Shockwave enters at #9 in midweeks today Great for Liam, but I think it will be out of Top 20 at the end of the week. On Spotify charted at 87 and 139 last two days, vinyl sales were huge on Friday but i don´t think it will sell a lot during the week, so it will be very tough for him to overtake Wall of Glass (peak at #19) Yes a very good start for Liam. But he will definitely fall as his sales are slowing down across all formats. However his first day sales were big on iTunes, vinyls.

9 was jumping the shark. Maybe a 7.5 instead.

Getting some play on Radio 1 this morning. It will be very interesting to see where this charts. It would also be nice for my vinyl to arrive..

Nothing special. Quite boring IMHO. 5/10 Not attacking you but what did you rate Surprised by the Joy? Don't worry. I know very well that you just want to let other know that my opinion is worthless, but I don't care about what other people think, so... 6.5/10

I quickly got bored of As You Were. I still put it on once in a while but very very rarely. This is just more of the same and I know that's what Liam was going for so good for him. But Shockwave is kind of dull to me.
I'm also getting a bit tired of Liam's vindicative and bitter lyrics. He should get over it. He used to be a lot more positive.
Along with Black Star Dancing, it's the first time in 25 years that songs by any of the Gallaghers has done nothing for me. It's a shame.

Tbf, a lot of those positive lyrics came from Noel, Gem or Andy. Though yeah I'm hoping there's some feelgood vibes on other tracks. Not that Shockwave doesn't make me feel good! It's the best Gallagher single since 2011.

Stop being defensive for no reason. I don't even necessarily know about your favorite Gallagher tunes - I know you love Richard's solo stuff so wanted to know how both songs measured up to you.

I still can't forgive him for having put Fort Knox in the "worst" category. He is just being honest. Noel's last 2 albums are embarrassing.. Really really bad ... Noel 10 years ago would of laughed at these rubbish songs.. lazy and boring .... Black star is the worst Gallagher related single... not close That's your opinion.

How does it even work anymore? Do we find out where he charts on Friday?

Liam is the most popular he’s been since don’t believe the truth era

It´s a shame the way charts run these days, all about streaming. You need to be in some famous, very popular playlist for topping the charts. he will be top 5 only in sales for sure

The more I listen to it the more bored I am. Really catchy tune but too generic honestly. The song doesn't really go anywhere and once you heard the chorus for the first time there's nothing more to listen carefully. When it came out I gave it an 8,this weekend I thought that it was a 7 but now I'm actually thinking of a 6 / 6'5. Well produced track, great vocals but poor instrumentation (just 3 chords with distortion and that's it) and repetitive structure.

... poor instrumentation (just 3 chords with distortion and that's it) and repetitive structure. Now this couldn't be further from the truth. If you take 15 sec. snippet from the SW, sure there are 3, in fact 4 chords, but the song as a whole is really varied enough for a classic bluesy rock. Then again, if you expected a Bohemian Rhapsody from Liam then I guess you really have a point there...

Then again, if you expected a Bohemian Rhapsody from Liam then I guess you really have a point there... I was expecting something just like every other track on As You Were. And that's exactly what I got. I'm not dissapointed actually,it IS a good tune and sounds like a single to me. But as a song, don't click too much with me. Wall Of Glass had the single quality sound but also was a top tune. Easily one of the best songs on the album. With ShockWave I feel like there will be a LOT of tracks on the record that could've been the single instead. I mean,Once shouldn't be a single or at least not the first one (mainly because I think it's the album closer) but just with a preview you can tell that it's gonna be one of the best Liam compositions EVER. Shockwave? Mmmh...not at all. As I said,I'm not dissapointed at all,but the song is generic as fuck and I already got tired of it.

I’m getting a bit bored of it now but that might be because I’ve played it a lot these last few days. It’s still a good 1st single off the album though.
There’s a really annoying part of the song that really bugs me and every time I hear it I think why didn’t they re-record that. It’s the bends on the guitar solo -they seem to cut before they should do. Also, I think both Gallaghers would benefit massively from having decent guitarists.

I do find it hard to compare ratings between the fellas, because for Noel you rate against DLBIA, Live Forever, and Champagne Supernova... while for Liam you rate compared to Songbird, Wall of Glass, etc. For example, when compared to the vast data of Noel's catalog...(7.67) Shockwave / comparable to All Around the World, The Death of You and Me, Fuckin' in the Bushes, It's Gettin' Better (Man!!), If I Had a Gun... (all top 50 Noel tunes) (6.34) Rattling Rose / Comparable to She Taught Me How to Fly, Carry Us All, It's Better People, My Sister Lover, Let Forever Be (#110-114 and mostly b-sides) (5.47) Black Star Dancing / Comparable to Can Y'See It Now?, Sittin' Here in Silence (On My Own), She Is Love, Those Swollen Hand Blues, (Get Off Your) High Horse Lady (#138-142 bottom 20)
