And for this week: - New Alice Glass is bad (really generic and repetitive electro-tune that tries to be weird out of habit) - New Buddy is meh (Never heard of this rapper before, but this is just your run-of-the-mill braggadocios trap for me) - New Higher Brothers is meh (see above) - New Primitive Man is meh (It's doomy! It's metal! It's totally fucking forgettable!)- New Sammus is meh (low-key female rap that's honest, intimate, and really, really boring)- New Secret Sects is meh (very abrasive, chaotic rock with punchy drums and no real melody)- New QOTSA is decent (riff-y, simpl- oh, you know what it sounds like, it's QOTSA. Pretty bland IMO.)- New Horrors is decent (come for the bassline, stay for the...bassline) - New Iglooghost is decent (brilliantly produced madness that should be less mad and focus more on the pretty bits)- New A$AP Fergie with Migos is decent (standard club BANGER with some subtle pianos and some THICC bass)- New Enter Shikari is decent (manic indie with some electronic and metal flavours) - New Primus is decent (quirky, theatrical rock about...the colours of the rainbow) - New BROCKHAMPTON (some great rapping with great production, just wish it had a better hook) - New Liam Gallagher is decent (grown on me a bit, this. You should check this guy's old band out, too) - New Destroyer is...weird (like a futuristic vaudeville ballad with mad lyrics/vocals and gorgeous production)*- New Tori Amos is good (catchy, groovy, infectious alt-rock) - New The National is good (nice lowkey ballad that's touching despite having "foregone conclusion" in the lyrics)
*Anything with the line "the bride just pissed herself" gets a thumbs up from me.
+1, BDI was biblical tbh

Half of Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory have pitched up vocals if we're being real here... It's good to see that he really went hard for the live performance but given that this was right before Chicago, it's clear how much going all out had an impact on his vocals. Who knows what the issues were in Chicago. Could be voice. Could be personal. Could be something else. Could be better. Could be worse. Could be a horse jockey in France.

While I do like Step Out I'm glad it didn't end up on WTSMG tbh, I dont think it fits the album at all. Actually the first time I listened to it I thought for sure it was a Be Here Now b-side because imo it just has that BHN vibe to it.

What about 'I Get By'? I love it I like I get by too but I'm not sure it's single material tbh. I think greedy soul with the right production would be a better bet

When you guys rate, you do it based on Oasis, Liam's or worldwide material? Cos' I really can't understand how to rate that song as an 8 or 9. What does that make of Champagne Supernova or Slide Away? A 15?? Or even considering masterpieces from other bands all around the world. But if you're considering only Liam's tunes than I guess it makes some sense.... All I know is when people throw out the term "classic" or "masterpiece" on day 1, it probably isn't. There's truth in this.

Just listened to this. Think I like TWYUTD better, it's still good though. Looking forward to this album tbh Personally I think it lacks the punch that I expected after seeing some live videos. The production just ain't heavy enough to make the song justice. But I seem to be alone thinking this, which makes me even more depressed about the fact that I'm unable to dig this track As of now, at least. Did you only listen to the leak? There were comments on the yt video saying it wasnt quite the same. Also is this supposed to be a big single or something? Can't say I've been following the whole thing too closely
