“One Of Us / Wandering Star” double Oasis A-side in my private Oasis fantasy. I absolutely love Wandering Star - I really like your Black Star Dancings and This Is The Places but this song takes me to THAT place that only Noel’s wistful, yet positive songs can do... No love for his best song of 2019, ADIAINTGB? That NEARLY does it for me!

Can’t get this song out of my head now.
God damn it, Noel, you’ve done it again.
A further increase. 7.5/10

Not sure. When you submit stuff to Apple, you decide yourself the release date for Apps, music... etc. So if there is a mistake, it comes from Noel's management. Would they make such a mistake ? Noel’s entire “team” is like 4 people and an intern in London. Yeah this is why 1. Someone from his team made the mistake (unlikely with such a small team) or 2. It was done on purpose to generate a bit of buzz or taste the water (see : alone on the rope « leak » in 2011) because the wait until the release is long.

That looks like Dave Sardy on the cover. Shiny bald head brickwall master and everything. The toxic jacket symbolizing his production quality.

I liked the lyrics “Running round in circles, coming last.”
Then I realized it’s redundant - if you’re running (a)round, of course it is in a circle.
Fuck being smart.

This one is growing on me... most of these EP songs have been like that... skeptical at first, but then they hook in somehow. Some folks have commented about the build up but then lack of huge chorus. That seems intentional to me. A huge chorus would turn the song into a Bryan Adams or Bon Jovi power ballad, though I’d love it if Noel did one like A Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd...

I liked the lyrics “Running round in circles, coming last.” Then I realized it’s redundant - if you’re running (a)round, of course it is in a circle. Fuck being smart. That verse is great, lyrically. "Running round in circles coming last" is pretty much "Slowly walking down a hall, faster than a cannon ball." Fuck people moaning about that lyric, too. The fact that it's redundant is what makes it so great. It's the nonsense which makes it mean so much.

And the cat lyric is basically "...and my dog's been itching" it's so down to earth but describes a feeling in the most picturesque way. Classic Noel.

I just think that second verse sums up what makes Noel's lyrics so great. The imagery of running around in a circle, where there's no beginning or end, yet still coming last, is powerful, really. It's a great way to sum up the 'rat race' of every day life. It's one of his main talents as a songwriter. I fully agree the lyrics on some of his recent songs aren't the best (but they fit with the tone of the songs). The next step will probably be getting those wistful lyrics combined with a dancier beat or whatever. But it shows when Liam's writers tried to do it - tried to manufacture it - with a song like 'Once' (for example). Now that song has actually grown on me and I like the live version a lot, and I have no doubt Liam sings every word with full meaning and force and emotion. But I think it just shows how actually great a lyricist Noel can be at times.

It's got such a nice, classic Noel melody... but the production completely ruins it. Someone mentioned Sardy and I think that's exactly what came to my mind as well. Plodding, messy production. Sad.
That being said, it's a solid 7.

Not to mention, within the context of Champagne Supernova, it emphasizes the meaning of the song that life goes by quick no matter how slow it may seem from time to time.

On first listen it felt boring and uninspired, but it has grown on me now. I wouldn't say it's a classic, but it has something special and it's definitely the most uplifting song Noel has written in a long time. I think it would sound better if they had used strings instead of bells.
