You guys do realize that the same conversation has taken place since after Be Here Now?
What I read on here is:
1. Noel's not adventurous. 2. He's not making the most of his guitar playing. 3. He's trying to sound like someone else. 4. etc.....
If the Noel we have is the Noel we're going to get, will you still be fans?
I will. His first two albums were good, no matter what anyone says. They weren't Oasis at the top of their game good, but they were good.
None of the Beatles individually ever reached the band's level as solo artists. I don't think we'll ever see it from Noel or Liam either.
Not that my opinion matters, but enjoy the ride for what it is, not for what you hope it could be.

Steve Earle is a caveman who punched himself in the head one too many times. The geezer likely can barely hear at this point...who cares what the old goat has to say? Holy Shit.....a Charlie Weis sighting!

I've not seen Noel or Liam play live separately, so won't get into that debate, but what I get from watching the vids on youTube of last night's show is, those two guys were equally responsible for the success of Oasis. This is what I wish Liam had done instead of Beady Eye. Nothing against Andy, Gem, Bonehead, Guigs, or the Spinal Tap list of drummers. Noel's songs and Liam's voice/swagger ARE Oasis.
Liam sounded good!
NOW, I want the reunion....

He played AOTR once and the crowd was dead during it so he dropped it. Shame as I'd love to hear it in person. What's dissappointing is that he is clearly so affected by the crowds approval. He shouldnt give a shit what the crowd thinks and should play what makes him happy. He pretends to not give a shit about public approval but he clearly does, which is the exact reason we never got the AA album. I wish noel was more like Neil Young sometimes and didn't give a toss what the public think. So, which is it? Should he change up the set list because that would get this forum's approval, or should he keep playing the same set list because that makes him happy? No matter what he does, he's criticized.

it's all about the context. If you look at the Apple I with today's eyes, it's not impressive. by that logic then Mozart or Beethoven should sound crap today, right? I'm not having that. Walrus is one of The Beatles most overrated tunes. Period. An army of one.

I couldn't disagree more. I Am The Walrus sounds mental in 2016. I couldn't imagine that thing being unleashed to the world in 1967 with so little pop music diversity at the time. Surreal doesn't even begin to do that song justice in describing it. Oasis has the best live version no doubt. I don't have any issue with I Am The Walrus, but I don't find it innovative at all. More flash than substance if you ask me. Then again, I feel that way about a lot of late era Beatles stuff. it's all about the context. If you look at the Apple I with today's eyes, it's not impressive.

I don't know if Liam is counting from the beginning of the band or from when they were signed, but I'm pretty sure that from late 1963 on, the Beatles could've sold out the Grand Canyon.

After seeing De Niro's last film (Dirty Grandpa), I'd actually be ashamed to be seen alongside him. I second this motion.....

Nope, nope......Liverpool band was an existing, working band that Brian Epstein cleaned up. Monkees were actors. Mickey Dolenz likes to say that them becoming a rock group was like Leonard Nimoy becoming a real Vulcan. it was a Joke about Frankie goes to hollywood. Well, I certainly missed that one. My apologies........

Every band is to some extent "manufactured". That said, the Monkees were created for a TV show. All the tunes where written by other people. Then after a bit they decided to try and break the "manufactured" idea and wrote some of their own material which turned out to be quite good. So, to answer your question.... Yes. They are both "real" and "manufactured". Just like a certain band from Liverpool and their matching outfits(at least for the first half of their carreer). Nope, nope......Liverpool band was an existing, working band that Brian Epstein cleaned up. Monkees were actors. Mickey Dolenz likes to say that them becoming a rock group was like Leonard Nimoy becoming a real Vulcan.

The same shit over and over. "I wish Noel would blow flames out his ass on the next album"
IF you don't like it, don't buy it. Plenty of people will. Noel won't be "in trouble". His career will be fine.
He finances it himself, you know. Is he going to fire himself?

It also didn't help when someone along the way compared him to John Lennon. Cue the heavy Phil Spector reverb and the whining through his nose that's continued to this day.

Yeah, i do think that this song has undertones of the break up in it. Noel has said previously that he, Paul and Liam were out with their respective women for a pre-tour meal and Liam announced that he wanted to leave the band, after their tour. Nobody mentions that but this song suggests that it might have been true source?

If I did half of the moaning you guys do about being so disappointed, I'd find another artist, or another forum. Life is too short to spend it on an artist who disappoints you so much.

"Do you keep the receipts For the friends that you buy" I've always understood this to be about all of the hangers on people who were always around while Noel was paying for the party.

I've read it, as well. I agree that it was a good read, but McCarroll clearly has an axe to grind. He portrayed Guigsy as weak because he sided with Noel. Plain as that.
The guy was trying to sell a book. I can't blame him.

Just listened to it again a couple days ago. I get folks' opinions that it shouldn't have been the first thing out of the box, but I still like it.
I think DGSS stands up better than BE.

It's horrible. Liam's whine on this tune is unbearable. I don't care for the "White Album" echo guitar either.
