Liam's delivery of the "you're a snake" line reminds me of the BadgerBadgerBadger video and I love it

6.2 for Apple?
Hahahahah!
Sometimes I wonder if votes on this sub are just to troll. If that poll were taken today, I suspect it wouldn't get anything more than a 4.

Updating my vote to a 7 because the more I listen to it the more it sounds like Oasis-light. It’s over produced. Music needs to be played by a band not a producer and they need to let Liam go instead of holding him back. Feels like they have him on a chain on the chorus, just so they could make the song pop enough

Video for the song was okay. Nothing special though, Liam just walking around like a badass and singing.

I'm liking this more and more with every listen. I love that there's an actual chorus after the "shockwave (hey)" bit, really catchy.
Well done Liam, as good as anything on AYW for me.

I am so mad because i fuckin hate this song, just can’t stand it, the intro and verses just remind me of crappy american rock i hear on perfumes ads on the tv and i also hate the chorus...
Only the part that leads to the chorus is good to me because it reminds me of come back to me which i love...
Started at 6 its now a 4 for me...

I don't mind the verses or chorus, but that lead into the chorus might as well be sand paper on bare ass to me. It's awful.

That's interesting, and very helpful actually in giving some context to the scores being given here. I've tried giving it another go...I quite like the verses, because I like the song they're taken from. Nothing wrong with that, Oasis made a career out of it. Though Oasis often improved the song they were ripping from rather than weakening it...Liam would sound monstrous on an actual BRMC track. The bridge however is incredibly irritating...I think someone compared it to millionaire, why do we suddenly go all Chipmunk? Why do they insist on putting all these effects on his voice? Destroys everything that makes him great. It's a very bizarre transition from the verse, like a different person is singing. The lyrics get wearing too after a few listens. A song that should bring me up ends up bringing me down. Once you're aware of them it's not not to just hear bitterness, which isn't really joyful. If Liam could be a bit more upbeat in his lyrics that would make a big difference.

Liam singing about the sunshine and sweet God in his soul while everywhere there is a rainbow and cute puppies - seriously? I still prefer some bitter Liam lyrics than puking rainbows in Holy Mountain (however this song is a grower, in 2017 I thought it's the worst Gallagher related song, but it's quite fun ) Let them make what they feel at the moment instead of moaning.

I wonder if the album will actually be split into bitter Why Me? songs on one side and more positive Why Not songs on the other. That would be fun.
Interesting to see what impact pre orders and video launch will have had on chart position as it seemed to be sliding out of top twenty otherwise.

I'm really enjoying Shockwave, I think it's a good choice for a lead single. I really like how the verses lead into the "all the darkness"-part and how the chorus erupts after that

It doesn't really do much for me. The verse melody is rather bland and the chorus is a bit too modern pop rock-quite like the backing vocals harmonies though. The guitar solo is okay and Liam sounds pretty good. I prefer it to Wall of Glass.

The writer must have led a pretty sheltered life, if he feels snake or weasel to be particularly vitriolic!

Shockwave finally enters at #22, out of top 20. Wall of Glass peak was #21. Great numbers!
