The pre-order links for the single have got to go up today surely?
With Eh La as the B-side?

that second verse is really fucking good. and the middle eight is dope. i've gotten way too used to dodgy lyrics thanks to BDI and even Wall of Glass and Chinatown so hearing a relatively straightforward song lyrically was a pleasant surprise.

100% you can dislike anything but people are doing it in some cases just to hate or doing it to be dicks I don't think I've seen anyone hating it just to hate. The trouble is people who like the song think that anyone who doesn't is trolling or being a dick, which isn't very helpful. It's an opinion and they're perfectly entitled to it. And this isn't a 'For what it's worth appreciation' thread, it's an open thread where all opinions are welcome. And to be fair, I don't see the people who don't like it getting personal and calling people who like it dicks. It's an Oasis forum, some of us, like me, were huge fans of Oasis and they were/are a huge part of our lives so obviously we maintain an interest in what their members do now. I would love Liam to succeed, to feel that magic I used to. But, at the same time, there is enough other amazing music out there that if he doesn't it's not the end of the world and I can be honest about it. I don't have a need to convince myself that live vocal performances that are objectively not very good, are some kind of resurrection. And I can hear when a studio performance has been played with to Cher like levels and that makes it unpleasant to listen to for me, as someone else said it kind of feels like listening to Siri. Perhaps the reason some of the people who dislike it express it in quite strong terms is because we have people saying things like 'best vocal since Be Here now!', 'he smashed it' on a very mediocre live performance that is already in a lower key. Liam was all about the voice, and even with the deterioration perhaps still could be if he played to its strengths. The only people who seems to have known how to use it in the last 15 years are Death in Vegas. For the love of god go and do an album with them, not people used to writing for Adele's voice FFS. There definitely are people who deliberately say they hate things just to wind people up, but you are making very fair points IMO. Perhaps they released that snippet of him singing in the studio so that people think that it is his natural voice, which I think is fair enough, there are effects on it but for the verses it sounds like him. But then the chorus comes in and to a fan like us, deep down, we know it's not really 'him', he would never be able to pull that off live, so why do it like that on record? They could easily have made it in a different key and use female backing singers to give some higher notes if they wanted. With the songwriting it's a delicate balance, nobody wants a record of just Liam-written songs as that would go down like a fart in a lift, and I guess his only option was signing with a major label who would have writers they use often and can pay for. I had very low expectations and so far I've seen the skeleton of a 6 or 7 out of 10 album and an improved Liam on stage, so I'm happy for that as I think he needed to prove it to Noel if the band want to get back together.

Or I guess for some it could be the Little James + Put Yer Money Where Yer Mouth Is moment... Some people decided that As You Were will be Heathen Chemistry except for the 4 singles on the say it was announced.

I think that Liam can't win with some of you, whatever he will make in music nowadays.

Really loving this tune.
Its a bit ELO, a bit Robbie Williams, I also hear a bit of Under The Westway by Blur in there I think.
Great tune, Liam's most commercial song since SCYHO, and I don't mean that as a bad thing.

It's the over analyzing every tiny little detail that makes me laugh. This might be my favourite out of the 3 so far, Liam's vocal is just insane.

Seriously, how many songs did Noel put out post BHN with Oasis that you can honestly say are better than this? I'd be hard pushed to offer many.
Whether the public or Oasis fans take to it or not, this is a GREAT song, regardless of who wrote it.
I honestly cant see the album disappointing at this point. Roll on 6th October.

I find comparisons cheap sometimes - because it can devalue a song's own worth - but if I was to compare this to anything it'd be Hurricane #1's Only The Strongest - which is also a dream of a tune. Ooof! A low blow.

I like the song, but agree in terms of the over-tweaking of vocals. It kind of makes me sad actually. Can Liam actually come even close to hitting those chorus notes, even in the studio? Or is it pretty much a giant effect-ridden layered reconstruction. Honestly I'd love to hear a raw vocal, no effects at all. Pretty much all three choruses of the released songs he has sang very flat live. Like the tunes regardless, but I'd rather see him sing within his range and with only the standard vocal enhancements, like this it does make it feel sort of..fake. And this is not over-analyzing, just how it makes me feel, as a fan, aware of Liam's vocal struggles.

I don't know who's overanalyzing True but there's people picking stuff out that really isn't a big deal, just enjoy the song. Love how Liam sings "Seems that I forgot just what I was fighting for"

Anyway it'll be interesting to see how it sounds live on that TV show in America. If he managed to nail the vocal in front of an audience that big, it could be monumental for him.

I actually wonder if he's really went for it on the vocal on the show and that's been a factor in his subsequent vocal problems. Although wasn't the show taped before the rough trade gig?

Deleted the cover I did yesterday trying to do it in it's original key, nearly impossible to sing. Dropped the tuning down a full step and sounds a lot better now I think.
