Serious question - why does Holy Mountain create such division in the fan base?
You either really love the song, or you really hate it.
I haven’t seen an Oasis-related song create so much fan division since the amazingly wonderful Magic Pie.
The song is a bundle of fucking joy.... Makes me smile.
Let’s have a good debate.

Some people don't like stilton cheese, or Doctor Who.
Shame for them, but what can be done? Maybe they should have special parking spaces.

The song is ok but it's certainly not one of my favourite Noel Gallagher song or one of the best songs on Who Built The Moon. And, it's certainly not a song which I listen to very often.

I think a lot of pro Liam fans took this song as a chance to get back at the pro Noel fans on the forum after a decade of Liam struggles and finally releasing a pretty solid debut effort and turning his career around. So many people said this song sucked and bombed in the charts. However it’s one of his biggest singles and I believe longest or second longest in the top 100.
It’s a bop.

I think it suffered a lot from not being what people expected as a comeback single, especially after Liam's success with stuff rooted into Oasis territory, and I include myself cause I was thrown off a bit by it when it came out
Now I'm not a *huge* fan, but once you go past the initial shock I can see where he wanted to go with it and I believe he succeded It is poppy, very poppy, wouldn't be out of place on an ABBA or Blondie release, so it's understandable it wouldn't get love from every Oasis fan out there, but regardless of what you think of it, it's a super fun tune, and it's lively as fuck I'd rather have this than bad attempts at rock n roll a-la Lock All The Doors

It's this one and What a Life hung around the UK charts for ages right? What a Life was a very good rock anthem with a dancey beat and Holy Mountain was easy to take the piss out of, has silly lyrics but is extremely relentlessly and shamelessly catchy, almost like an annoying novelty - people seemed to hate that about it. I remember people also seemed to be triggered that the vocal cadence / rhythm of "She danced" was mildly similar to the horrible tune from the 2000s "She Bangs" by whoever that was by. Studio version doesn't do much for me, but what a banger of a live tune is my summary.

Probably the best set opener released since Turn Up the Sun. People are just JEALOUS they didn’t come up with it.

It’s class and it was brilliant live. It is everything Bring the Light tried and failed to be.

I won't take away the merit that it sounds better live than on record. But it is annoying to my ears and I hate the lyrics. It gets me on my nerves - but then again so does half of WBTM?'s tracks.

Because it's fun, light and silly. And some people simply aren't like that.
It's like Noel doing Blur (in spirit, not in style).

One of Noel's best solo songs. Overflowing with hooky melodies and riffs and just pure fun.

Dreadful song. Awful production too. The word ‘joy’ could never been in the same sentence as Holy Mountain in my opinion. I actually like the song it rips off but fucking hate Holy Mountain so when Noel kind of blamed the fans taste in music for not liking it, it got my back up even more. Its not my fault It’s shit Noel! Just because it’s influenced/rips off a fucking cool song, it doesn’t mean it’s good. It isn’t. (In my opinion of course)
There’s one line that I do like in HM: ‘I’m gonna let you join my one man band’ but the rest of the song is complete shitfuckbollockywank.
Yep, I think it’s shite.
And as for that motherfucking whistle...
*Sorry for any swearing that may have occurred there in my post.

I think it's great, it was fantastic to finally have some real uptempo songs from Noel in WBTM, after I don't know how many years. But it obviously flirts with a type of bubble-gum pop that will not be of everybody's taste, especially among Oasis fans. Oasis music is almost never tongue in cheek and it's certainly never bubble-gum pop, so no surprise that it is polemic.

When I think about the song I always rate it as a 5 in my head, but when I listen to it I actually enjoy it a lot. Not his best but definitely the most uplifting song from NGHFB.

1) It's not type of music Noel can be fit. Dancing is not about Noel Gallagher 2) Some people compare What A Life and Ballad Of The Mighty I with Holy Mountain. If Noel would like to turn his attention to 'dance' music, he should continue THAT music - low-pitched style with piano and heavy (by Noel standarts) guitar inserts. I like AKA... WAL! and BOTMI, albums' highlights for me. It's A Beautiful World is good too. Holy Mountain is shocking. 3) Sax sounds cringe and very annoying (and I'm personal fan of sax music) 4) Lyrics are 50-50, I could mumble 'SHE FELL! SHE FELL! RIGHT INTO MY SPELL!' all day long but I fkn hate opening lyrics. Cmon Noel, dance if you can dance... omg
Even if I think WBTM? was a shocking album, I appreciate his attempt to change something. I remember everyone was sayin' how boring NGHFB were to 2016 shows. You wanna something else? Get it. Noel gave me another emotions - I HATED his new music at the time haha. And that's new to me. But I enjoyed that times. It was really new, you know? And after almost 4 years I understand that I don't really want to return to classic Noel. I want 50-50 album. But with better songs. Mostly - with better melodies. Dance melodies with guitar inserts would be great

I don't see it as the crowning achievement of Noel's solo output or one of the worst like both extremes, it's just a fun little retro sixties pop tune that could've been mastered better. Looking forward to the remastered version.

But, yes, that, Noel's reaction to not everyone being enthusiastic about it really did not sit well with me. Also, no big deal, I still enjoy (most of) his music and happily keep on financing his next pool, but I stopped consuming each and every interview of his.
As for this "Oasis fans don't like that kind of music". Show me two Oasis fans with the exact same music taste. Also, you can in general like a certain music genre - poppy songs, in this case? - and still not like one song in special.
