1 hr 43 mins in, think you’ll enjoy it… So obviously i had to go straight to that. Maybe next time give it to someone who knows what they are doing ? It probably sounds amazing in lone star studio. Not that much in andymorris B&W home studio (though here i think the mastering is the problem, not that much the mixing, although some levels are pretty weird) Can’t say I’ve really noticed tbh, but I’ve not had the chance to listen to it on my big stereo yet. 🔊

You're gonna be very scared. It was mastered to sound "good" on smartphones and low quality speakers. Matt Cotton – mastering. Booo you.

Thanx will be watching that tomorrow and diss Noel to the max 😇 Well, Black Star Dancing is mainly guitars. That was a shocking reveal for me. Really ? Its the most guitary song he's done in the last few years. What bits didn't you think were guitars ? The bits at the beginning ? There's loads of delay on them, but they are guitars. I love his approach to writing, creating sounds. Very natural, it doesn't need to be too technical. That's usually when you play around a bit like a silly child that you find the best sounds.

There’s an unheard acoustic track 19 mins into the first part of the CS documentary.
Rough stab at the lyrics:
“The truth that I‘m telling might not be true The gifts that I married they might be stolen (?) But I’m here right now and I will give them to you Say it ain’t so well I don’t believe it You tell me it’s gone, that can’t be true Tell you it’s lost but I’m gonna find it”
Definitely sounds like a break up song! Could be In A Little While maybe?

[brbr Well I'm a guitar player, but I haven't had the pleasure of doing experiments with pedals, if you asked me I would've gone with a synth preset before a guitar with some pedals. I know that the possibilities are endless. Imagine Noel playing with a Miku stomp 😂

You can buy some for cheap, delay is a cheap sound anyway so no need for a big spending If you want to have some fun on guitar i recommend this: BOSS RC-1 You can record loops and then play over it. Its really really fun. You can almost recreate Black star dancing with that. I once saw a Ed Harcourt doing a gig by himself with just that he was recording the drums first, then a guitar loop and then sung with solo guitar parts on top of it. It was amazing.

Now that he's out of LDSMD sound checks songs to pull out as bonus tracks, why not this one for album #5?

Now that he's out of LDSMD sound checks songs to pull out as bonus tracks, why not this one for album #5? I’ve always loved this one. Just the simplicity of it and it’s heartfelt nature makes it a real winner for me. I’d love to hear him open an acoustic set with this.

I'd rather Noel just took the 10/11 best songs he has and made that album instead of going with a theme. 10 acoustic songs sounds incredibly boring and 10 stadium rock songs together would be tiresome, just take the best ones and make a more varied album.
Whatever he decides to do though I hope it doesn't take 3+ years. Noel's not getting any younger. I'd rather more frequent releases with smaller tours. If he tours the same album for 18+ months everyone gets bored of it by that point and he always needs a massive break afterwards. If he really does have dozens of songs ready to go he should release them more prolifically, I don't want to have to wait 10 years to hear the ones he writes on this tour.

Noel is right about the problems of an all acoustic album. After 3-4 tracks it gets boring. I had a similar thought about this 20 years ago with Beck’s acoustic album “Sea Change”. Start that album at any point, beginning, middle or end and after 3 tracks you get the message/themes crystal clear.

It’s far from just him and an acoustic. If Noel peppers his album with a little piano, some violins, female backing vocals, etc. it’ll be fine I’m sure. 🎹

Very underused in Noel's music. As we saw on Dead in the Water, piano/synth what have you can really bring a nice element to a Noel acoustic track.

In 2002 this was Beck’s “acoustic album”. All the songs are in a similar manner. Everything is repeated every 3-4 track is my point and what Noel is trying to avoid.

Only casual fans thought it was his acoustic album. Sea Change is one of Beck’s top rated albums and it was in all the best of 2002 lists, so he did something right, even if you think it is samey. I understand what you’re saying and agree Noel won’t fall into that trap. And anyway, he’s mentioned Dead In The Water as a reference to what it sounds like… How bad can ten of those bad boys be? The “The Dreams We Have As Children” live album is probably the closest thing we have to this acoustic album and it is great. I’m able to listen to more than 3 tracks of it in a row.

I don't mind the odd acoustic song now and again on an album but I certainly don't want an album full of acoustic songs.
