I was born in 82 so I'm like someone who's technically a millennial with a touch of gen x. Watching Hey Arnold whilst listening to Backstreet Boys and playing Pokemon I was just slightly too old for any of those. The shows I'd watch on Nickelodeon were more Doug, Ren & Stimpy, and Salute Your Shorts. It's weird now to keep hearing from guys almost my age who admit they listened to the Backstreet Boys because as soon as they came out I already saw them as manufactured cookie cutter teen pop. Too bad I missed out on Nirvana. It depends on how you define youth. In the 80s it was all childhood and I had Super Mario Bros and Calvin and Hobbes and He Man. But my coming of age years were in the 90s and 1997 in particular was when I really became myself. So I was both a kid and a teen in the 90s but I think "80s kid" describes me more. That was a great time to be a five year old.

I like the Mike Flowers Pops version of Wonderwall more than the original.

I just hope that someone worth something will run in 2020. Never understood how the 2016 election was such a circus considering how many brilliant people live in this country. I’ll finally be voting! Thoughts on the Oprah story? She supported the Iraq war and she's complained about the estate tax which only affects the rich. We'd basically be getting a more likable African American version of Hillary Clinton. It's just more of the same mentality that has people talking about wanting the Rock to run. It's sheer identity politics. There's a certain segment of people who don't seem to care about policies at all anymore. And it's not surprising, because the media is corporate run and doesn't focus on policies. They spent the bulk of the election cycle talking about "grab 'em by the pussy" when if there's any one comment that should've gotten all the attention it was probably him talking about turning the US into a terrorist state by bombing and torturing foreign civilians. And it hasn't gotten any better. How many people do you think know about Trump's "shithole countries" by now? And how many of those people do you think know about this? Trump's first air strike killed an eight year old American girl in Yemen. But that's not in the American consciousness, because we've been spending all our time fighting over his racist comments on twitter. Democrats want it that way because then nobody brings up how imperialistic their own policies are. And so now the DNC is probably thinking all they have to do in 2020 is give people a chance to give the bigot their middle finger by electing the famous black woman so they can feel good about themselves, and then they can just use her to forward the same neoliberal agenda we've had under the Clintons and Obama. I don't know how serious and informed on the issues she is. My guess is she'd probably just rely on her advisers to tell her what to do like Trump does with Paul Ryan. And it's not gonna be Elizabeth Warren or Bernie Sanders whispering in her ear. If celebrities care so much that they want to be president, they can at least do what Reagan did; start out as a governor or a senator. Earn a reputation and show us what you'd do with one state before we hand over the whole country to you.

So I'm like 40 questions in, I then go to do something else, and then I come back to see the page refreshing automatically... can't be arsed to start all over again tbh ^^ Ouch. FWIW I'm taking it in Chrome using an Android phone and haven't had that problem. Try taking a break after one question and then come back differently to see what happens. ... and yeah, some of the questions so far are poorly constructed and vague. It looks like it was written in French and then translated to English. It has a lot of spelling and grammar errors, even on one of the buttons ("See a ramdom result.")

I wonder if Snoke was killed off just because his character in TFA was poorly received. I was only half surprised but I was thinking "no, it's too early, they're going to build him up more."
I usually don't care for meta jokes, but Luke's "that was a cheap trick" line at R2 referencing the criticism of nostalgia pandering was brilliant.

Is Trump really even a Republican or did he just piggy back them to do what he wanted. Don't think he's a Republican, a Democrat, a conservative, a liberal, or much of anything else. I don't think he's there to push an ideology because he doesn't have a real interest in what's going on in the world, hence his ignorance. He's just after what benefits him. I wonder how many times a day a thought goes through his head that isn't about his money or what other people think about him. That seems to be all his life has ever revolved around.

There was a lot going on in this movie. A lot. Some of it just didn't work for me at all. So much weird non Star Wars type stuff. I'm still processing it all. I do know this. I did NOT enjoy it as much as Force Awakens. I left the theater opening night with a huge grin on my face. Not this time. I echo this post except I'm not as sure that I didn't enjoy it as much as TFA. Well, no, scratch that. I didn't leave the theater as pleased as I was last time; definitely see where you're going there. But like you say, there's a lot going on and a lot to process. So right now don't know which I'll like more after a few more viewings. It doesn't have the same emotional punch. TFA having Han dying semi expectedly and all the special “look who’s back” moments made this look more subdued. But I see this aging better. And I'm of the opinion that TFA still holds up. All the battle scenes were excellently choreographed and beautifully shot.

