The production on this is so strange. I guess he was going for a warm, reverb-y, Christmas feel but it just sounds muffled to my ears. Definite Sardy vibes. Sounds fucking shit compared to previous production efforts. Those drums.... man they ruin it. Talk about weighing the song down, what plodding shite. I listened to it in work today - felt it had Sardy’s filthy hands all over it. The production is a mess. Way too loud.

I feel like Noel's magic is there, but it's drowned out.
This part was beautiful.
"All of the dreams you had, I had them too" "And all of the songs I sing, I wrote for you"
"All of the hopes I feel, hang by a thread" "And all of the words I got, get left unsaid"
The rest, sadly, was (in my opinion) pretty shit aka difficult to listen to.

"My My", was to me the equivalent of getting to what you think is going to be a really great the climax in a movie, only to discover the movie is suddenly cut short; ending suddenly on a weak and largely unsatisfying cliffhanger, with no climax or plot advancement in sight. Build up without a bang

I still think the best production of Noel's music was on Chasing Yesterday, even if the songs themselves weren't always quit 'there'. The mastering seemed perfect on every song. Wish he'd do it again.

Wish he'd do it again. Some songs sound good on that album, some sound shit. Lock All The Doors is a dull sludge for example. Who Built The Moon for me is still light years ahead. It’s A Beautiful World sums that up - the production shimmers, and has so much deft and subtlety to it. The added percussion just makes the tune rattle along too. For some reason, Noel isn’t great at getting the percussion right - only Alan White could give potential plodders a light and airy feel with his jazz style (a song as beautiful as Cast No Shadow or Wonderwall would have been destroyed without his light touch, just imagine another standard drummer with Sardy producing those?). Rarely got it wrong with David Holmes at the helm.

I'm curious for The Reflex remix.

I'm curious for The Reflex remix. Isn't the remix for Blue Moon Rising?

I'm curious for The Reflex remix. Isn't the remix for Blue Moon Rising? Yes, it is. As Blue Moon Rising and Wandering Star are on his new EP, I just posted my above comment in this thread. Apologised.

I'm curious for The Reflex remix. when I was listening to the clip igotflair kindly shared, for the first minute or so I did think maybe it actually was the reflex remix, make's both versions even more intriguing...

I like Wandering Star a lot but two complaints.
It's not weird enough.
I was hoping Jess' vocal would be more prominent. She has a great voice and think it's been underutilized

Good lord. When did Liam turn into Bob Seger?

Leave it to Liam to compliment and insult his brother simultaneously.

On first listen, it kinda confuses me. I like it don't love it. It's like like Love Is the Law with Little By Little or something. I mean it's got an undeniable Noel melody to it. I mean it's incredible that even without Liam's voice that Noel can make really memorable melodies. Yeah, it's got some nice textures in there, but it still feels rough in the mix and it's plodding rhythm is a bit of a tough hang. Still, I think this will be a great addition to his live set. It's not bland, that nice little bit at 2:26 is great stuff, and it's melody is definitely emotionally effective, but it does kinda feel like Noel on autopilot.

I wonder if Noel was late in deciding what song to use as the single. Wandering Star or Blue Moon Rising. Kinda like The Death of You and Me or If I Had A Gun. That changed at the very last possible moment.

It’s likely the Japanese website screwed up and listed the wrong track. X

When you submit stuff to Apple, you decide yourself the release date for Apps, music... etc. So if there is a mistake, it comes from Noel's management. Would they make such a mistake ?

The apparent non chorus has grown on me.
Comfortable 7/10, with maybe a chance for slight increase. The My My part is so out of place, it brings the rest of the song down.

So, Liam basically likes it, but he wouldn't let his ego compliment him without insulting him.

“One Of Us / Wandering Star” double Oasis A-side in my private Oasis fantasy.
I absolutely love Wandering Star - I really like your Black Star Dancings and This Is The Places but this song takes me to THAT place that only Noel’s wistful, yet positive songs can do...
