About a month after the split. A friend heard in the news and became a fan. He asked me if I ever heard Wonderwall and he was suprised I didn't. He showed me on Youtube and I was like and then there was the time were I kept hearing WW/DLBIA/CS about 200 times a day and started knowing more about them and now I'm the weirdo in my class because they're the only band I listen to along with BDI.

DLBIA was the first Oasis song I ever heard. It got me interested, I then heard Wonderwall and Liver Forever and I was hooked for life so to speak.

Similar to MagicCarpetRide, I am a very new Oasis fan (if you even can call me that). In America it was hard to hear about them except through commercials and such with AATW in an AT&T commercial and TSOTL in a Jaguar commercial. The first song I listened to was Wonderwall as many others have, and it wasn't spectacular for me, this was around 2007. Then out of the blue, one day I went on youtube and searched Oasis and watched it again in this order CS, DLBIA, SCYHO, Supersonic, Live Forever. From that point I DL'ed the newly released Time Flies and I was hooked. I even went as far as putting a lot of the TF songs on my graduation party CD (people didn't know what hit them). Honestly since then, my attitude toward life has changed completely. I don't think a day has gone by that I haven't sang a song out of the blue and wanted to go to my room to listen to an entire ablum. The song that made me go from "I love Oasis" to "This is my life" was Noel's Jools Holland version of Where did it all go wrong? It was so powerful that I had to download every song they ever made. It makes me angry that I just got into them, because I would give a testie to hear Morning Glory and Slide Away live. But that will never happen. Plus Noel inspired me to try guitar, and since then I can play/tried to play every song. I'm even going to be in a band with one of my buds this summer. I just wish I personally knew someone that was as big of a fan as I am (preferably a chick). Its a lonely existence when all your friends make fun of Liam's sneer (stupid americans). Thanks for reading my sad little story. P.S. The biggest regret in my life will undoubtedly be that I never got to see them live, now I can possibly settle for seeing my all-time idol Noel play his solo album in Milwaukee. Crossing my fingers.

For me, my first unconscious Oasis moment was on MTV when I saw Liam sitting on a chair, which was fixed on a wall. That left some impression on me, even though I did not known anything about them until Wonderwall was released. Since then, there was no day in my life without Oasis/BDI.

As awesome as Oasis's music is - Noel is my favourite songwriter - it's the whole story of the band which hooked me. A rags to riches tale, their engaging and hilarious personalities, and the link to the larger Britpop/Cool Britannia period is an awesome narrative, with the best soundtrack you'll ever hear. When I discovered Noel and Liam I realised listening to music wasn't just another thing to do like watching a film. It could be a way of life. I was into all sorts of crap until I was about 15. One day I was downloading music for my new mp3 player and I knew WW, CS and DLBIA so I thought I would listen to some other Oasis tracks. I know it's a cliche but after I heard Live Forever it all changed. I bought all the albums, got into 'real music' and clothes. I became a serious anglophile. I started playing guitar and just got a band together. This was all around 2008 and the lead up to DOYS. I couldn't wait till it came out and found it a couple days before release date at a local record store. I loved it and still do. DM is my favourite, but DOYS will always be the one that will take me back to that time. Never seeing them live (they didn't tour Australia for the DOYS tour) is one of the biggest letdowns in my life so far. Hopefully Beady Eye and Noel will get down here soon, or I'll have to wait till I travel to the UK. In the meantime I've still got the albums, live DVDs and now, this forum.

My older brother would always sing champagne supernova and play it. Also at school our teacher played WTSMG? for our end of year school party. This all would have been around January-May 1996. I remember I thought Oasis looked sooo cool. I was only 8years old. But I asked my mum to get me the album on cassette in june 1996. I always remember listening to Knewbworth on bbc radio1 my mum, didn't like me listening to it coz Liam swore LOOL.
so yeah some time around Jan-may 1996 was when I got into them.

I got into them around april 2009. I always knew Wonderwall and loved that song, because that's how it works in Europe. Everybody knows that and likes it, and most of them don't even know that it's Oasis. When I was 16 - 17 I started to really get into music and download and listen more and more to all kinds of bands. Later I heard wonderwall again on the radio and decided it was time to discover more Oasis songs. So I went onto Youtube and instantly fell in love with CS. Followed by C&A and MG in that order. Before I knew it, that was the only music I listened to every day, knowing the lyrics to almost every single song. Couple months later I got very excited to see them live, so I looked around for tour dates, only to find out the worst had happened. That got me into a bad mood for a couple of days. It's all good now though, as there's Beady Eye that I've seen live now and Noel who will probably also do a tour after releasing his album. They changed my life really. Changing my opinions on general things, I started listening to their influenes like The Beatles and all other kinds of band that I never likes before Oasis, wanted to have my hair like Liam, and wear Pretty Green clothes.

