What I loved is that The River and Shockwave stood up tall against all the Oasis tunes, didn't sound out of place. Yeah great point mate.

Shocking band, shocking guitar and drum sound. How much are they getting paid for that ? The guitar set up is ridiculous. Wow, i Dont even know how they achieve such a bad sound with such a great equipment. Too bad, Liam's vocals sounded good and the drummer is not half bad. Seen them live or a broadcasted show? There is big difference. I played with the dandy warhols a few years back and they sounded immense, but they never have a good sound with broadcasted featival bootlegs or live videos. The broadcast stream. The tv mix can be shit you're right but the guitar sound and weak backing vocals wont much differ, an effect is an effect. That was my main concern really. There's not bad musicians overall from all the performances i've seen the past couple of years, just it seems they're not into it or are afraid of something. Feels like it's their first gig every time, there is just no chemistry between the drummer and the bassist and between the two guitarists. It feels like Oasis in the 2000s when Jay Darlington joined briefly when left left and had to learn the part in 24 hours. Are they rehearsing enough ? Maybe just a bit of alcohol before going onstage could help

Liam’s backing band are god awful. You know the band is bad when Liam’s voice is probably the only thing making it sound ok. That’s not a dig at Liam’s voice but it’s not unfair to say his voice had often become the weak link when playing live. But in this solo venture, he seems the only one that belongs there. The band sound like amateurs, incredibly ropey. Jay Mehler has stolen a living as a musician. He’s garbage. I’m not sure how he convinced both Kasabian and a Liam he could play. Con artist. Looks like a bootleg Noel and can’t even play as well as Bonehead, who was a very solid rhythm player to be fair Drew is a good bassist but someone take that mic off him please. The other guitarist is ok but has no conviction or balls in his playing. Seems like a session guitarist that plays with pop artists and not a rock n roll guitarist that can be part of driving a band. Technically proficient but just nothing about him. Drummer sounds like a guy that’s played drums at a music college and gone through those kind of courses. I bet he’s a graduate of music uni, I can hear that kind of playing a mile off. I dunno, just seems like they could find a much better band that know how to play this kinda stuff properly. I know they can play it, but not with the right attack. Aside from them, it wasn’t bad apart from bold and the one after that killed everything. It is what it is really. Oasis or them solo are not the kind that put on a big flashy spectacle, so at a festival it’s never going to blow people away. People either like the songs or they don’t. Bang on. Liam looked pissed off throughout the performance, too. Mentioning the drummer going on strike, telling the guitarist (I don't even know his name) to slow down several times during the set. Drew's vocals on Roll With it were actually disgraceful. The drummer is alright, but a bit vanilla. Jay is fucking horrendous, too. Liam looked relieved to be walking off stage yesterday. He looked embarrassed to share it with a few of them. Problem is, he doesn't know how organise a group of musicians.

Problem is, he doesn't know how organise a group of musicians. That's probably it. Oasis used to rehearse a lot, with Noel being the perfectionist he is. They had better musicians too, but the main reason here is that Liam does not really know how make a guitar sound good. Or drums.

His band are just awful. I can't stand them. Honestly it just makes it look like such an amateurish act.
Then you watch The Killers and see the difference. 😥
There's a reason we still yearn for that Oasis return, seeing those muppets every gig. 😭

I couldn’t read the comments about the gig in real time, as I was there.
Just had a look at the first few comments about the band from the beginning of the gig to Roll With It.
Although I agree with a lot of the comments, and something seriously needs to be addressed, here they are totally unedited and no negatives cut out.
“Sounding pretty damn good imo. Band on point too so far.”
“true band too”
“Jay did seem to butcher the RNS intro a bit but, apart from that, band sound great so far!”
“The band nailing Columbia”
“Band sounding good”
“we can say that the band is sounding VERY good”
“Band sounds GOOD”
“Band is nailing this to be honest. Sounds big like it should be”
“Band is great on Columbia”
“The lead guitarist has come out of the shadows a bit since the last tour”

The Hackney gig was fantastic but maybe that could've come across badly on tv.

He is but I wouldn't label him as a bad drummer. Just need to get a bit more drive on his drumming. Was shocked by Drews vocals since I heard him on Morning Glory the first time. That's a crime! Jay being married to the daughter of Ringo helps I guess... Sure them all nice lads and cool to hang out with but yeah the performance is not good enough for big gigs like that. Already been thinking that on the first tour but now they had enough time to get their shit together with the Oasis songs

What I noticed is with a lot of oasis songs especially is that it starts out good (barring jays lead) but then it’s just falls apart into a muddled muddy mess. Feels like there is no passion or drive by anyone to hold it all together. Or to get the momentum back on track. Liam carries every song on his back. It’s really striking when you compare to Noel’s band who are so crisp. I think Liam’s band need to be young new musicians but I can’t help but wonder what it would be like if he just had Gem or Chris.

I remember someone recently wishing for Liam to do a cover of Gimme Shelter.
Could anyone imagine what that performance would have sounded like? I get nervous thinking about it. The intro would be enough for Mick Jagger to put a gun to his head.

Yeah a lot of very valid comments about the band on this thread, but was astonished to read back a few pages and see those positives, it’s like people were talking about a different band/gig.
Anyway I had a fantastic time, really really loved it.

He was sounding phenomenal at Glastonbury. Best I’ve heard from him since well before 2002.
Roll With It was as good as 1996. Perfect. (Backing vocals sucked though).

When you pick something apart so forensically as people do here on a regular basis you tend to get that contradiction. Its also worth noting who exactly is saying what, you find a lot of repetition.

I’m going to continue saying it: it’s a real damn fucking shame that we now definitively have the best Liam vocals of this century, and Noel’s best ever material from DBTT onwards, for Oasis to remain defunct. Makes zero sense.

Nice to see a positive thread, too much negativity on here lately. I agree that Liam did a top job.

Stormzys a great performer. Not nearly into his music but he’s an icon to so many - whatever a modern rock star is, that’s it and he seemed to captivate everyone there.
Watched The Killers though - generally like them but don’t own any of their albums and can’t say I’m a fan (I love a handful of their tunes) but man, what a great frontman Brandon Flowers is. They absolutely nailed it. One of the greatest band performances ever at Glastonbury.

Look at the Oasis songs Liam played at Glasto:
Rock N Roll Star, Morning Glory, Columbia, Slide Away, Roll With It, Cigarettes & Alcohol, Wonderwall, Supersonic, Champagne Supernova
Oasis. Legends.
