Smashing pumpkins to release first new album with (3/4 of) the original lineup (though they are the most important 3/4): billy corgan, James Iha, jimmy chamberlain, with longtime collaborator Jeff Schroeder. (Personally I'm most exited about the return of James Iha, particularly alongside jimmy chamberlain) Shiny and Oh So Bright vol 1: no past, no future, no sun Released nov 16th 2018 Tracklist 1. Knights of Malta 2. Silvery sometimes (ghosts) 3. Travels 4. Solara 5. Alienation 6. Marching on 7. With sympathy 8. Seek and you shall destroy Not sure if it's all band members on writing credits but I think so. Solara gets better with every listen and I think Silvery Sometimes is their best and catchier single in a long time, so it's a good time for the band. But I can't believe Billy split a record into two albums again after what happened with machina and machina II (only the first was officialy released and he leaked the 2nd part in the early 00's), or after Teargarden (4 volumes, only two were finished). I'm really looking forward to the Machina reissue, assuming it ever gets released. It seems the album is always going to be cursed with distribution difficulties.

theyknowwhatimean somewhere else on this forum you'd mentioned the Manics' "you stole the sun from my heart". That's pretty impressive that you recalled it didn't make much of an impression at first for me! Somehow it's become one of my favourites. The guitar riff in the verses sounds so deceptively confident as it shuffles along, just like the words to the song. Then the chorus comes like a release of that building tension, as you'd mentioned. It's one of those songs that just sound so effortless. I didn't ask you: what were your favourite Manics songs?

Now I’ve just gotta wait for my dad to get home and then we’ll be giving it a spin. 👍🏻😎 Lucky man that sounds pretty special. What did your dad think of it? The thought of father and son enjoying a new record for the first listen together is nicer and more heart warming than anything a store bought greeting card could ever capture. (Still waiting on my copy)

I've not quite worker them out 100% yet myself but it's capo 3, revolving around Em, with the usual Noel chords. The chorus I think is Dsus2 and Cadd9 mostly with an Am7 or two thrown in. (Not particularly helpful I know but I've not got my guitar on me to verify)

Maybe I'm alone here but a movie about a ragtag bunch of hardcore fans from all over the world brought together by their common enduring love for their favourite band might be worth watching. Especially if it's about this forum.
Netflix will eventually run out of original ideas and this will be groundbreaking stuff.

What do people here think of Who Feels Love? I've always been in two minds about it. I like the melodies and the production for the most part, but at the same time it feels a bit like Noel was scraping the bottom of the barrel in terms of ways to ape the fab four. I quite like it, both the album version and live interpretation. May not have chosen it as a single but I like it as track 3. The Beatles influence is clearly there but it's never bugged me.

18,104. How you doing with the Manics, mkoasis? You heard all the albums yet? What are some of your favourite tunes? Funny you should mention that. I just received the copy I ordered of Know Your Enemy, which had proved impossible to find in person. It's still one of my favourites of the albums I've heard. I've not heard Rewind the Film or Futurology yet (and the b-sides album Lipstick Traces - worth a listen?) but I'm definitely glad I took the time to get into this band. I'd say my too 5 tracks are: No surface all feeling Freedom of speech won't feed my children You stole the sun from my heart International blue This is yesterday

Anybody here a fan of The Coral?
I love their version of Dyer Wanna be a Spaceman and today I heard another couple of their songs, Late Afternoon and another I can't recall.
What would you recommend as their best album to listen to? Or a few favourite songs?

It's irritating that Management doesn't release anything anymore. Whatever happened to the Knebworth DVD release? Shameful. It seemed like a sure thing a few years ago, I wonder what changed. Maybe something to do with Alan? Only thinking that because he was blurred/removed from performances in the Supersonic doc, and he'd be all over knebworth. Some legal thing maybe?

There's also Grand Rapids orbits ballroom, Michigan in April 1995 I think. Can't remember the exact date and the quality is listenable but you get to hear Noel do Up in the Sky, I am the walrus, and supersonic I think.

Never see this song mentioned. One of my favourites. I fell in love with the Human Conditions album last summer, just heard it like I hadn't since it came out and really enjoyed it. Listened to it many times over.

If I was to see him tonight Lord don’t slow me down Stranded on the wrong beach Flashbax Freaky teeth Leave my guitar alone Revolution song Take me away The girl with x ray eyes While the song remains the same Id pick you every time Step out Carry us all Cigarettes in hell Shout it out loud Here’s a candle for your birthday cake Going nowhere Falling down Alone on the rope One way road The man who built the moon Now that's a solid fans set list - 9 songs never played live before including plenty of SOTSOG.
