Hi andymorris and likeminded people. Is there a thread that you could post your “I love Liam but hate that he’s not writing his own songs” in? If not, have you considered making one? I’m really interested in reading all opinions on the Guardian interview in this thread and on MTV Unplugged in that thread etc etc Your opinion on Liam’s songwriters is clearly important to you, and I respect that, but you’ve made so many posts about it throughout different threads that I’m sure they’re worthy of their own thread to keep them contained. Forgive me for saying that the point you’re making constantly and relentlessly is boring the pants off me.

Why is it that if an actor puts in a great performance they get the the credit for it rather than being citicized for not writing their own scripts? Yet there is so much snobbery about a singer being fake if they don't write all their own music?

Yet there is so much snobbery about a singer being fake of they don't write all their own music? The reality of it is - he is massive now with a huge fanbase. He's done it by being the Liam Gallagher we always knew he was. The iconic frontman of his generation singing great songs old and new. Its annoys some on here just as much as it does Noel. Its karma for the Beady Eye days where they were all enjoying his demise. And we are all fucking loving it.

Anyone who lived through the 90s knows that a big thing the Gallaghers stood against was faceless pop corporations, and Liam turning to the darkside almost feels like a betrayal. If he was actually collaborating with other artists it would feel a bit more genuine but as it stands, he is taking songs from the corporate assembly line, just like a Robbie Williams or a Harry Styles. I will concede that the argument is getting very tired now, either you like Liam's new stuff or you don't, get into it or listen to something else, no need to constantly bang on about the lack of soul in the songs. But don't try and argue that Liam Gallagher is some sort of Robert De Niro of the music world. Method acting and singing songs are two completely different art forms that are universes apart.

I'm just making a general and not altogether serious point that actors act out things written by other people and its doesn't make their performance less valid. And actually if you want to compare Liam to De Niro I'd say this is his Meet the Parents phase 😂😂

... I'm really tired of this shit... Liam seems to have gotten to Noel in a way that he stooped to his level of bitching and negativity... these two need to stop this. And fucking interviewers need to focus on the MUSIC!!! Where does the song come from? When were they written? Why isn't he still working with David Holmes? Who played on the tracks and so on.... I don't give a flying fuck what he thinks of Liam or Brexit. It's already been said. We know. Move the fuck on. He's right about the angry negativity of Liam's songs though. That annoys me a LOT. But that could have been said in a musical context. The rest is just useless shit.Shockwave is a bit of rant, The River doesn't seem to be about anyone specific and Once is a wistful, mature look at his past. I don't really agree. Yeah I'm not talking about those last two. But there's way too much on As You Were. Then Shockwave which, when I heard it, I thought "Really?". I know Noel's always on about love and "her" or "she" but it's a lot less irritating than anger. Once is actually very pretty and The River is a great rock tune.

And actually if you want to compare Liam to De Niro I'd say this is his Meet the Parents phase 😂😂 Agreed, although even that movie was quite entertaining and fresh when it first came out. More like the 2nd sequel that you hoped would be good fun but ended up being just the same old rehashed jokes.

Noel is a grumpy old man who lost his creativity long ago. Nowadays, he's famous for his insulting interviews and statements, not his music. Sad. eh, do you believe that what liam does is creative?

I haven't read the whole thread yet but my two cents are as follows:
- He's spot on about Brexit - He's completely wrong about Jeremy Corbyn - I don't think he needs to be "funny" when discussing the harassment of his wife and daughter. I would be "grumpy" and "bitter" too if I thought that was happening to my family.

You'll call me disgusting or a Liam fanboy, but I think that "shit Meg" and "Noel with a wig" are the best comments made by any Gallagher. And I'm not "passionate" about their personal lives(like so many appear to be), so I really don't care about anything except the music.