I almost only listen to music by listening to albums all the way through when it's on my own time. Not just Oasis but anyone.
I actually listen to the latter Oasis albums a lot more. Not because I like them more but mostly because I don't mind using them as background noise or just having them on for the sake of music. I reserve 90's Oasis for rare special occasions or just for when I want that special experience. MK1 is aged wine and MK2 is cheap beer. And I don't say that to knock either of them.
Noel's solo albums I'll listen to maybe once every few months. But that has more to do with just being busier in the time since Noel's solo career started.
I could probably count on one hand the number of times I've played either Beady Eye album. As You Were was such a nice surprise I'll probably give those another look, but I'm not expecting much.

Fort Knox - I love it but it's one of the weaker opening tracks from Noel/Oasis. It keeps the tradition of making big promises for the rest of the album, but the pace may be a little too slow. It kind of has the same flaw, to a lesser as DYKWIM? of just droning on and promising a bit more substance than the album actually delivers. Holy Mountain - I guess the best thing I can say is there's no accounting for taste. I'm glad so many people like it, and it's fun to see Noel try something different, but the track does nothing else for me personally. Keep On Reaching - Love it and love that a song like this that flies so far from Noel's typical fare is now in his catalog. Exciting pairing of drums and vocals. It's a Beautiful World - It will be interesting to see how often in the future I skip over this song. The music makes me want to keep hearing it but the near-spoken word vocals don't. She Taught Me How to Fly - This was by far the song I was most eager to hear in its entirety when watching the trailer. It's probably my favorite on the album. Possibly even my favorite HFB album track. I want to go speeding through the desert in a convertible with this on. Be Careful What You Wish For - This may be the finest attempt Noel has yet made at true blue sixties psychedelia. And that's a bit frustrating, because it's still derivative. But as always he does a good take on what he borrows. Black and White Sunshine - It sounds kind of interesting now because it's new. Bet it gets boring and a little tedious to sit through over time. Interlude (Wednesday Part 1) - Hard to rate these fragments on their own because they're just instrumentals and thrive or fail depending on how you feel about the two songs they're bookending. If Love is The Law - I'm not feeling this one right now. I don't like how it changes so much during the chorus. Seems inconsistent and rushed. I don't see what's so different about this song and I bet most people on this site would be slagging it off as a weak ballad if it were on an Oasis album. My hope is he plays it when I see him live and I'll go home with a new appreciation for it. The Man Who Built The Moon - I guess I'm going to have to go listen to some Pulp, as others have said they did this sort of thing better. I would hope so, because I don't know, I just don't really buy into Noel when he tries to be super serious and dramatic like this. As with ILITL, I hope it comes off better live. Don't mind saying it begs for Liam's voice, either. End Credits (Wednesday Part 2) - See Wednesday Part 1. I don't know, I always liked the Swamp Song interludes because they were short but I don't think I like full-ish length songs that are just there to support other songs.
Overall, I'm very pleased with it. It has its misses, but it's exactly the sort of the album I'd have him make at this point in his career. I'd happily check out anything he does in the future that goes back to down and dirty guitar based rock 'n roll if and when he really has something, but for now that's in the past and I want to see him keep going in this direction. It's better than NGHFB and at least on par with Chasing Yesterday.
I don't usually comment on production, but this seems to have been very well produced. I wouldn't want Definitely Maybe to have been produced like this, but for what this album is, it works.
Really glad he finally got some decent artwork. The artwork for the first two HFB albums were unsightly. Stay in touch with that postman.
I have to say I really love how mixed the reactions are. Some of you are taking the words right out of my mouth, some of you sound like you must be smoking crack to me, and every opinion in between has someone expressing it.

I've been here under a few different accounts since somewhere between HC and DBTT. I remember we were talking about a promo poster for DBTT and someone commented that the way Andy was standing in front of one of the letters in the background it looked like he had a Hitler mustache.
The Soapbox started out as oasisforum.com, right? I was on there. And of course inet before that. My first email address that I really used was on oasiscentral.
Rain, I remember all those except maybe noelrock.