It was August 2008. About a month before that, I was into generally american 90s music, Nirvana, RHCP and the like. One day while I was searching for tracks to download to my phone, I heard Wonderwall on VH1, which was playing behind me while I was on the computer. I've naturally known the track since I can remember, as I was raised with good music in general, such as The Beatles and the rest of British music. After listening to Wonderwall a few times, I went on youtube to see how they perform it live. Then, I saw a link to Champagne Supernova's official music video. I thought "who the fuck calls a song Champagne Supernova? Seriously? Let's see." And then I watched. After the video ended, I was just gazing at the screen, shocked with awe. My life has been changed. Then, a couple of months later, I watched the MTV Live Wembley gig. T'was good. It made me download The Masterplan, which I did. After listening to it, I never looked at an Oasis song the same way. Nor the rest of the world. Then, I started hating blur. And robbie williams. And american music in general. Damn, Life's good. LG

I know, I'm actually quite shocked at the number of fans who have REALLY gotten into the band in the past 3 years...it's a good thing but I'm a little perplexed as to how and why it happened...especially because their last tour was not so strong.
Myself, even though I was a young kid I'd been listening to Oasis from the very beginning due to older siblings, so I just assumed that the majority of hardcore fans were carry-overs from the '90s like I was.
I'm pretty sure that if Oasis didn't play such a huge part of my formative years, I wouldn't be here today.

I'm such a new fan from even after DOYS and around the split up and I don't think it has anything to do with the last tour or album at all. I think we're just a new bunch of young people getting into contact with their music (and I mean especially their DM and WTSMG songs) for the first time and falling in love with it just like the people did in 1994 when they first heard Oasis. For me it was a friend giving me Familliar To Millions after I was stood perplex at a indie/rock'n'roll party where everybody was singing Don't Look Back in Anger at the top of their lungs as if their life was depending on it. EDIT: thanks for anyone replying to this thread, really loved reading all those stories

April 2002, 14 years old. Eduardo, who is my oldest friend, showed up here one day with a birthday gift. I was like "what the fuck? my birthday was 3 months ago". Anyway, he had The Masterplan in his hands. He introduced me to the band, giving me a quick idea of who they were, etc. Only listened to the album a couple of hours after he was gone. Man, I remember this moment like it happened yesterday. At that moment, I had never heard of Oasis.. Not even Wonderwall! Had no idea of who they were. So I put the record and this huge trip to another dimension started. Since the very first begining, when I heard Acquiesce's loud guitars and Liam's fantastic voice, I fell in love with them. Funny when I realised the band had two singer with such different voices. I remember thinking Going Nowhere was really special, most of that because of Noel's voice. As the album went through, I felt all these little emotions I had never felt before. Stay Young was another treat, made me feel so powerful. But the moment that made me a mad fer it was when The Masterplan started. By the end of the first chorus I was completely blown away. I remember going to the window smiling and saying to myself "I just found out the best band in the world".
From that moment on, the obsession started. We didn't have youtube back in 2002 (I don't remember of it, at least) so I bought all the records and searched about them on the internet anywhere I could. Not once I thought Liam and Noel were arrogant. Always found amusing the honest way they had to speak their minds. Always so funny!
The first time I understood what meant to be an Oasis fan was in 2006 when I first saw them live. It rained the whole concert, and once again The Masterplan was there to make me realise how special they were. Raining, people crying, hugging, chanting along.. Memories that never go away y'know?
Can't believe it's been 9 years since I got into them!

I wish I could remember!
It really confuses me that I can't remember. I lived in a country where the whole britpop thing wasn't that big, and none of my classmates were into them. It wasn't anything obvious to get into.
My earliest clear memory is recording Don't Look Back In Anger to a cassette, they played it in a chart show when WTSMG was in top10. That must've been late -95 and I was 12. Late -96 I was obsessed, that I know. More clear memories start from 1997 onwards:D
Can't remember much of the time before them, to be honest.

