I've not heard anyone describe it as flawless but there's a small group of people who describe it as the best thing he's done post-'Be Here Now', give it more praise than I believe it deserves and make out that certain songs are much better than they are. Don't get me wrong I like the record but I agree with your statement that doesn't quite hold up in the middle. Personally I can give or take Noel writing songs outside of his usual comfort zone. As long as the songs are good that's all I really care about. I think it is clearly better than anything post-BHN, mainly because the bar is so low. Clearly I rate 'SOTSOG'-'Chasing Yesterday' much higher than you. How I'd rank 'WBTM?' amongst them is hard to say but it'd certainly be closer to the back than the front. What I will say for 'WBTM?' is that its worst song might be better than any of them other albums worst songs. That said I'd also say it's best moment is probably lower than any other best moment on those same albums.

I'll take Holy Mountain / The Man Who Built the Moon / Dead in the Water over anything on that record. Giants has Go Let it Out, Gas Panic, and Roll it Over, though, which can duke it out with the best of them. (I also think Noel's solo debut is class and worth throwing in there as well. With less Sardy Muffle, it might be the best of the lot.)

Post-Nineties Noel-Involved Albums:
1. Who Built the Moon? 2. Standing on the Shoulders of Giants 3. Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds 4. Chasing Yesterday 5. Dig Out Your Soul 6. Heathen Chemistry 7. Don't Believe the Truth
Giants would pip it with better tracklist choices. NGHFB would rise with better production. WBTM gives me a solid tracklist with a gorgeous sound, a barrelful of great tunes, and a concise runtime. Can't say the same for the rest.

What I consider to be the best song from each album. 2) I'm not just talking about 'SOTSOG' and 'Chasing Yesterday' but every album in between too. Here's my list of the best songs: 1) The Importance of Being Idle 2) Gas Panic! 3) The Shock of the Lightning 4) Ballad of the Mighty I 5) The Hindu Times 6) Broken Arrow 7) It's a Beautiful World Doing a worst list is a little more tricky cuz it depends if you include the 2 'Wednesday' interludes. Also I agree about Noel's debut. I think that'd be my pick of the bunch.

Aka...Broken Arrow 5. Falling Down 6. Songbird 7. In the Heat of the Moment

1. The Importance of Being Idle 2. Bag It Up 3. Everybody's On the Run 4. Gas Panic 5. Dead in the Water 6. In the Heat of the Moment 7. Songbird If we're not counting bonus tracks, then my WBTM pick would be Fort Knox, at the bottom of the list.
Pretty Boy would probably slot in after Dead in the Water, of the CS tracks we have so far.
