I think this is a solid 7/10 for me. I liked Beady Eye and would give their two albums a 6/10 and a 6.5/10, so this is a step forward from already enjoyable records. I don't see the huge jump in quality some people are raving about - most of BDI's weaknesses are still very much there.
1. Wall of Glass - still sounds great, brillant guitars, good chorus, perfect single. 8/10 2. Bold - a little predictable and drags on, but catchy enough. 6/10 3. Greedy Soul - this is what I always wanted Liam solo to sound like. The intro, the guitars, the chorus, the vocals, up there with the best post 2000 Oasis stuff. 8/10 4. Paper Crown - anyone else reminded of Teenage Fanclub? Which is a great thing really. 7/10 5. FWIW - not to keen on that one. Production is very poppy, melody seems overused. 5/10 6. When I'm In Need - to me, that's what Beady Eye usually did on their better songs. Enjoyable enough without getting a big kick out of it. 6/10 7. You Better Run - love the energy, although it's clearly an inferior song to stuff like WOG. 7/10 8. I Get By - could have been on either BDI album, mediocre melodically. 6/10 9. Chinatown - this one has grown on me a lot. It stands out between the more BDI-sounding stuff and has a nice vibe to it. 8/10 10. Come Back To Me - sounds a lot like late Oasis, could have been a single, great. 8/10 11. Universal Gleam - back in solid Beady Eye territory, which isn't terrible, but it's basically a mashup of two Beady Eye album tracks. 6/10 12. I've All I Need - Nice enough although it lacks that certain surprise factor to be great imo. 7/10
Bonus tracks - It Doesn't Have to Be That Way is superb and should have been a single; really hope Liam explores that style on LG#2. The other two are throwaway songs, not bad, nothing special either.
All in all the standout tracks are better than BDI's best songs, more on the level of DBTT or DOYS Oasis which is no small feat. The Liam penned tracks are still mostly filler with one or two expections, but as a whole, the album works fantastically.

6.5/10. Good and warm classic 'rock'n'roll' (but... ballads too many ballads! - some will say) album. Nothing's new but that's what you expect from Liam - a collection of 'retro' classic songs.

Listening to the album right now, the first half is amazing, the album wins you on the first 6 songs, however the last half has its highs and lows. For me a solid 7/10.

I don't really like For What It's Worth as song but it flows really well on the album. Probably the best flowing Gallagher album from start to finish. 7/10.

This record gets better with every listen, although i still despise the production on Bold and Greedy Soul. Too cheesy. For What It's Worth sounds amazing in the flow of the record. Chinatown still shouldn't be on there. Wall of Glass is still too repetitive and still has a stupid solo repeated two times.
When i'm in Need has grown on me a lot, Wonderful tune.
Come Back To Me is a monster and Universal Gleam is Liam's soft Champagne Supernova. Great tune.
I raise my overall from 6.5 to a strong 7.

I've bumped this up to a 9. Every day I have a new song stuck in my head. There are just too many good songs on this album. I'm not bored of it at all and I play it a couple times a day.
We will see how it grows over time, but this might be be favourite Gallagher release since BHN... It's just very very strong. From Come Back to Me until Never Wanna Be Like You might be the best string of 6 songs in a row since WTSMG. Honestly. (Interestingly enough, I'm sure there are many who prefer the string of 6 in a row from Wall of Glass to When I'm in Need).

