HC is the best Oasis Mk2 album - not that there is much stiff competition. SOTSOG comes second, and the shite that is DBTT and DOYS are best left in the gutter where they belong.

I’m still getting over the disappointment that was HC. So glad I wasn't a fan to experience it's release. Must have been crushing.

I’m still getting over the disappointment that was HC. Is that really an unpopular opinion?

Born On A Different Cloud? Sorry, what's all the fuss?
A really drab plodder - go and listen to John Lennon's solo albums instead. Liam writes some crackers, but this isn't one of them.

I respectfully disagree. However, I do agree about SOTSOG being second. The strongest songs on that album are some of the strongest of all of post-BHN Oasis, and the worst songs are all above a 4/10 for me. After SOTSOG, I'd say: DBTT (very consistent, good songs and vibes), DOYS (very good standout tracks but poor ending aside from Soldier On), and HC (good singles and B-sides, the rest is 6/10 at best imo) Some of the songs at the end are some of my favorite Oasis songs (Bag It Up, The Shock of the Lightning, I’m Outta Time). Tbf I think The Turning and Falling Down would fit in effortlessly with all their 90s stuff. Those two for sure. I think you could add in the alternate, more acoustic version of Waiting for the Rapture and the studio version of The Shock of the Lightning as well. The more acoustic WFTR feels a lot like a Talk Tonight or Half the World Away-type track, and The Shock of the Lightning is definitely cut from the same wool as Headshrinker and Bring it on Down.

the album versions of Rock 'N' Roll Star and Live Forever are boring as fuck...
Rnr is live always great, but LF is on stage also very weak (one exception: jools holland 2000 is amazing) - don't get all the praise for this song...

From post-2001: The Hindu Times Demo Songbird The Importance of Being Idle The Shock of the Lightning Falling Down To Be Where There's Life ...I could live without the rest. Some good tunes but nothing all that memorable. Aside from Songbird, Idle and TBWTL, same.

Rnr is live always great, but LF is on stage also very weak (one exception: jools holland 2000 is amazing) - don't get all the praise for this song... Its a song about living when the world was in love with Nirvana and the grunge genre in general, depresive and angst sounds. If the lyrics still blows people's minds now in 2017,imagine the feeling that was in the 90s. And I wasn't even born when the song came out,but its something magical to think that the world was in a time that the sad music ruled and Oasis came out of nowhere with a song about how special is to live, and enjoy being young. The melody and the song itself isn't the best thing in the world, but you gotta admit that the feeling around it is so amazing. Anyway, unpopular opinnion: This forum is more like an Oasis haters place than a fandom one. Most of the comments are about the bad things about the band (including me)

I remember at the time I was really disappointed with HC but I didn't know exactly why, I didn't liked The Hindu Times to begin with, SCYHO was ok, but then I bought the album and it did nothing for me, I was supposed to like it, but I didn't somehow, remember at the time there wasn't youtube yet, I didn't know much about music, production, mixing and stuffs, I just listened to the music and that was it, all I knew was that the album sounded so lifeless to me.

I struggle to get all the way through Slide Away. I think he sings "Slide Away" about 20x too many.

I think (I Got) The Fever is one of their most awesome tunes, and am fucked off that it doesn't seem to get that much love.

I’m still getting over the disappointment that was HC. So glad I wasn't a fan to experience it's release. Must have been crushing. far from crushing, man. amazing summer, playing guitar and singing in the park.. even All In The Mind was joyful. vocal harmonies always fun to do and shit easy to play drunk as fuck the singles were great First BIG Liam song with Born On A Different Cloud.. still one of his finest. Hung In A Bad Place is alright. love how they ripped off The Stooges for once She Is Love was the first song I never bothered to play or learn the lyrics.. it's just WRONG Little By Little/SIL was their first shit single too... "double A-side" and the production? we would never talk about it. it was all about PASSION. always been. still is.

Lyla is a bit shite, it's the prototype of the monotonous, plodding sound that would plague alot of NGHFB material later.

I would never intentionally listen to Lyla again, goes hand in hand with DBTT tbh. Nothing much on it to make me listen to that album.

Perhaps this crops up earlier in the thread (apologies if so) but my "unpopular opinion" (or guilty pleasure) is that I always quite liked A Bell Will Ring. Heard it played live for the first time (long before it was released) at Poole Lighthouse in 2004 and from then it always stuck with me. Also there's a part in the demo (second verse I think) where the effect on Liam's voice changes which I like. And Noel's harmonies on the love version through the DBTT tour were decent! That Poole Lighthouse gig remains one of my personal standout Oasis moments. Saw them a lot but that night was very special.