Here's what I would most want out of what's realistic:
Some years from now they make peace as brothers. No Oasis reunion, just visiting Peggy together, letting their kids know each other, etc. At some point afterward we see Liam walking out on stage to sing one of Noel's songs after making a secret flight or Noel walking out to play guitar on Liam's when they're playing the same festival. Just once or a few times out of the blue.
The first part is more important, but as someone said, even that might be too late.

Some of the drawings look okay but the ones on the right side doors are just weird. Liam's mouth is huge and his eyebrows are like twice as thick as they should be and Noel's have that strange loop on the right like he's in the Manson Family or something.

I've only heard WBTM? once now, so it's way too early for me to vote. But my initial thoughts:
Liam had a much, much better album than I was expecting. First four out of five tracks on it were songs that I genuinely wanted to hear over and over. And when I heard Holy Mountain and thought it was worse than anything from AYW including the bonus tracks (and I still do) the silver lining was the hope that AYW would end up comparable to or better than WBTM?. Then it would be an even fight going into the next cycle however many years away. So I wasn't rooting for Noel to suck, but I was rooting for Liam.
Then I heard Fort Knox and the live STMHTF, and thought Liam still had a chance. Beautiful World kind of tipped the scales over to Noel.
Now that I've heard all of WBTM?, eh, what I hadn't heard before may or may not be special. I have to listen to it a few more times. But BCWYWF is intriguing and catchy as hell and I really liked End Credits. I'm pretty sure the hand raise goes to Noel this time.
But they're both superb albums. Neither one is anything for them to be ashamed of.

Did you guys buy tickets for the tour? I'm asking because I got a ticket to see him in Detroit in February and I started getting emails from MusicRedemptions.com that said my ticket includes a digital download of the album as well as the advance songs that came with buying the album from Noel's store. I was pissed about not being able to download it on Noel's site until I remembered that and fished for the email. I just finished downloading it. It's weird, because as I remember I didn't even go through Noel's store, just straight to Ticketmaster. Oh wait, I used the Spotify code. That might have been it. As for my physical copy, I got an email yesterday from DHL saying my delivery was scheduled for Monday. I'll just point out that it was DHL that delivered me AYW, from England, and it was sitting on my Michigan porch on release day because Liam's guys did it right and mailed it in advance. So I'm glad I got my download after all. I've decided not to wait for the vinyl to listen to it because all my first time Oasis-related album experiences except AYW were with CDs anyway, which isn't much better to my ears than mp3. I'm still mad for the rest of you, though. And yeah, Amazon has their auto-rip deal so this is just going to make people go there next time. Noel sure took on some incompetent motherfuckers for management. He could've come here and hired any of us and we'd be doing him a better job. Walk to the store and buy a copy It's Black Friday. Have fun doing that.

Resisting..staying off twitter etc. I'd really like to wait until my vinyl shows up but don't know how long it will take to get here. Anyone know if US orders ship from US or am I waiting for mail all the way from UK? We'll probably be getting it from the UK. I got AYW from the UK but they shipped it in time for me to get it on the release date. I was checking around Noel's store to see about adding that lenticular print to my order and noticed they said the album will ship a few days ahead of release date so that probably means they're shipping it to us a little earlier to allow for transit. Still I'm a little worried that tomorrow is the day after Thanksgiving and whatever service they're using might be too swamped to get it out to me on time.

It won't happen and aside from feeling sorry for the fans who never got to see them I don't want it to happen. Their solo careers are showing far more promise than what we might get from a new Oasis album.

I'm gonna say Live Forever because for me that's their ultimate song and always will be. You either get Oasis or you don't. My favorite quote about Oasis: "There's no point theorizing or pontificating about Oasis. You either get it or you don't. ...If their anthemic guitars roll over you in an orgasmic rush and Liam's narcissistic stoner drawl kicks dirt in your eyes and carves holes in your heart, you've got it." - Melody Maker critic Sarah Manning reviewing Live Forever in '94 as single of the week

Gorillaz - We Got The Power
It was getting dumped on in a thread here a while back so I gave it a listen last night and the chorus is making me listen to it over and over. Forget that you can't hear Noel; my only real complaint is it's way too short. If the chorus was on a New Order song it would have been boss.

Holy Mountain is shit. I do love Fort Knox, and it will be another great stage entrance song if that's how it will be used, but it's also the weakest opening track so far from HFB. Put it on a U2 album and nobody would know.
I have every reason to hope this will be a great and addictive album. But it's still possible that when the dust settles and we've heard it all I'll prefer Liam's album.
