OK, I'd like to know: when/where/why/how did you become an Oasis fan? Is there a specific song? Event? Gig? Do you remember the first time you heard an Oasis song? Or heard about Oasis in general? Mine is a silly story, but I'd like to know yours first

March 1995. Friend lent me Definitely Maybe on cassette. Washing up dinner. Rock & Roll Star playing... I thought... this is good... and that was the start of the obsession. Little did I know that the drummer was in the process of being fired... events I would read about some 16 years later in his book!

I don't really have one specific moment. It was basically a growing development of becoming a hardcore fan: My friend used to play their records in the mid 1990s, but I was very young then. I got BHN for Xmas in 1997, and it was my first CD ever! For years I proclaimed them as my favorite band, and had all the subsequent releases, along with acquiring DM, WTSMG, TMP and FTM. But it wasn't until 2005, this forum, and the release of DBTT that my obsession grew out of control!

It was in late 2006, and I heard Don't Look Back In Anger on the swedish version of American Idol. And I fell in love with that song. Straight after that I downloaded "Oasis - MTV Unplugged 1996", of all albums, I know. Haha. Every time I listen to the version of Don't Look Back In Anger on the MTV Unplugged album, I get goosebumps. I thought that Noel were the lead singer at that time, btw. Haha. I think that was the first time I heard an Oasis song, really.

Funny story for me. I was driving in a mate's car and he played a CD which I thought was absolutely amazing - I was sure it was Oasis as I already knew Wonderwall off the radio and thought I recognized the voice. Turned out it was Mando Diao - who became one of my favorite bands soon. But I had already started trying Oasis songs and was amazed with DM and WTSMG.

My dad had WTDMG on cassette and I can vividly remember Hello, probably because it had a naughty word in it I properly got into Oasis in 2007 (Brits performance, which funnily enough I didn't really like but I wanted to go a bit deeper into the catalogue. Then I asked for STC for christmas 07 and the rest is history.

Was never really into classic rock, but one day my brother reminded me of this song (wonderwall) he had heard on the Rock Band video game. I recognized it and said, "maybe I should check these guys out". Went to youtube, heard Live Forever and my world changed so to speak. I heard, "Did you ever feel the pain, in the morning rain". I was like "Yes, Yes I have felt the pain in the morning rain!". haha. "These guys could change everything", and they did for me.

My brother would listen to them on a regular basis back in '95, then I caught Unplugged which blew my mind, and from there it's been Oasis followed by everything else.

2005 i heard a mash-up of Boulevard of Broken Dreams and Wonderwall playing on the radio...asked my mom what that other song was and she said that it was Oasis and that we have the CD in a drawer back at home...
subsuquently went home dug out WTSMG and noticed a song called Champagne Supernova which i had also heard before and burned just those two songs onto my ipod--within an hour i was back putting the whole cd on my ipod because it was just SO GOOD.
Found definitely maybe in the drawer a few weeks later (i guess i have cool parents haha) and listened to that for months straight!!!
been hooked ever since.

anyone else assume that Liam sung Don't Look Back in Anger when they first heard it or was that only me being stupid and not putting 2 and 2 together haha
I remember thinking to myself "wow, Liam sounds so different on this song haha"

I remember my dad bringing home WTSMG when i was about 10. At the time I had recently just got into music in a big was from watching The Beatles anthology. For some reason I thought that you were only able to like one band at a time. I used to say I hated oasis because everyone at the time were saying that they were the new Beatles. I finally got into them in 98 when my friend played me Magic Pie, strange song but it did the trick

Played Wonderwall with my guitar teacher in 2008 I guess. I knew the song before and I liked it a lot. Then I was looking for Wonderwall versions or something on youtube, I can't remember exactly, but I somehow bumped into this version of Live Forever: I was totally fascinated by this song, by Liam's voice...everything was perfect.

OK here comes my silly story I about 12 years old and I was at a summercamp with some friends and we did a little dance routine on 'Lemon Tree' by Foolsgarden. When I got back home I downloaded the song (illegaly) and the song I downloaded was mistagged as 'Lemon Tree - Oasis'. I really liked the song (keep in mind I was only 12 ) so I downloaded some other songs of 'that band' Oasis. Years later I was on a holiday, iPod on shuffle, and wonderwall came up and I fell in love with that song! Listened to it over and over again on that trip! Got home, told my friends about this 'new group' I found out about, and one of my friends then gave me the Familiar to Millions CD. Needless to say I was completely overwhelmed! Not a day has passed without listening to Oasis ever since

The amount of youngsters on here!
First heard Cigarettes & Alcohol on the radio back in 1994 and that was that. Think I was 13, got Definitely Maybe on cassette when it came out, still got it somewhere.
Can't believe that was 17 years ago now.....

I'm in the US where Oasis wasn't big at the time but in March 1995 I recorded off the Radio 'Live Forever'. I loved the song and played it a lot but never bothered to find out who sang it. After a while just moved on to the next thing. I probably didn't even know the band was British.
Later in the year, saw the Wonderwall video. I thought the song was decent but the video caught my attention because of the way Liam looked like he was 'too cool to be in this video' was very different.
In February 1996, I heard Champagne Supernova and was mesmerized by the 'Why, Why, Why'. It instantly became my favorite song. I bought the album, at the time when an album had four good songs on it, I was happy. This album, I liked *every* song and was completely stunned. A few weeks later, got Definitely Maybe only to discover that Oasis had sang 'Live Forever', a song I had discovered a year earlier. To me, that was affirmation, that this was my favorite band of all time.
