It is a nice little song but I hope we get all new stuff on the second album. Eh La is really bside material. The main thing going for it is that it's never been released but springs up very occasionally in gigs. If you call it b-side material, I say it's on par with Oasis B-Sides from the first two albums Then I'm happy for you that you enjoy it that much You should definitely tweet Liam what you just said about Eh La being as good to you as an early bside. You'd probably make his day.

I am listening to Springsteen on Broadway. I’m sad that I didn’t make it up to NYC for this, but at least I can listen to it& watch it on Netflix. I've saved this to watch too. After matt abd funhouse 'a comments on the Nebraska album I think I'll try to watch it tonight.

I Believe In All wouldn’t be a bad direct replacement for TNOR. Fuck everything about TNOR. I get that you really hate TNOR but don't you think IBIA would sound really out of context? It's always to me sounded like a DBTT outtake, which it basically is. Same with BWTB. That track 10 spot was perfect for Record Machine. Even the inferior HFB version would have fit the spot well.

The Escapist , forgot to say, The Cure played this unreleased song on most nights of their 2016 tour, and again this year: The Cure fans online seem to think it's about Robert's mum, who I think has passed away in recent years. So odds on this will be on next year's album. In line with Robert's claim that he only writes two kinds of songs--Lovecats and Faiths--this is definitely one of the latter. And I'm more than happy with that. It sounds like it could be a real heartbreaker. The way he sings "And I kiss you" in his very smallest voice reminds me of 'The Same Deep Water As You', one of his finest pieces, in my opinion. And it's got those big, dramatic Disintegration keyboards as well, the first Cure song in a long time to have those. There's also this one, though I don't know what I make of it: Funny you should post this, I'm in the middle of Disintegration right now. Those soaring wall of sound keyboards pulsing through Last Dance. I'm eager to hear more updated on this album. It was supposed to come out 10 years ago, following on the heels of 4:13 Dream. But I imagine the album well get will be far from the same thing.

I'm hoping the Hives will have something new for us in 2019. The last album (2012) wasn't that great IMO (6.5/10) but I love all the others. Besides, it's been so long. We're about due another half hour of furious rattling guitar music.

When it comes to double albums, I'm usually happy with them being as they are. One double album I'm currently listening to (and I seem to listen time every December) I'm thinking I might have made into a more lean single album. The album is The Cure's Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss me Kiss me. I like it as it is but I think this arrangement sounds good: The kiss Catch Breathe (bside) If only tonight we could sleep Why can't I be you? How beautiful you are... Hot hot hot A chain of flowers (bside) Just like heaven Like cockatoos Icing sugar A thousand hours I'm not sure about how the album closes, sonically speaking, but I otherwise like this sequencing. The two bsides here are some of their best work. theyknowwhatimean

The hives - the black and white album
It took me a while to appreciate this one. I didn't really begin to enjoy the songs off the album until I saw them live on this tour. They were great, clearly having fun with one another and the audience, not taking themselves too seriously but giving their all musically. It was a great concert. My only disappointment was that they didn't play any songs off their first album Barely Legal (1997), which is a hell of a firestorm.
They walked on to A Stroll in Hive Manor Corridors, opened with Hello Little World, then closed the main set with Tick Tick Boom. Encore was A Bigger Hole to Fill, Hate to Say I Told You So then Return the favour.

I've always loved This Time but felt it was regarded as the runt of the UH litter. The Beat Nick remix hopefully makes people appreciate it more. I love what he's done with it.
I also never truly appreciated Neon Wilderness until I heard the live version from Haigh Hall.

Ranking the track 9s: 1. She's Electric 2. Digsy's Dinner 3. I Can See A Liar 4. Keep The Dream Alive 5. Be Here Now (sorry but for me the album version is boring...if it was more like it was live, it would be top) 6. She Is Love 7. Ain't Got Nothin Interesting to see all the songs that ended up as track 9s all together. Some very unpopular songs there. For me, BHN is the best, followed by She's electric, Digys Dinner then probably a tie between KTDA and AGN, depending on how I feel.

Why don't people like Oasis' cover of Heroes? It's Noel's euphoric Be Here Now voice belting it out. Love it. It's not bad but it's nothing too special either. I liked the acoustic version Noel did in jan 1998 more.

I'm worried that I'm passionate about too many things to be successful. It's hard for me to focus on writing, or chess, or self-improvement, or anything for a long enough spell at a time to really make something great happen. One week I'll write every day, the other week I'll just play chess, the other week I'll diet and socialise, and at the end of the year I'm good at all of them but not great in any one of them. Not sure what to do. I know that feeling. But just the fact that you make some time for the things you enjoy is so important. And it's harder to find time for so many interests as you get older. You also likely won't see improvement over the short term but just keep at it and others will likely notice it before you do. You're a clever, talented person, with a lot of new passions to discover and engage in through the rest of your life. It's an exciting journey.

Bob Dylan - Blood On The Tracks I'm not going to do another lengthy review, so let's just do a ranking of the songs instead: 1(9-10/10). Tangled Up in Blue (well, obviously) 2. Idiot Wind (even better than I remembered, and a nice twist at the end too) 3(8-8,5/10). Shelter from the Storm 4. Buckets of Rain 5. Simple Twist of Fate 6(7/10). Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts (once you get past that almost confrontative opening harmonica there actually is quite an intriguing story to be found here) 7(6,5/10). You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go 8. If You See Her, Say Hello 9(5-5,5/10). Meet Me in the Morning 10. You're a Big Girl Now (you expect better lyrics from him, at least on an album like this) Interesting to hear your thoughts on this classic. For me, A Simple Twist of Fate has always been my favourite, followed by If You See Her Say Hello, which i find quite powerful. The final two songs are Dylan at his best. This is one of those albums where every song is so good, your favourites shift with each listen.

I suppose there is a plan to eventually re-release the Anthologies 1-3 at some point? The rest of the albums, including the Past Masters compilations have been given the glossy digipak treatment so I'm sure they'll put these out when there's a lull.

funhouseI really like that album too, it was my first Dylan and probably many others' too, recommended to me by my friend who worked at my local HMV back then. My favourites are Tombstone Blues (the sun's not yellow, it's chicken!), ballad of a thin man, Queen Jane or whatever it's called.

Round Two: U2 or Arcade Fire? U2 definitely. Hard to argue with their 1980-2000 output.

I would have liked to hear them do this one live a few times. It seems the sort of song made for live performances. Stick it in between Mucky Fingers and Champagne supernova.
