I like some RHCP, but they can be pretty irritating. And people say Oasis songs sound the same? My God, try RHCP. Their formula tends to be: Rhyming gibberish mixed a guitar solo halfway in. So by this you could say that Under The Bridge, Gong Li, Venice Queen,Breaking The Girl, Wet Sand, Behind the Sun, Soul To Squeeze(and I'll stop here) are all gibberish?

Maybe it is because I love the RHCP, but I'm completely surprised by the hate that is going on in this thread. When I saw this in my Facebook feed this morning, I nearly lept out of bed with excitement. I wish I lived in Ireland. I don't know, maybe it is because I'm a big RHCP fan. They really are a great band. I love Mother's Milk, Californication, and Blood Sugar Sex Magic. Those are 3 phenomenal albums. They're a band who have combined Rock, Funk, and Jazz. For me they have always been a white version of George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic. That's soul music for me. I've been raised on Funk, Jazz, and the Blues. I just can't understand the hate. Hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate. I like to see two divergent artist who I love come together (except when it's Lou Reed and Mettallica ). I like two bands who may have different fanbases play together. I think it provides for a good musical sharing, I think it makes some people better fans of music, I think it helps make people less close minded. The kind of disrespect I'm seeing in thread is kind of talk that's usually directed against Oasis. If someone was hatin' on Oasis the way some people are hating on the RHCP, most of you lot would be calling them "closed minded." "Oh, how can you not want to see Noel or Liam live? How can you not think they're great artists? Why can't you have open mind about a band?" Yeah, I've heard those argument on this board a million times. It is saddening to see some being hypocrites when it comes to that. Some are acting like Noel has just licked the devil's ass and unleashed AIDS upon the world. Well guess what, he hasn't. No matter what some might think: he IS playing with a HIGHLY RESPECTED act. He IS playing to a stadium while he is STILL A NEW ARTIST. He DOES have a chance to maybe EXPAND his audience. He's playing with a rock act ffs. He's not playing with Jay Z or something. The Chills are a rock band. Emphasis on ROCK. He's not playing with people who are from the 9th circle of hell. If Beady Eye was given this chance, I'd tell them to leap for it. Because in the end, this isn't Oasis anymore. Both Noel and Liam have fairly limited fanbases. Liam more so than Noel. They obviously have to expand their fanbases or they run the risk of turning into niche acts, which BDI may already be. Even if Noel only finds a 100 new fans, you take that if you're him. That's 100 people you may not have had before. Anyways, those my thoughts on this. I only hope that one day he plays with Radiohead as a lower bill. Then this forum would surely explode.

You never know how much the RHCP suck until you had to listen to their best of 4 days in a row in the car. Believe me, that's something you're proud to have survived.

Some people really need to expand their musical horizon and not be so narrow minded. Just sayin'
P.s. I'd love Noel to support Lady Gaga.

Can't believe the hate for RHCP in here. Unbelievable, If it weren't for the chili peppers I wouldn't have even got into Oasis or rock n roll for that matter. They are one of the best American bands of the last 25 years by far. Don't care what people think, I bet Noel respects them for being themselves and making the music they love. Just like Oasis did!

crazy talk. noel was never a man of morality. he did everything to make oasis big. if you think noel didn't play the game then you don't know much about noel. he does whatever he fucking likes. he never did something to have a working class or against the media attitude. he wanted to be big in a big business. he's not what you want him to be or what you think he is. he is a media slut. oasis weren't that big without playing the media game. he slagged off like every band before am album came ot and said oasis is the greatest thing ever to get media attention and to sell more records. thats part of the game. he used the media to make more money So you're saying Noel is a shithead who calculates everything he does to sell more records. You really have a big opinion of him ! in the beginning, no. but he knows what he has to do to get more attention, so yes. i love noel for what he is. but i would never be angry if he does something what i don't want him to do. i wouldn't care

Not a huge fan of the RHCP, but I cannot deny Under The Bridge, Soul To Squeeze, Otherside, My Friends and a couple of others. Their recent hits have been abysmal, tho. The Maggie tune alone is almost as bad as the new Coldplay album. Having said that, I am not quite ready to buy into howsoonisnow's "RHCP/gay marriage leading to Justin Beiber/goat fucking" argument. No it was gdforever argument. I was obvisously being provocative about Bieber. I think RHCP are more respectable. But I'll never think it's a good think that Noel's getting lost into supporting bands like that. He would never have done it with Oasis and you all know it. Of course, he doesn't like RHCP music. I've been listening to Noel's itw for 10 years, I think I have an idea of what kind of music he likes. And at the Jools holland thing, where they've probably met, the RDCP looked bored while watching Noel. I don't see "a great friendship coming into the mixing of two musical universe", I see buiseness. I see Noel opening for a band that's way beneath him and two that don't belong together at all sold as a package with a hot dog and a day out.

