It's lovely seeing Noel being happy and enjoying himself, but the stories about getting drunk with random celebrities are not that exciting after all. But Matthew McCantfuckingspellit!!!

They're working on a Heathen Chemistry reissue with five Andy Bell instrumentals as bonus tracks and the 2004 Glastonbury performance on a second cd.

Noel: "Liam stole the Chinatown melody from an old unreleased demo of mine." (I'm just going to create fake headlines to wind people up since no-one else seems to be listening ).

I don't have any instruments around me, but just by listening to the song:
Capo 3rd fret
Verse: Cadd9 - Em7 - Dsus4 - Cadd9 - Em7 - D - Cadd9 - G - Em7 - Dsus4 - Cadd9 - Em7 - Dsus4
Chorus: Cadd9 - G - Em7 - Dsus4 - Cadd9 - Dsus4 - Em7 - Dsus4 - Cadd9 - Em7 - Dsus4 - Cadd9 - Em7 - Dsus4
(In the second verse, he adds a G: Cadd9 - G - Em7 - Dsus4 instead of Cadd9 - Em7 - Dsus4).
etc. (you get the idea)
Thanks mate, I'll definitely give it a try when I'Ve got time Just noticed a mistake on the chorus. If should be: Chorus: Cadd9 - G - Em7 - Dsus4 - Cadd9 - G - Em7 - Dsus4 - Cadd9 - Em7 - Dsus4 - Cadd9 - Em7 - Dsus4

The bonus tracks shouldn't be on the poll to be fair. Out of the album tracks, Black and White Sunshine is easily the weakest. Love the strings, though.

28 waist here, can totally relate to what Noel is saying. Especially living in a foreign country where everybody is insanely tall.

There's no way Noel is going to start playing stadiums on his own. Keep on Reaching is great but I could see him not playing it because it's difficult to sing.

1. Who Built the Moon? 2. Chasing Yesterday 3. Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds

After a couple more listens, I've gone with Holy Mountain, It's a Beautiful World and The Man Who Built the Moon. They seem the centrepieces of the album to me.
By the way, I can't believe Holy Mountain is 10th on the poll.

Has anyone managed to identify the Brian Eno sample in the beginning? (If it's indeed a Brian Eno sample...) It sounds like something from Another Green World, but I couldn't spot it yet. If they paid to sample that intro it was fairly pointless huh! Unless Noel just wanted to get on Eno's radar for album number four... X
I think you're right and it's not an actual sample. Maybe there was a sample at some point and they decided against paying for it.
As for Noel working with Brian Eno, I doubt it could ever happen. They are very different people.

People writing that this is "Noel by numbers" are completely missing the point. Can he write E minor acoustic ballads in his sleep? Sure, and 99 times out of 100 you'll get another Shout It Out Loud. Dead in the Water is the outlier amongst them. I love Shout It Out Loud What chords we looking at for this? Seen in the other thread a few suggestions. Is it in Em, then a Cadd9 and G, with the little Dsus thing that Noel likes to chuck in every now and then? There's definitely a run down as well, though I'm not going to say my ear is good enough to pick up on the exact chords. Guessing Capo 3rd fret, as that's what he used it on during that session and Noel is genuinely so lazy I doubt he even bothered moving it. When I'm playing I normally just stumble on certain melodies that I'll then realise are actually songs - if you get me. Mucky Fingers, Shock Of The Lightning - I figured both of those out that way. Trying to do it this way more as opposed to watching vids etc.

This is the one track that would have fit on NGHFB, but at the same time it's probably one of Noel's best songs of recent times. Everything about it is great: melody, lyrics, arrangement, production...

Honestly, I can't decide. I can tell which ones are not: Black and White Sunshine and Keep on Reaching. That shows how fucking good this album is.
(Holy Mountain is still amazing).

Two random thoughts:
- If Love is the Law is like Solsbury Hill meets To Be Someone. - The Man Who Built the Moon sounds like a hybrid between Macca and Nick Cave, if you can imagine that. Love the strong dissonances on this one. That's definitely a first for Noel.

Noel's best acoustic ballad in decades. It's insane he wrote this one while he was working on the other tracks.

After two listens, I think this is clearly Noel's best solo album. That makes it the best Gallagher album since WTSMG for me. The lowest point of the record is Black and White Sunshine, and even that one has a nice uplifting chorus. The rest of the tracks are all highlights in their own way.
