Right...it's important to note that the iTunes streaming/rip/leak has different/custom mastering than the CD/vinyl versions.
Still waiting on a proper rip of this album.

Thanks for your efforts, guys. I'm just loving Freaky Teeth, it sounds like a clear recording of the live version. Just as it should be.
The ITHOTM is also pretty special.

You can go into your iTunes preferences>General> Import settings. Choose your desired import encoder. AIFF, Apple Lossless or WAV are all lossless. Apologies for being a nuisance SS, but what is 'lossless'? How do I get this copy?

Apologies for being a nuisance SS, but what is 'lossless'? This is like the interview all over again! Lossless means that none of the original data has been removed from the file. AIFF and WAV are both uncompressed and ALAC (apple lossless) is compressed. You can't actually tag WAV in iTunes and the files are huge. AIFF is tag supported but again results in very large files. ALAC would be my recommended option for CDs. MP3s or AACs from iTunes and Amazon have actually been compressed to an extent that some of the original data has been removed. This is usually the very high frequencies. The higher the bitrate, the less data has been removed and the higher the frequency cut off. When you listen directly to the CD, what is the quality you're listening? There is .mp3/.wav inside or is just the "real audio", then, copying to your computer, turning an .mp3/.wav?

AFAIK all rips/streams/iTunes etc etc are all compressed, loss/slight loss of quality, a 'real audio' rip is the way, no loss, for example a good quality rip is 320kbps where as 'real audio'(FLAC) is something like 1441kbps, obviously bigger file size, i.e. 320kbps = 140mb, FLAC= 600/700mb. that's my take on it, I not sure about frequencies an all.....still learning.
