Rock n Roll star is a cringeworthy cheesy song. Completely saved by a great delivery by Liam.
Get someone else to deliver that song and it’ll be as cringeworthy as it gets.
Really not a great song in its own right.

Rock n Roll Star is a fine opener on an otherwise album filled with classic. Far from being Oasis' best, but one of the most important... lyrically.

Rock n Roll Star is a brilliant tune, top lyrics Agreed and for me it still remains Oasis's best album opener.

I think Rock 'n' Roll Star does have a slight element of cheese to it, but that's what makes it likeable. It's a naive, hopeful, beautiful song about one of the cheesiest yet relatable dreams there is - to be a rock 'n' roll star. If it had been any more wistful or edgy than it would have lost a lot of it's charm, for me. Same with Whatever.

One of the greatest thing about RNRS is that it isn't just about being a Rockstar, is about being anything you wanted to be, dreaming of a better life, Noel wasn't a rockstar yet when he wrote the lyrics, that was him hoping for something better.

Whatever is one step higher for me, both melody and production are superior. I mean, those strings, wow. And the guitars, perfection. The Middle 8, i fuckin hate most middle 8 because they kinda break the spirit of songs, but this one is perfection too.

It’s also far superior when Liam sings it. It loses all its life with Noel’s vocals.

Funnily enough I like Whatever but don't think it'd make even my Oasis top 40 Certainly a lovely melody and arrangement but I think it goes on a bit too long and I'm not a massive fan of the middle eight Agreed Liam sings it better though, I like the version Noel did with TCT in 2010 but that's the only time when I felt he did it real justice

Well I wouldn't put it in my top 30 or top 40. I've always preferred (It's Good) To Be Free and of course Half The World Away.

One of my favourite versions of Acquiesce is Mexico City 2006. Which generally was, in my opinion, Liam’s worst year vocally. Yet that nights performance of Acquiesce just packs more of a punch for me. Probably because it was the last, or one of the last, times they played it.

Acquiesce is always great live though. It’s probably my least favourite Oasis song, pre 2000 at least.

Yeah, I love The Fame.
Just needs some change to the lyrics a bit and Liam on vocals to have been really great.

Lord Don't Slow Me Down should NEVER have been classed as a single as it sounds like an out and out demo and that's the way it should have stayed.
Sunday Morning Call has been and is treated awfully by Noel and the Oasis team and his disdain for the song that has some of his best and personal lyrics in it is typified by it almost not featuring on Time Flies.
You've Got The Heart of a Star SHOULD have been a Christmas single.
Heathen Chemistry is NOT the awful album people make it out to be and songs like HIABP, PAITM and even SIL are actually quite a good listen when you play the album in full.
RNRS is the 4th best album opener.