Ever since Oasis broke up in August 2009 I've longed for a proper Liam Gallagher solo album. I never liked the idea of Oasis basically carrying on without Noel but under a new moniker. I felt like that was going to do the group a huge disservice. They'd always be unfairly compared to Oasis and the shadow of "Oasis without Noel" would color too many peoples opinions before they even heard new material. I personally wasn't interested in what Liam, Andy and Gem could cook up. We already had all that with Oasis from 2000 to 2009. I'm all good on that front fellas. Having that been said, there were moments I really liked on both Different Gear Still Speeding and BE (Four Letter Word, Millionaire, The Roller, Flick of The Finger & BE bonus tunes). However, what I really wanted was a Liam Gallagher album. Under his own name and banner. I don't care if he brought in hired guns to help write songs, give production guidance or play on his tracks. For me Liam Gallagher is a singer. I don't expect him to be like Bob Dylan or Neil Young and compose all time great songs to be played continuously on the Top 40 rock stations. Give Liam a good tune and he can make it shine. Bringing in Greg Kurstin, Andrew Wyatt and Dan Grech-Marguerat was a smart play. They've given Liam the proper direction, production and song assistance he needed to to have big time success in his own name. One of the most power names and brands out there. Nobody really cared about Beady Eye despite Liam being the vocal frontman. Everyone cares about Liam Gallagher for better or for worse. He gets headlines and attentions. That only fuels to help him mold his solo career. I like the restrained sounds on this record. There is a lot of space all throughout the album and it lends Liam's voice the greatest presence as its also his best weapon. Kinda like how Morning Glory was a quieter/more direct album for Oasis, As You Were does the same for Liam. This is the best possible outcome for all us fans once Liam officially announced going solo and I look forward to hearing more of his records in the future as I'm sure his fires are now restoked with musical passion. Game on Liam. Game on. Wall of Glass - Cock of the walk this tune!!! One of the better post Oasis songs from either Gallagher. Of all the songs we heard prior to the album being released this was always the strongest one and the one I played the most. Cant wait to hear it live. Liam and his people really did a tremendous job selecting this song as the flag-bearer. Bold - The famous pub video has been around for a couple of years now. I think I only watched it once or twice. I hate watching those types of things, so hard to judge and then you make false assumptions. A nasty business all around. The studio version obviously sounds leaps and bounds better. I wish Liam had a song like this around the time of Heathen Chemistry or Don’t Believe The Truth to help round out those very uneven Oasis album that were plaguing the band. Good guitar work and outro chant by Liam to end this baby. A more developed attempt at a “Boy With The Blues” type anthem. Greedy Soul - Very punchy, dark and sinister. This is a better version of a song like “Soul Love”. Like others have previously stated, Beady Eye needed more songs like this. Glad Liam found it for his solo debut. I love the 1-2-3 assault of “Wall of Glass”, “Bold” and “Greedy Soul”. Strong footing to begin his solo career. Paper Crown - This one had a lot of positive reviews based on Liam’s summer touring. I’m not sure it is a future single like others have mentioned. It sounds like what songs like “Kill For A Dream” and “The Beat Goes On” failed at being………a power ballad. For What It’s Worth - The pre-release hype of this song probably had gotten to me despite trying to avoid it. Between the Chris Moyles comments and Liam not playing it live initially made many of us here think it was a huge mega hit single in waiting which was totally unfair to do. I still prefer “Wall of Glass” over this a thousand times over. This song remind me of “Stop Crying Your Heart Out”. It feels like it should be a huge hit for the ages just like SCYHO but something is missing for me and I’m not sure what it is. Too simple and soft? Maybe? For the casual rock listeners I can see people digging it. Its the classic Liam people expect to find. I’d love the strings to be even louder. Just a tad higher in the mix because I like that element of the song but I guess its not a bad thing to lead with Liam’s vocals. When I’m In Need - Oh man what a colossal outro. Liam nailed it here. So many times post 2000 Oasis had a hard time tying songs like this together for a nice ending. I hope I get to hear this one live in November. You Better Run - Has a lot of swagger to it. It makes you shake your hips. Reminds me of Noel’s “The Mexican”. Not a great tune but its got some cockiness to it probably due to that strong brass section. Curious to hear it live as it should get the crowd moving. I Get By - Much like the track that proceeds it, this one is fast/driving/rocky. Its like it was designed to get people to jump up and down in a live setting. I wonder if it should have been broken up more on the album instead of following “You Better Run”. I love the guitar pedal/amp fade out. Reminds of something from “It’s Good To Be Free” or the Be Here Now days. Chinatown - Sure some of the lyrics make you want to cringe, I get all that, we all crushed Liam over it but it turns out he didn’t even write it!!! Joke is on us. For me the sound and production is what really stands out. It sounds very very different from Oasis and Beady Eye without trying too hard to be that way. Fantastic simple guitar plucking and I absolutely love that swirling keyboard. I only wish it wasn’t buried so much in the mix. Turn them up William!!!!! Come Back To Me - The first thing I think of when hearing this song is The Rolling Stones from the album Beggars Banquet. Very bluesy in parts. Good guitar solo. Another strong outro to end the song. Shades of the Stones’ “We Love You” piano riff. Again I wish this was even louder and longer. Small gripes though. I can totally see this one being a future single. Universal Gleam - A Liam song title that seems like its been floating around for decades. Big fan of the dreamy guitar strumming. I think others have mentioned a feeling of Blur’s “Tender” throughout this song and I totally agree. That is one of my favorite Blur songs and Liam takes those ideas and makes them his own on this song. Liam doing gospel rock baby! I’ve All I Need - I love the way Liam sounds on this track. To me it is one of his most modern sounding songs. Really cool guitar work that reminds of me early 2000s Coldplay and even U2. Liam should be proud of this one. Doesn’t Have To Be This Way - Really really really feeling this one!!! It has a strong Tame Impala vibe and I’m totally on board for that. Think somewhere between their debut album and Lonerism. Could have and probably should have been on the proper album. It will always be in my Liam rotation mix forever. I wish Oasis took a turn like this around the time of Heathen Chemistry. Especially after Liam’s work with Death In Vegas. This was a great way to utilize Liam’s talents. I sure hope Liam plays this live on the winter tour. Crossing my fingers. All My People/All Mankind - “Selfies…….what a fucking disease……..”. Brilliant line! I Never Wanna Be Like You - The cool thing about the three bonus tracks is that all of them could easily be substituted into the proper album. Nothing really sticks out as a clunker or misstep. Love these driving acoustic strums. Production is rock solid. A simple yet interesting song.