It's wierd how I remember really. I was 15 & alot of that time was a blur! It must have been the summer of 1995. I was into Rock music of the time in a big way, Nirvana & Gun's N Roses and the like. My Dad was into the Beatles & my Mum into Glam rock and I had always had an appreciation of good music growing up.
I was at a house party of a girl who had a free house. I went up stairs where there was a CD player, Hi-Fi and various CD's. Alot of it was cheesy pop & dance of the time. I saw within all this, at the top of a pile, Definitely Maybe. I immediatley remember the album cover which I picked up & stared at. Looking at the tracklisting I remember thinking I had heard Shakermaker before and it was like 'I'd like to teach the world to sing' but didn't know much else about the band.
Later the album was being played & coming back into the room it was already at Cigarettes & Alcohol that I heard. There were girls singing the "Gotta make it happen" bit. Next was Digsy's & then Slide Away.
C&A & Slide away really struck a chord with me though.
I remember getting the album on vinal as a presant not long after. I also got Whatever (EP) on CD which I LOVED. This was the 1st Oasis CD I remember getting and I still have it!
Following this there was alot of great bands of the time, sounds & influnences that were opened up to me from The Kinks to Ocean Colour Scene!
I first saw Oasis live January '96.
By Xmas of 96 I would have been classed as an "Indie Kid" and had been completley convertred & submerged into the Brit Pop era & music and Oasis were Kings!

No specific point tbh. Just became aware of them as a 10/11 year old starting to become aware of 'real music'. If it's of interest to anyone though, I made my Dad into a fan. Live By The Sea was on Channel 4 one time late at night, our video was broke so I rang him and asked him to tape it for me. He rewound it to check it worked, saw them doing I am the Walrus, was blown away and shot out to buy Morning Glory. Mad to be that impressed by a cover that you go and buy an album. I mean he'd heard some of the singles casually but not paid them any attention. All of a sudden he was this huge oasis fan who went and bought all the singles and everything, and that took me to a new level, as I suddenly became aware that they'd done a lot of great music outside of the two albums and Whatever. I taped every b-side off him, before buying them myself a few years later. The thing was, though, he got tickets to see them on the BHN tour but thought I would be too small and young to go with him - I was really short aged 13 - but he said to me the next day that he got it wrong and I'd have been fine to go. Wish he hadn't said anything tbh He made up for it in 2000 though, took me to see them at the Reebok Stadium (spit) and from there, I went from loving them and them being my favourite band to becoming completely obsessed with them. I've never looked back. Before the gig that day though, I had had a few pints (I was 16, but not much of a drinker) and said that I liked Be Here Now better than Morning Glory. My Dad, bro and Dad's mate looked at me like I'd just farted in church and they wouldn't let me have any more beer, assuming that was what made me say it! For the record, I definitely prefer Morning Glory

I also remember hearing All Around The World on the radio sometime. How odd is that, nobody plays that anymore. It was even the full version. That was after I had gotten to know them, but hadn't heard that particular song yet. I loved it instantly. Not much later MTV broadcasted the Wembley gig. First time I saw any Oasis live footage. Was blown away by Champagne Supernova.

first of all I'm verry different to all of you here I'm an Arab and you don't know how hard it's to find people who are listening to another language's music especially here not a lot of people listening to english music and if they are they'll be listening to mainstrem shit music
I've known oasis for a long time but never really consider chicking them out seriously I just thought they're that kinda bands with one decent song and it was wonderwall of cource
untill one day I discovered a new english radio channel and I liked it and they used to play every monday afternoon DLBIA so that guy was every munday opining his period with DLBIA and I really liked it when I first heard it and it grows on me week after week till the day I decided to chick these guys out and since then early of 2009 I became passionate with every thing about oasis and the gallagher brothers especially noel

I remember seeing the Lyla video and being completely disgusted, I was like "THIS is Oasis ?!" (at the time, like all my friends at school in France, I was seeing Oasis as this legendary band that everybody knows). And in this movie all I was seeing was a band being the cliché of rock'n'roll stars.
And then, two years after, in 2007, i was 17, I stumbled on Don't Look Back In Anger on my friend's Ipod and thought "woah, they might not be this bad". I remember searching about Oasis on internet after that. I don't know why but what really got me was a quote of Noel Gallagher that I found hilarious. I saw two or three songs from the maine road gig and then BANG! In a few minutes what I was thinking about the band was the exact opposite of what I thought two years before : authenticity and pure charisma. I decided to buy some albums.
A friend got me WTSMG and it blew my mind, but Definitely Maybe had been the real thing for me. First line of the first song and I knew Oasis was going to be the band of my life. And let's not even talk about Live Forever and Slide Away.
Not a day without their music since that. (never dared to watch the Lyla music video again though ;D)