What's he said? There was no 'slagging off' of Lennon or Gene in the Guardian piece. He claimed - maybe incorrectly in regards Lennon as we have no evidence of that - that Gene and Lennon had a row with Anais. Now we know Anais, who i'm not saying is innocent in that particular thing, definitely did have a bit of a tiff with Gene. We don't know what else, if anything, has been said. But that's not 'slagging off', is it. Unless he's now said something else? He didn't say they had a row with Anais, he all but called them bullies in a national newspaper. Thats from the person who sayst that it's very wrong to involve family members in their spat, especially their kids. He shouldn't have mentioned them at all I agree

Regardless if it annoys people on here, my point is it's not that annoys Noel as much as you and others like to think it is. Noel doesn't like Liam. He really doesn't like him. He has his reasons. Maybe Liam's success plays a part, sure. But it's not the main reason. Noel has said the main reasons - yet he just gets criticised for it. So that's my point. I don't agree with everything he says. I just can't be arsed with the same old 'he's just saying it cause Liam's doing well' line.

I don't agree with everything he says. I just can't be arsed with the same old 'he's just saying it cause Liam's doing well' line. According to Noel himself, his true falling out with Liam began when Liam supposedly questioned Anais's paternity, implying Meg had cheated on Noel. But Oasis were still massive at the time, so his outrage didn't extend to the point of wanting to part ways. There were millions to be made and more life to squeeze out of Liam's voice. He hit his "breaking point" in 2009, conveniently when Liam's voice was all but gone. He spent the Beady Eye era being affably smug about Liam's solo failure. And now he's back to full rage when Liam's outdoing him commercially. There's a pattern there, whether one believes Noel's consciously aware of it or not.

I think the pattern might be to do with Liam sending stupid texts and calling his wife a horse, too. Like I said, there's no right - they're both wrong.

I have two choices:
a) read all the sad shit Liam and Noel are pulling out b) listen Definetely Maybe and remember why I like their music so much
I'm wise and I'm going with b)
I can't stand this personal war anymore.

I get you in relation to the Anais text, but i even feel like then that would have been dealt with in house. But the main shit im on about is using the sun shit on Liam to call him out as intimidating to women. Thats outright trying to ruin him. He wouldn't be doing that if Liam wasnt successful.

On a side note - i cant even begin to imagine how awful it'll be for everyone when there is any sort of "tragedy" within the Gallagher family.
Not only will they be all dealing with a huge loss, but the circus around it will be unbearable.
Still, they've all let it get like this.

I'd guess because she constantly posts derogatory posts about him on her locked IG account before conveniently deleting all of them.

And now he's back to full rage when Liam's outdoing him commercially. There's a pattern there, whether one believes Noel's consciously aware of it or not. here is a quote of Noel in 2015, what do you make of that ? “I’m very fucking sad about Beady Eye, because I know they really wanted to make it work,” Noel Gallagher told Q (via The Hollywood Reporter).
“I’m amazed Liam has chucked it in, but he won’t stay out of the limelight for long,” said Noel, whose post-Oasis band the High Flying Birds will release their second LP Chasing Yesterday on March 2nd. “I think Liam should make a solo record – put his balls on the line, put his name up in lights and go for it.”Since we take all Noel's as 100% true with no hidden meaning, this quote is pretty self explanatory that Noel was supportive, then probably wasn't because of something that happened, which we dont know fuck all. I dont believe the jealousy, but i believe Noel is really really sad Oasis fell out the way they did, and deep down is sad about the whole thing with his brother. I also believe Noel was supportive about Liam's songwriting for years, letting him develop in Oasis, and doesn't like the easy path he's taken, that's it. the conspiracy theory is kinda weird, they just broke up, Noel did not plan this even before Thomas Gallagher implanted his sperm to create Liam. FFS. Let me all remind you that 2 out of 4 Beady Eye's are also in Noel's band nowadays, so he's not ALL THAT BAD.

Otherwise, many people in many forums would be guilty of it. I'm not saying it's a good thing but it isn't harassment.

why would noel be jealous? he probably has 10 times the money in the bank that liam has, has no love childs or ex wives to pay. he made the decision to change his musical direction, because he wanted to. he's beyond that "i have to sell shitloads of albums" point. i believe he's just truly fed up with all the shit liam is throwing at him and wants to be left alone. liam is like a little child suffering from adhd, that's why he constantly does what he does. honestly, i believe if liam wouldn't be the idiot he is, oasis would have been back together at least for a money grabbing stadium tour (not that i would be interested...) or at least it would be a possibility in the foreseeable future.
