I'm gonna be honest - those brazilian kids from The Outs had better tunes than this. And the vocalist sounded better too. In your opinion. Of course it's his opinion. He doesn't need to add "IMO" for everyone to know it's his opinion. Everything everyone says is opinion.

Sure. Of course a lot depends on your taste, but here's a bunch of stuff you probably didn't hear (no need to include big releases in recommendations, in my opinion) The Gaslight Anthem - American Slang Farrah - Farrah The Posies - Blood/Candy Locksley - Be In Love The Young Veins - Take A Vacation! Rooney - Eureka Taylor Locke & The Roughs - Grain & Grape Taylor Locke & The Roughs - Marathon The New Pornographers - Together The 88 - The 88 Teenage Fanclub - Shadows All quality albums. You forgot The Hold Steady "Heaven Is Whenever" Well, I didn't put it there because I think of that as a mainstream record. I guess it's not really, though, so yeah, throw it on there. Good taste, man.

So am I the only one who's decided to wait for a leak of the full album?

^ To be fair, neither does Noel. They both have admitted as much, especially Noel. I will never understand how a music fan will purposefully ignore anything that's not popular ("I don't care about what's not in the charts" or something to that effect)

^ I don't really care for the approval of those who like jazz and classical. If you dig those forms of music, more power to you, but nothing beats the perfect three minute pop song, of which Sir Paul McCartney is a master.

I know, but they're 30 second clips, man. You can't judge a record--good or bad--without hearing the whole thing.

So you've heard the record?

I do think that people were more looking for a reason to jump on Souldigger as opposed to responding to what he said specifically about the preview clip. I called him an ass and although I don't know him, he certainly is an attention whore, at the very least. The Facts and Fiction section is riddled with nonsense "look at me!" topics and fake news stories.

^ We seem to be on the same page for a few things. Couldn't have said it better myself. I'd love if BDI's album blew me away, but I'm not going to lie to myself and say it's brilliant if it's only adequate.

^ True. BDI can certainly do well enough to make a living, but fresh faces go a long way in music.

Souldigger's an ass. I'll be the first to say it's foolish to call this amazing based on such a short video, but it's equally foolish to say it's shit for the same reason. It's not even 30 seconds long and it's just one riff played over and over. There's no melody there. You can't possibly judge music without hearing the melody. It makes no sense.

This year has been amazing for music. Not necessarily in the mainstream, but if you really only listen to stuff in the top 40, you're missing out on pretty much all the greatest music being created.

Well, rather than saying "BTL isn't a proper single so it doesn't have to be that good" let's just judge each song for what they are. A song. If it's good, let's call it good. If it's disappointing, then let's call it disappointing. No excuse-making. Liam, Andy, and Gem are all grown men. They know that anytime you put your music out there it will be ripped to bits by thousands of people. No need to defend their honor all the time.

I think the best way to sum up both songs is that they both aim to be simple, fun, energetic songs, but those types of tunes really only work with a strong, catchy hook behind it. I don't blame BDI for SOTS lacking one, because it's a cover. But BTL is in dire need of a true chorus, in my opinion. I think of that song the way Noel thinks of Boy With The Blues.

It's alright. I don't really see how it's such a polarizing song. To me, it's just...there. It's certainly not bad, but I would never call it pure awesome. No offense meant, though, just my take on it.

Interesting, for sure. I guess we're guaranteed at least one "la la la" chorus from Liam on the album (Wigwam, by the sound of it.)

Maybe the Jesus/God thing was silly as I don't believe in either. As for the rest, I'll give you Shakermaker but Columbia is probably better than anything on DBTT which to me just drags and doesn't have a single song that excites me enough to think "I'll listen to that album, some good tunes on that". Well, neither do I. That's fine, man (NL4E had valid points as well). If you like those tunes then it's cool. I like them too. I don't hate them or anything. I've come to realize that we're all wired so differently when it comes to music, and I actually find that fascinating about human nature. Someone can hear DLBIA (like anyone on this forum) and think it's a mind-blowing song. Someone else can hear it and feel nothing, as hard as it is to believe. And that's okay, too. There's my little peaceful rant.

Read it again. I didn't say better. I said more consistent. Definitely Maybe has much higher highs than DBTT, but DBTT is a smoother listen. I'll stand by that. Live Forever and Slide Away are miles better than anything on DBTT. You could throw Supersonic in as well. But Columbia and Shakermaker do drag on for me.
There's no need to jump down someone's throat for an opinion. Maybe "tough guy act" was the wrong phrase to use, but the smack thing, the "Jesus weeping", dramatic nonsense like "How in gods earth" is just unnecessary.
