Seeing as we’ve heard most of Council Skies, time to start the hype thread for the next album 🙃 You know the drill. I’ll record info here. So if you hear anything in the upcoming interviews about songs he’s held back or is still working on, let me know here. We now know Noel seems to be working on an acoustic album next.In April 24 Noel confirmed he’d scrapped the acoustic album and is going to work on a “defiant rock” album instead. Songs named as contenders for the rock album:To be confirmed. Songs named as contenders for the scrapped acoustic album:- In A Little While. Acoustic. “Heartbreaking” (5). Demo released on 31/12/23: - Just Let It Come Down Over me. Demo leaked a lifetime ago: - God Help Us All. Demo released as a Moon b-side: Other known potential songs: - A track inspired by Sun Ra and Archie Shepp with discordant piano chords (2). - Slow! Rediscovered by Noel in Jan 21 along with 13 other Oasis era songs that were never recorded properly. - A song that sounds like Heroin by The Velvet Underground. Leftover from WBTM sessions. B-side quality. - Leave The City. Registered for publishing but unreleased. MIA. - A track that uses a 303 bass. - A slow trippy dream pop track. Sounds like Eno. Was possibly on Council Skies (2). Less likely to be on a Noel album: - Crimson Rambler. From the AA sessions. MIA. - Trying To Find A World That's Been And Gone Part 2 is where drums come in, Noel decided to leave it off CS. MIA. - A Shaun Ryder collaboration, with a Black Grape vibe (3). It has been confirmed that this will be released via Shaun’s new band, Mantra of the Cosmos, albeit in a new mix by Zak Starkey. - A collaboration with Dizzee Rascal. More likely to be released under Dizzee’s name. MIA. - A collaboration with The Black Keys. 3 songs were written and recorded with them in January 2023. Confirmed these will be released on the next Black Keys album. Known Potential CoversNoel has threatened to do a covers release at some point. He records covers during downtime in his studio. Known possible covers are listed here: - All You Need Is Love, The Beatles, played during the Moon tour - Mighty Quinn, Bob Dylan - Valentine’s Day, David Bowie - Love Will Tear Us Apart, Joy Division, demo released Dec 23: Known Info- Prior to the Council Skies announcement, he claimed to have two albums worth of songs where he just needs the “final, final bit of lyric” to finish them off. (1) - “I’m already working on new songs. The next thing I do will be reaction to this (Council Skies), I don’t quite know what it’ll be” (4) - The Black Keys said they did 3 days of writing and recording in his studio in January 2023. Noel later confirmed 3 tracks were completed. - Claims to have written 3 albums worth of material during pandemic lockdown (5). - Has started work on an acoustic album. All new material. It is all written and 3-5 songs are done. It’s “very sombre” and “as you can imagine, it is not uplifting”. Implies it is influenced by his break up from Sara (5). - In April 24 he confirmed he’d scrapped the acoustic album after finishing 6 songs and will start working on a rock album instead. What are you gonna do if the new Oasis album sounds like Easy Now? Good question While I dont really want Oasis to reform just to do a best of tour, I think Noel wouldn't release such a song with Oasis. But is he still capable of writing beefy rock n roll tunes ? 10 years ago yes, now... I have my doubts + would Noel produce the record himself ? The main problem on this song, as i said, is the production. Put Owen Morris or another producer behind the desk and you got something else, closer to the Oasis sound. A ballad with muscles. Not just syrup.

Not just syrup. I like it so don't really agree on the song itself, but I think the main questions are: has Noel as a songwriter gone too far to come back to the Oasis way? I've said this before but when he goes heavier the best songs these days are always the moody, darkish ones, not exactly what you'd expect from an Oasis reunion. But on the other hand I don't want a Heathen Chemistry-like record, even if the ballads are actually good. And more importantly, does Noel *want* the pressure of writing the Oasis comeback record? I'm not sure about that honestly

And more importantly, does Noel *want* the pressure of writing the Oasis comeback record? I'm not sure about that honestly Few days ago i would have said the same. But divorces change everything. he will never admit it but i'm sure he was saddened by the reactions from the last tour, with the first half of his setlists, wbtm songs being played to relative indifference. Time changes everything, and as Mossy pointed out, he's "found" old Oasis songs. Noel never says stuff in the oar like that, there's always reasoning behind it. Planting the seeds. There's probably a few good ones lying around and he would still need a few more. And who knows what he's really written for the past 10 years. It can be done, but surely it would be a very different record than what we used to have. The next few months are gonna be interesting.

I don’t think there’s any chance of a new oasis album
BUT
If it does happen all songs MUST be written by N. Gallagher. Doesn’t matter who else is in the band. 11 tracks written by Noel with 10 sung by Liam. Anything else isn’t worth getting excited for.
Gem, Andy, and Liam aren’t songwriters.

I wouldn't mind a couple of Liam tunes in the mix, he's got the talent for a couple.
But it needs to be AT LEAST 90% Noel-written/Liam-sung if it was to happen.
I think a World Tour is most likely, though.

Noel needs the money from an Oasis reunion because of the divorce, it's on!

A Morning Glory 30th Anniversary Reunion tour would be more realistic at this point as Noel is likely to tour his new album into early 2024.
Also I'm sure Noel has buried some heavy tunes that he knows he can't sing live but would be perfect for Liam.
Keep in mind Liams voice has returned to form and 100% Noel has seen and knows this.. it definitely helps the chances of him considering a Reunion show or tour and maybe even an album to recoup what he will lose in the divorce.

What if Noel and Liam's respective upcoming albums are rearranged for a new Oasis album? I'm kidding.

I'd be pretty disappointed if there wasn't a single Liam song on the album. He's written so much good stuff for both of his bands and solo career, and his tunes bring usually something new to the table compared to what we can expect from Noel. But honestly, I don't think anything they can come up with could live up to the expectations that have built up in the last almost 15 years - and a world tour without an album would be really cheap in my eyes.
Also, let's first wait and see how Liam does on his COYK tour when he's got 10 gigs lined up in a month or something. There hasn't been a proper UK/EU tour for ages where he didn't have to cancel gigs because of some kind of sickness or because his voice was shot, and I'm not sure Noel would tolerate that.

I’ll be honest I’m not sure why everyone is acting like an Oasis reunion is certain because of Noel’s divorce and him just saying “Never Say Never”?

If it happens, I want 100% Noel-written.
No question, for whatever reason (some understandable, some inexplicable) they let go the magical formula of Noel-written, Liam-sung and became mediocre as a result.
That’s why NGHFB was so refreshing as you suddenly remembered the power of 11 Noel songs together.
