Noel is one of my favourite songwriters and I always admired his melodic talent but most of his solo stuff, I can't really say "wow" to it. This song for example is not bad, but after a few listens I can't say it triggers many emotions in me. It does piss me off cos' I really want to hear a NG song and be totally infuated with it like I was when I discovered a lot of Oasis songs.

The verses are brilliant. And it sounds really really good with headphones. Should be a hit, of course being 2021 it won't. Radio hit maybe. A few Noel and Liam solo songs got good airplay on a decent, in terms of audoence, pop/rock station here in France. I'm sure it will be the same for this tune. It's already at #6 on UK iTunes (and #350 on France iTunes )

Listen, 95% of todays music is "background music" anyway, you are doing something else and listening an album, music is nice most of the time, but you forget everything about it soon.
Even with some great bands today you don't know when one song started and another one finished. Nobody is sitting in dark room anymore and listen something like The Dark Side of the Moon and enjoy every note.
So, give me Gallaghers song any day, it's not Slide Away but I prefer Noel's and Liam's 7/10 songs more than 7/10 music from other artist. And most music today that we call good is 7/10.
So, keeps working Gallaghers, we need you.

If it's produced with Paul Stacey it's a shame he didn't add one of his guitar solos to it. I just feel the instrumental bit is a tad boring. 6/10 for me.

3. Is Noel trying to capitalize on the covid zeitgeist? We're gonna get there in the end totally made me think that. If so, cheesy... Nah. It's someone who was living the dream, but was otherwise broken from the rest of the things one has to deal with in life.

I have the same sentiment, but I just don't expect it from Noel at this point in his career or even Liam tbh. It's good, comforting music tbh but not something you'd revisit much but that's fine.

Best thing he’s done in a long time - 8. A greatest hits album feels a bit desperate though. It's a Best Of he said it clearly, no idea why they're selling it as a greatest hits Because most people are stupid enough to think Best Of = Greatest Hits.

OK. nothing surprising, like IIAG 2, but less edgy, that says a lot right. I give it a 6.
A song for a best of, with production tricks already in the box, copy and pasted for this track.
Ballads from the EP were a bit more adventurous too. I wasn't expecting much, so i'm not disappointed.
Probably wont listen to this that much, like "We're gonna get there", dont think i've listened to it since it came out...
Bring the A game ASAP, NG.

Gorgeous tune with some beautiful lyrics. I'd have preferred a stark, more piano led production style more akin to Alone On The Rope for something like this - but this is still pretty nice as it is.

Nobody is sitting in dark room anymore and listen something like The Dark Side of the Moon and enjoy every note. Actually, i do listen to some records a bit that way. Not The Dark Side of the Moon because i despise pink floyd, but other artists. I just sit there, put some great headphones on and just listen to the record, noticing new parts, thinking about how time flies. It's a very relaxing experience and i feel sorry for people who always do 2 or more things at once.

I don't really think music needs to be overcomplicated or anything to be appreciated and give emotions to the listener. Of course, it varies depending on the listeners, not everyone will have the same reaction to the same song. It's not even a dig at Noel in my case, he's basically proven everything he had to prove as a pop songwriter. In fact, everytime I hear a new Noel song I want to fuckin' love it, but after a few listens I rarely listen to it anymore. You said "background music" and I think it's not that far from what I feel, for me it lacks the uplifting melancholy that made me love Noel's songwriting.

Good tune. Really dig the verses and the Bond vibe. It didn't blow my mind but it's great to have a new tune and a few more surprises to come.

'I hear The Morning Sun doesn't Cast No Shadow"...
Could be written in the HFB1 era? It's clearly mentioning Beady Eye song...
Btw, 8/10

8/10.... the melody in the chorus is utterly beautiful.
Just wish it was a bit more developed. Otherwise, classic Noel.
Well pleased to wake up to this.

1. Unremarkable piece of music. It will please Noel's groupies and easy-listeners though. I got the impression this might be the first time Noel is trying to address someone's passing away in a song? Don't go away is about the anxiety of someone dying, but this is more about mourning someone, "you'd gone to meet your maker, good luck in the afterlife". 2. The art design is appalling, tiring (is this still Gareth Halliday work?). And it strongly supports the idea this song is about death/afterlife with that tunnel of light. 3. Is Noel trying to capitalize on the covid zeitgeist? We're gonna get there in the end totally made me think that. If so, cheesy... I bet you're fun at parties... There's no "capitalizing" anywhere. "We're gonna get there in the end" is certainly a fitting message for the time but he's not selling it anywhere so I don't see how he would be trying to capitalize on it. He wrote a song that was perfect for the situation, maybe last year, maybe 20 years ago, no one but him knows. As for the best of, he's doing 3 things: 1- He's participating in RSD as he often does 2- He's putting a bookmark on 10 years of NGHFB 3- He's releasing something that he doesn't need to tour, which is a smart move given the situation. And how do you make fans buy a best of? You throw in 1 or 2 new songs (We know Noel has tons of songs he can do that with) and/or make it special and/or limited and/or exclusive. So that's pretty much all it is.
