I have spoken to about ten non-Oasis fans about his performance on One Love Manchester. None, and I mean none, thought his voice was good. Everyone though it was nasal, weak and an empty shell compared to his glory days. Sure, he hit the notes better than the last couple of tours, but the voice is completely gone. He sounds like a ghost, a shadow of his former self.
Really, really, sad.
I am 100% convinced that anyone who thinks he sounded "great" is a fan that is so used to his horrible live vocals during the last 15 years that any slight improvement compared to Kermit suddenly induces comments such as "the best he has sounded in 20 years".
Utter crap performance. Horrible, in fact. I do not even recognize the voice. It's like another person singing.
Sorry for my english.

One Love was his best in 20 years? No, it wasn't. Was it good? Yes it was.

Good or bad. There is only one Liam.

One Love was his best in 20 years? No, it wasn't. Was it good? Yes it was. I obviously have been listenig to almost every live performance during the last ten years. I am quite obsessed with Liam's voice. This was just horrible. For the first time I really thought to myself: I do not even like Liam's voice anymore. This is not the voice I fell in love with. Sure, he very often sounded like Kermit during the last couple of tours. It was impossible to listen to. But after a few years of rest he mostly sounded alright at the beginning of tours (at least during a few performances). But he never sounded like a ghost, a shell, like he does now. Now, the voice is finally gone. Maybe forever.

I think he has sounded pretty good on tour so far.

Some other vocalist that I don't even like.

Well I have spoken to around 15 non-Oasis fans - family, friends, locals at the pub - and they all have said how good Liam sounded and it was great to hear him back. So your opinion is just that - an opinion. And a lot of people disagree with it. Fans and non-fans.

just for the sake of comparison... buenos aires 2006... I was there Seriously what the fuck was going on with his voice around that time? It's astonishing. Sounds like he's got a fridge lodged in his throat.

You can't win a Liam's voice debate. Accept it.

i watched the manchester performance again yesterday, and i must say i have to agree with the o.p. . that was one of, if not the best live vocal performance we have heard from liam in recent memory. i would say right on par with, if not better than beady eye dgss tour, the sotsog tour, and approaching the be here now era.
but... i will keep it real and say enjoy it while it lasts, i don't think he will be able to sustain it.

Hopefully there's a difference this time if he's actually had a medical diagnosis and knows what to do. His voice obviously has changed but he is singing much, much better now than he probably has in a decade and a half. I thought his voice was pretty consistent on the DGSS tour throughout so I'm hopeful he can keep it up.

As good as any 2001 performance of Slide Away. He really is on top form. He was sounding tired at that festival last week, but sounds better there. So it's obvious that his voice does need a good rest after a few gigs close to each other. It's just how it is. Some people can go night after night and sound good, some can't. Liam obviously can't at this point and hasn't been able to for a while. If his tours can be arranged where he gets decent breaks quite frequently, then he might be able to keep up decent performances. Not sure how possible that is logistically though with a major label wanting you out touring, promoting the record.. all within a tour budget. That said, i don't reckon many people care apart from those that frequent these kind of forums, which is a drop in the ocean compared to how many will be going to see him. 99% just want a good time and a sing-a-long of their own and probably not paying that much attention to compare his voice to a gig in 2006 or whatever.

People don't necessarily care as much as us but where it is a shame is when a load of casual/non fans watch him on TV e.g. One Manchester or Reading Fest. If his voice is bad on this particular broadcast, all those people viewing go by that one performance and write him off/slag him off.

This type of performance is the best he's sounded since I started following Oasis around 2004, easily. He's propelling the lyrics with a bit of power and holding notes and actually SINGING. Do you remember how he sounded doing other acoustic songs e.g. I'm Outta time?? Miles away.

I wish i was so excited about his voice like everyone else seems to be, but honestly to me he sounds just a bit better than in the last years in BE, but i don't care, it's so good to see Liam back, and i don't think it'll get any better, lol.

Has Liam been wearing in ear monitors or going with stage monitors? Im jw because it seemed like his voice got more fucked when he started wearing them back in the day. Idk why but maybe he was trying to sing in a way he thought sounded good but didnt. Idk im jw. I have always had that thought in my head because it went down hill once i saw him start wearing them

This is from the Electric Proms gig back on the DOYS tour, what the fuck was happening back then, seriously?
Who'd have thought back then we'd have the vocals we get from him now. Hell of a turn around.
