Saw the RHCP live and they were great! Rocking. A singer that could sing! That Fruiscante guy was absolutly fantatsic! Mental! Didn`t care what they were looking like. I loved the Oasisstyle of the 90s when they seemed not to give a fuck about clobber. From 2005 onwards I felt ashamed for the way Liam dressed sometimes.. Liam could go topless as often as he wants, when he could do some great singing!
Sure the RHCP have a (by now) tired formula going on regarding their singles but the albums were enjoyable, sometimes really good.
Did you know Noel likes DJ Shadow? A HipHop/MPC-sampling based artist? Have you ever listened to the sets Noel combined as a DJ? Some surprises for your taste to find..
Maybe Noel and the chillis had a lough after the TV-show and thought it would be nice to play a gig in Ireland together. Opportunities for both. Would`ve loved an OASIS/RHCP Tour in the US! That could`ve made them bigger there.

i don't get what some of you are so upset about. The chili peppers are one of the best and biggest rock bands that are still going. Noel has always spoken highly of them, he likes them and so do i... now, does that mean that i like all their songs, no... but they do have some brilliant tunes and i respect the heck out of those guys.
What's so bad of opening for them? Contrary to what you might've read on here or on a comment box on youtube, Noel is NOT Oasis, therefore he doesn't get to do, say or act how he used to when he was in Oasis. He's now a pop 'N' folk singer songwriter.

...The rest of the comments disappeared? Did somebody remove them? They're not even in the playpen! Those are hardly trolling... Edit:Okay, they're back. Proboards are really confusing sometimes.

the big argument a few people are giving here is that "oh they are two different types of act and wont work well together, fans will be too different aswell"
how on earth do you think festivals work? do you envisage the same person x80,000 watching all the same acts all day..
Glasto 08 had Jay Z and Seasick Steve on the same bill, people just enjoyed the show.

I was looking at Twitter and there were several people complaining about having to pick between Noel and Kanye West at the BDO
Fact is that the average music fan nowadays is pretty eclectic.

Too bad he's not opening for them in the US... In a similar way to Muse opening for U2, that really jumpstarted their carrer in the US!

I think it would do Noel some major good in the US to be on a the bill with a big US act over there. It's the one thing that surprised me. That he would open for them in Ireland of all places

yes that seemed odd... well i guess even in ireland, noel as a solo act is not stadium material just yet...
as for noel's musical taste, it is very wide and varied... pretty much the opposite of liam eventually that's what's going to keep him current and successful while still being noel.

aterial just yet... as for noel's musical taste, it is very wide and varied... pretty much the opposite of liam eventually that's what's going to keep him current and successful while still being noel. Noel's taste aren't that varied, in the end it's very indie. Liking 80's electro is indie, liking 60's unknown band is indie. Liking a lot of british act similar to him isn't weird. Noel've never really showed any admiration for a meanstream artist except for U2. He doesn't seem to like coldplay very much since the first album, he's just friend with Chris Martin. RHCP are a very meanstream band. Maybe in America you don't do the difference, but here in Europe there is a huge difference between a band like Muse, U2, Coldplay, RHCP and between Oasis, Radiohead, The verve or let's say The Coral. On one side you have classy rock act, making tradional or experimental rock with taste and certain indie values like not selling out, speaking your mind even if people don't like it, playing the media game for promotion but don't let it model you. And on the other side, you have mainstream rock, radio friendly, loosing all the class of their music to appeal to teenagers. Making show with fieworks, spending more money in stage set than in sound equipement, lookin like shit. Making each album more commercial than the one before.

^^ I believe that he has also stated that he likes The Foo Fighters and Florence and the Machine. Who have started to become big in their own right and pretty mainstream. Not U2 big of course, but how many people are. His taste are more diverse. He has stated before that he likes unknown artists from the 60's (obviously), 60's music in general, dance music from the 80's and 90's, Rap from the 80's, Motown, Punk from the 70's and 80's, rock from the late 50's, he has also shown signs that he's a pretty big Folk fan and that he likes Electronica. Yeah his tastes are real limited. And I love how you put Muse up there with U2. Muse have only had 1 album in the Top 5 of the American charts out of their 5 albums. Are you sure you know the difference between a mainstream act or not? Actually Muse is probanly below Radiohead's bracket. At least Radiohead have had 2 #1 albums in the US and 4 other Top 3's. You're really a laugh. Again, get your facts straight before you post.

They're indie act who happened to become very successfull. Indie does'nt mean unsuccessfull, it means non meanstream for me. But it's hard for me to express it in English. Lady Gaga or Muse are a commercial band, ok? Wonderwall or DLBIA aren't radio friendly, there're just classy and poppy. SCYHO is radio friendly (Oasis had made a few radio friendly song two and Noel doesn't like them any more most of the time). Muse singles for the last decade are radio friendly. Can't you see the difference?

Who only have 1 hit that was just barely a hit in the US at #37. Where is this coming from? Muse have almost no mainstream success in the states except for 1 album and a Grammy win. How are they past Radiohead in terms of being a mainstream act?

By your definition, Oasis is indie. Muse is not a mainstream act. Even if you looked at their chart success in other countries, they don't show that they're a mainstream act. It has only been their last 2 albums which have seen them chart high in SOME countries. They may be "mainstream" in the UK, but the chart numbers prove that they're not elsewhere. At least no more than Oasis were. Actually, less than Oasis were even toward the end. Get you facts straight.

If SCYHO is a commercial and not an "indie" single, by your very subjective standards, then how is Oasis an indie band? Hindu Times or SCYHO are radio friendly song. Noel had made a few since the 00's. He doesn't like them anymore by the way. For this reason. If people have complained about HFB production, it's because it was too soft, too radio friendly on some songs (like IIAG). It's a flaw Noel has sometimes.

I just want to know how U2, RHCP, and Muse are in the same class? Huh? C'mon man. I know you didn't just try to sell that b.s.
And then to say that Muse are ahead of Radiohead by any type of measuring stick, even commercially. Wow. I thought that I've read and see it all, but apparently I haven't.

It's quite obvious that he has no proof to back up anything he is saying. He's using his opinions and stated them as fact. And he's clearly grasping for the straws. He's not entered one form of proof to back up anything that he has said. Which is one of the things that one needs in a debate....proof.

For god sake, I'm not talking about worldwilde sales. A band like Coldplay have changed everything from his sound to his look between the first and the last album. Muse have changed his music too. It became more commercial, more mainstream, more radio friendly and less interesting. The RHCP have too, they just haven't changed their look. Here indie music fan call it "radio rock", it's not real rock n roll, it's mainstream music with guitar or bass. Oasis are real rock n roll.
