Never knew about this thread. I gave up after skimming the first 6 pages. Monumentally imbecilic stuff in all directions. The most interesting thing I got out of it was that Jimmy Page was waaaaay prettier than Lori Maddox.

I never understood what elvis was all about. Most overrated artist of all time. He had one of the most amazing voices ever ('If I Can Dream' for example), but it was wasted on 90% shit songs and awful films. If he had a different manager or stuck to his roots in blues music, I think his discography would be 90% amazing.

I like jailhouse rock and his early 2000s remix of a little less conversation which actually made me listen to his discography. I never imagined that it would be average at best but i get what he represents and all that. Anyway, i pick Michael Jackson as the best solo artist of all time.

None of these artists are contemporaries of each other...
how can one presume to compare them adequately?

I'm not so sure that all of these examples are helping your case here... You don't like these songs ? Not the ones I highlighted. But it's all a matter of personal taste, right? In the case of I Am The Walrus and Tomorrow Never Knows... they are probably the most overrated Beatles songs out there. Neither one would be considered a great song if released by any other artist.

Especially for Tomorrow Never Knows which pretty much inspired other genres (electronica, shoegaze). That song's influence can be heard far and wide. Must be pretty good.

I couldn't disagree more with you. Sorry... I guess it's not my thing. It's plodding drivel that masquerades as high concept music to me.

Just goes to show that these 'Vs' threads don't mean anything. Everyones tastes and opinions differ and it's all subjective.

Tomorrow Never Knows and I Am the Walrus are my favourite two Beatles songs. It blows my mind the former was released in 1966; it sounds boundary-pushing today. I Am the Walrus is absolutely genius - that last minute sends shivers up my spine. As Nigel Godrich says, George Martin's greatest achievement. In regards to the thread's question, it isn't even a question. Make it The Beatles vs Pink Floyd vs Bob Dylan and it'd be more interesting.

If one can't comprehend what a mindblower Tomorrow Never Knows was at the time I feel kind of bad for them. It's still a mindblower 50 years later. Try some magic mushrooms and listen to it again. LOUD. Right when you begin peaking. I Am The Walrus on the other hand ain't up to much beyond its non-sensical lyric. Then George Martin went to work on it and turned it into something wonderful. His strings on that are sublime. Mr Martin was the best thing that ever happened to The Beatles and visa versa.
By the way, great avatar, Magic Carpet Ride. Moonie to a tee.

Changes every day though. Top2 is always the same.

Michael Jackson touched little boys. Enough said. What can I do to still make noise? I done touched on everything, but little boys - And that's not a stab at Michael, It's just a metaphor, I'm just psycho. Come here little kiddies, on my lap - Guess who's back with a brand new rap? And I don't mean rap as in a new case Of child molestation accusations.
