I don’t know if it was the author’s intention but I think Liam comes across as an arse in this, to be honest.

I still love it. I didn’t realise how much I missed Noel having fun on records until I got it.

Where does this stuff about Ashcroft using writers even come from? Has Noel just plucked it out of thin air?

FWIW isn't the sort of song I want Liam to be singing. It's too generic, it's not just Robbie I can imagine singing it, it could've been any half-competent pop star. Liam can do some things better than most other frontmen/women. I can't imagine anyone else carrying off Lyla, Go Let It Out, Supersonic or even something like Flick of the Finger. Why give him something that doesn't play to his strengths? To be honest, I don't think he wears "sincerity" all that well.
It's clearly the biggest hit of the record though so I suppose I should just skip it and stop moaning.

Personally, I think the ubiquity of artists using hired hands songwriters is a problem. It’s a short term gain, often producing excellent results, but I think it’s one of the reasons there are so few artists who can sustain a career beyond a decade and a half. They’re not developing their own unique songwriting voice as they could be.
I don’t blame Liam for doing it. He needed hits and it’s clearly been a huge success. But be fair, if Noel had used Adele’s songwriter for his first record, Liam wouldn’t have let that slide.

I’m not believing anything until I hear it from Noel, Liam has taken the piss with this so many times... When has he done this before? I can't recall off the top of my head. The backstage pass?

If I had the choice of an Oasis reunion or Noel continuing what he’s started with WBTM, I’d take the latter. Liam seems quite happy too.

I can’t for the life of me imagine what Noel’s motivation would be for reaching out. Sell a couple more copies to liam fans. True.

That would certainly prove that they are both capable of standing still and holding a newspaper. If it's only noel holding the newspaper it will prove Liam has rkidnapped him. 😁 “It’s easy to hold the news. Holding something with real joy in it is almost revolutionary.”

Frustrating thing is we will probably never get a follow up to these tweets. We won’t hear or see anything tomorrow and we will just be left wondering in this was a stunt or something genuine behind closed doors. Which is why..IF it happens then they have to take a picture of them holding a newspaper. That would certainly prove that they are both capable of standing still and holding a newspaper.

Did anyone see that ludicrous display last night? What was Jose doing bringing Ibra on that early? The thing about Arsenal is they always try and walk it in.

Where he is at the moment reminds me of Morrissey’s You Are The Quarry period - a huge success predicated on a long absence, a new generation of fans discovering the back catalogue, a solid (if unremarkable) new album and a pitch-perfect marketing campaign. It felt a long time coming, but the scale of the comeback seemed to surprise everyone.
Basically what I’m saying is, Liam’ll be alright so long as he doesn’t become a racist or write a novel.

1. Who Feels Love is pretty good - great, even
2. Noel should’ve retained lead vocals on I Hope, I Think, I Know
3. The recording of Cast No Shadow on Morning Glory is dreadful
4. A Bell Will Ring is the best non-Gallagher-penned Oasis track
5. Lord Don’t Slow Me Down (the film) is really, really boring without the band commentary
6. MTV Unplugged was Noel’s finest hour.

Does seem odd that a new U2 release doesn’t get to number 1, but I suppose they’ve held off the tide with regards to becoming a legacy act for the best part of two decades.

I don’t think Buddy Holly would’ve been anywhere near as good if he didn’t write his own tunes.
