they're bigger in the US than oasis ever was but not in the rest of the world. Oasis sold out Wembley 3 nights in a row at the END of a year long tour, after already touring the UK extensively that summer and previous winter/autumn. The chilli's still haven't sold out Croke park or any of their other big venues. because oasis is mostly an uk phenomenon and the RHCP aren't. simple is that. and i think the RHCP sold at least 8 mio copies each with their last 5 or 6 records except the new one. oasis didn't and oasis didn't sold out 3 nights at wembley. look at the pictures of the first night, it wasn't sold out at all

Ok, then, Noel's surely a massive RHCP's fan, all this Jam, Beatles, Kinks, Smiths, Coral, Dylan, N Young things was just an act. Guess he has "flea" tatoo on his shoulder and he's gonna join the band on stage to slap the bass a little. Happy? No one is saying that you should say that he's a massive fan. But to be presumptuous enough to think that you know his exact music taste is quite frankly unbelievable. He may hate them, he may love them, but none of us know. That's the point. If he was a little telling the truth about his music taste for the past 20 years, it's obvious he can't like it very much. Noel liking RHCP isn't the point anyway. The point is those two acts have nothing to do in the same bill. Noel gallagher's High Flying Birds/The stone Roses sounds great, Noel gallagher's High Flying Birds/Neil Young sounds great. Noel gallagher's High Flying Birds/The Red Hot Chilli Peppers just sounds wrong. If you can't see it. If you can't indentify the reason why it's wrong, (And I'm not the only one saying it's wrong by the way), well you have no clue about music familly or music type, and more importantly integrity.

howsoonisnow, why do you hate the RHCP so much? Did you ever try to listen to them properly?

By your definition Queen and Bowie (or Bowie and Lou Reed or Bowie and Iggy Pop for that matter) should have just stayed away from each other. Or how about Eminem and Elton John. Or Run DMC and Aerosmith. McCartney and Michael Jackson. Iggy Pop and Kate Pierson. Mary J. Blidge and U2. Alisson Krause and Robert Plant. Yes, let's just all sit in our own little musical corner and never get together. Actually let's stop all musical collaborations because they don't belong in the same musical families. If you're going to debate, please have some semblance of musical history. I'm not trying to insult you, but you're treating your opinion as if it's fact. When if you look over the path of musical history, it clear that the clashing of musical families is not only not out of the ordinary, but it has also led to really great music. Having musical integrity is the willingness to mix your style of music with someone's else. That's how genres are created. That is how new musical families are created. If we went by your definition the only genres that would exist are country, bluegrass, the blues, and jazz. Obviously RHCP and Noel won't be collaborating but to say that them not belonging to the same musical family is an excuse or reason that they shouldn't be on the same bill is quite frankly astoundingly perplexing.

Because Lou Reed doing an album with Metallica was great? And I like when Noel is mixing up. I'm waiting on his AA album, and I love his work with the Chemical Brothers. It has nothing to do with what we are talking about. Noel isn't making a record with RHCP here, he's just using their stadium gig to get a few more records sold. The fact that the two acts have nothing to do on the same bill doesn't seem to disturb you, great ! What's next to support ? Bon Jovi? Metalica ? You could say " great the drummer is a huge Oasis fan, hoppefully they're gonna make a record together, Noel will sell so much more record afterward !!!!!" If Noel had asked to RHCP or any other band of this type to tour with Oasis, most of you would have been furious. Liam wouldn't have allowed it. Now, under the purpose that he's "a new act", that doesn't matter that he's supporting anyone. Well it still matters to me and a few other fans apparently. 10 years ago, when Noel was sharing a bill with another big act, the act was called Neil Young. Today it's called RHCP and it's sad.

Because you named the one bad one that you know. Yeah, you just showed real adept musical knowledge. Let me think of the worst British group that's ever played in America, and say; "You see it didn't work with them. How could it ever work." The plain fact of the matter is that if you looked over musical history you would find multiple instances where certain bands who have nothing to do with each other toured and toured well. FFS Oasis were close to touring with Radiohead at the beginning of their careers. I don't see the difference between two different bands from two different genres playing at the same festival, in the same line-up, on the same night. But because this is a stand alone concert then it is different from everything else. Hey everyone. How about Noel not play IOW. Noel and Bruce Springsteen are clearly two different artists. It would never work. Come on Noel. We don't want to play any live gigs. Not only that you should play festivals either with other artist from gasp, different genres. It's too much for us. You're selling out. You were just playing with Neil Young. You can't play with RHCP. The world will melt. How will we survive? You know what, I'm done with this thread. It is very clear that certain people will hold on to their beliefs and their certain "truths". I just hope that none of you guys attend festivals. How you'll survive I'll never know.

How you'll survive I'll never know. Yeah I've done a lot of festivals in my life. A festival is just a gig you signed on. Band don't get to choose wich band they gonna play before and after. It's not the same thing at all. I've seen Jay z before Neil young once in festival. I didn't care very much. But if Neil Young was doing a tour with Jay z, I would find it crazy. See the difference ?

It's funny that you posted an All Saints video, since Liam is married to one of them!! (I'm going to speak like people on here) Are you a moron? Liam being married to one of the All saints was the common point.

I love this thread for two reasons:
1. One guy has managed to upset literally the whole forum, and yet will not back down. 2. gdforever is back to her fierce best.
Noel would given anything to have written 'Under the Bridge', and the 'sell out' claims are ludicrous. Whether you like it or not, the Chili Peppers have always been more hip than Oasis - let alone a 40 year old solo singer-songwriter.

That was always a strange pairing and from the gig I went a real clash of fan bases. You had Liam look a likes mixing in with guys that looked like Stillwater from Almost Famous. And what was up with Oasis playing before the Black Crowes? In 2001 Oasis was and still is the bigger band of the two in America.

How do you know Noel even likes this song? And I have a serious question for Red Hot fans, have Anthony Kiedis and Flea ever wore a shirt in their life? Do they plan to at some point?

Well since I don't like RHCP I must be over 16 at least. I'm sorry but they just look so ridiculous. In 1998 or 1999, all the dumass in my school were after them, their album was shit. When I saw their last video, I was shocked, they're 40 !!! still juping around shirtless, still making the same song. Guys, it's always the same song !!! One supposely ok album in 1991 and all the shit after didn't get me interested in this band sorry. Noel is just so much more class than this. His music is so much better. I can't believe I'm arguing that Noel shouldn't do RHCP gig, when I've told that to some friends this afternoon, they were as shocked as I am. I really don't get you people.