I love that you believe that you can read everyone's mind. Of course he wouldn't have supported while in Oasis. That might be because he was in Oasis. For him to sit on his high horse and still think he's the guy who sold 55 million albums would just be sad and pathetic. Because he's not. He's not in a big band anymore. This isn't Oasis supporting, this is NOEL supporting. This isn't 1996, this is 2011 (well in that year 2012). He's been using his reputation and his past glories as a crutch for far too long. And it's amazing to see fans enabling him to do so. He needs to expand his audience. These chances do not come along very often and there are very few way to expand the people you are playing to. This is one of few avenues that he can pursue other than appearing on Late Night Talk/Music Shows or doing interviews.

Only a mongoloid would get this angry about Noel opening for a band they don't personally like.
Noel is trying to take his solo career as far as it can go within reason. Playing in front of a new audience is a good idea. Even if it WAS Beiber, it would be brilliant from a business standpoint. As hardcore fans it would be painful to watch, but we'd all hope it would convert to increased sales so what's the big deal?
There are more interesting things to discuss like why the fuck Freaky Teeth hasn't been released yet. Who gives a shit about RHCP.

You would all sell your grandma if it would help Noel selling 3 more records. You are ridiculous for saying things like that. I don't care if Noel sell 3 records or 3 million as long as he does it with integrity. I'm not obsessed by his selling. Travel the world to see an artist live multiple times, buying all his realesed singles and album, paying attention to his actuality and respect the artist : that's being a massive fan. Want him to sell out to sell more records, it's called managment. It's not your job or your problem. It has nothing to do with being a fan to dream Noel would appeal to Biebers fans or gets 3 more fans by supporting RHCP.

Some of the reactions here are so wrong. It's not like he's opening for Coldplay or Black Eyed Peas, RHCP are a good rock band with a huge fanbase, and I imagine that quite some RHCP fans could get into Noel. If anything, I'm surprised Noel is doing this, but pleasantly surprised...

He's opening 1 gig for a rock band that is massive on the live front. He is hardly getting lost in being a support act. Sure Oasis would never have opened for RHCP in Ireland...or most places in the world. But Noel isn't in Oasis anymore. He can't fill a stadium like that, Oasis could have. He will benefit from playing in front of tens of thousands of people who like rock music who may or may not have heard his album yet. I've never heard Noel say anything negative about RHCP in all the interviews I have listened to. YOU don't like them. Doesn't mean Noel doesn't. I have a feeling that Noel's musical interested are more eclectic than yours. Your musical taste is probably more in line with Liam. Just having you as a fan isn't enough regardless of how much you travel. I don't think you buy enough t-shirts to fund his albums.

When did it become a negative thing to hope that other people would come to appreciate an artists you love?
I would love for people to get into Oasis and Noel any way that it happens. Be it a late night show, a tune on the radio, as a support act for a bigger band, or on an advert.
But every time Noel does something to promote his album there is someone on here complaining that that thing is "beneath him."
I love that he is grafting it.

Poor Noel will have to eat noodles for the rest of his life if he wasn't supporting the RHCP. And just to be clear, I've never Noel has slagged off the RHCP, maybe he even likes the first records a little, but there's no way Noel likes the shits they made for the last 15 years. As for Noel not beig big enough to sell stadium, there's another thing, I don't think HFB are made for stadium at all. He had Oasis to do that. He's at another point of his carreer, I didn't think all this respectable singer songwritter act everyone was talking about was there to end supporting californian twats.

How is playing with a fellow Rock band selling out? Am I hearing this right? This is one of the most ludicrous statements I've seen on this forum. That's like saying Nirvana has sold out because they're playing with the Ramones. And what's the point of calling them "californian twats"? What does their geography have to do with anything? And again, how do you know what Noe likes and what he doesn't? So many question, yet so few respectable answers.

Sad to see that it has become 'cool' to dislike RHCP. They are one of the best bands of the last 30 years, yet people slate them because of their looks. How sad
Noel fans should feel proud that he has the opportunity to support such a great band

I love the chilli's I think they're a great band. I'd actually go to this gig as its close by except for the fact that all the standing tickets are sold out. But to say that the chilli's are bigger than oasis was is just ridiculous. Obviously they're bigger in the US than oasis ever was but not in the rest of the world. Oasis sold out Wembley 3 nights in a row at the END of a year long tour, after already touring the UK extensively that summer and previous winter/autumn. The chilli's still haven't sold out Croke park or any of their other big venues.
I'm not slagging the chilli's as I love the band, own most of their albums and their new album is in heavy rotation in my car stereo but I just don't think they're bigger than Oasis were.
If anything I'd predict Noel was just asked to play in order to quickly sell out the remaining tickets, as he's already sold out all of his gigs in Ireland instantly.
Still don't agree with Noel and RHCP being on the same bill

Guess he has "flea" tatoo on his shoulder and he's gonna join the band on stage to slap the bass a little. Happy?

That's the point.
