RHCP are also playing Knebworth - guess it would be a bit weird for Noel to support there?

It's ridiculous, if he wants to support someone it should be The Stone Roses. Supporting those skaters twats of RHCP is beneath him.

what the fuck is he doing support the chillis?? two completely different styles! not a single person who goes to see the chillis will be the slightest bit interested in seeing noel.
it's kinda sad seeing as two years ago he was lead guitarist for a band 10 times bigger than them, and had songs 10 times better...

In fact, as soon as I saw the news this morning, I jumped out of bed screaming "I hope he does Knebworth as well!"

Red hot chilli peppers are ridiculous californian twats still jumping around topless at 40. They haven't made a decent song in 20 years, assuming they've ever made one.
They're just so differents, they have nothing to do with Noel. And I'm not sure Noel's show at the moment is made for stadium as well.
Come on Noel I know you miss stadium...but opening for those skaters.... you deserve better than that.

The Chili Peppers have been bigger than Oasis for the best part of the last fifteen years. I'm not sure why they are playing Knebworth though, I mean they aren't THAT big. They could have played it seven years ago, but they're not as big anymore. Either way its good exposure for Noel to the young uns alternative and commercial rock fans that make up the Chili Pepper's fan base. There's only one downside, Noel's tame live act will be blown in the water by the Chilis.

Why all the hate for RHCP? Sure, they're last 2-3 albums suck but they made som really good music in the 90's. And they are a really big global act, just like Oasis was. + you gotta love Flea, he's f****** nuts

I don't know that RHCP is a larger global act than Oasis was but in either case this just strikes me as odd. Maybe for his next project Noel and Flea will form a band with Graham Coxon and Larry Mullen...They could name themselves "Turkeywing".

It's just a matter of music family. Noel doesn't belong in the same family as RHCP, he belongs with classy brit rock act like the stones roses, the smiths, the verve, the kinks, the beatles, blur, the list goes on and on.
A californian band playing topless for 20 years, having tatoos, juping around, with ridiculous hair, stands against everything Oasis represents in music.
It's truly shocking that Noel opens for them. I don't get why you don't see it. It's moral thing. Noel would never have allowed this with Oasis.

This is no different than say a festival were bands are meshed together at random. RHCP have given Noel a chance to play for some younger music fans, and that can NEVER be a bad thing. Will it boost Noel's sales or popularity? Probably not, but it should make for some good theater.
[When I first saw the headline I was really hoping he would be opening during their US tour next spring. They come to Dallas, and I would be there for sure!]

Not surprised at all by some of the reactions on here. Any time Noel or BDI can play for a new audience, it's a good thing. Even if only 100 people like it out of thousands, that's 100 people that might share it with their friends etc etc.
New ears are never a bad thing.

Oasis is now morally superior to the Red Hot Chili Peppers because of hair, tattoos and jumping around? Noel should only play with bands that look similar to him? Are you some arch-villain parent railing against the longhairs from a bad film set in the 1960s? The close-mindedness of this post is staggering. Hence all of the question marks. A moral thing for Noel, he spent the last 20 years to slag off every band for whom he has no respect and that didn't belong in his music family, from blink 182 to Alice in chains. And now he opens for RHCP to gain some teeangers with yellow hair getting vaguely interested in him while he's gonna play wonderwall. And yelling "fleeeaaaa" during his set. It's embarassing. Of course I'm close minded about music, you have to be otherwise you would consider Noel opening for Bieber is great thing since it's gonna bring young hears to Noel. Your lack of morality for music is shoking, as if you would let Noel make a Muse cover to have 3 more album sold.