I honestly couldn't get into Beady Eye at all no matter how much I tried. But I really like this album Liam's voice sounds a lot better than it has over the last 10ish years. I'm digging it.

It's a fucking great album, I'm tired of the songs we had prerelease i.e WoG, GS, FWIW and Chinatown but the album is great and I'm just jaded towards/by those songs. (I don't have an english degree.)

Having had a good couple of weeks to fully digest it I think I'm going to plump for a 7/10 rating. Thoughts on individual songs below:
1. Wall of Glass - great first single and album opener. Instant, catchy, modern and cool. A bit repetitive but overall it really did the job of getting Liam back into the game. 8.5/10
2. Bold - Lovely melody and well polished off. One of Liam's strongest songwriting efforts. 8/10
3. Greedy Soul - Absolutely gutted about what they did to this song in the studio. Live it's an aggressive, filthy, punk rock number but this polished version is lifeless. Live it's 8.50/10, unfortunately I'm reviewing the album version which I have at 6/10.
4. Paper Crown - Nice tune! It reminds me a bit of those b-sides from BE, albeit slightly improved. Classy, understated vocal from Liam. 7/10
5. For What It's Worth - I'll admit that it's won me over somewhat. It really is a great example of pop music songwriting but I can't help but think it's still a bit too clean for Liam Gallagher. 7.5/10
6. When I'm In Need - Beady Eye make an extremely unwelcome return. Uninspired. 3.5/10
7. You Better Run.... - A grower! Initially I had worries that we had a Meaning of Soul/Ain't Got Nothin'/Standing on the edge of the noise/Face the Crowd shaped addition to Liam's collection of stinkers, but thankfully it's better than those. Not great but fun enough in the context of the album. 6.5/10
8. I Get By - I'm a big fan of this one. I thought the initial slating on here was unfair but it seems quite a few people have come round to it now. Should've been the 2nd song on the album IMO. 7.5/10
9. Chinatown - Still don't rate it. Yes it's a bit different but I can't shake the feeling that if it hadn't been released as a single as sorts, it would have been forgotten about pretty quickly. The vastly superior All My People/All Mankind should have been on the album in its place. 5/10
10. Come Back To Me - A definite 90s revival going on here, something which I'm all for. Another great vocal from Liam and a proper solo was very welcome. 7/10
11. Universal Gleam - Tender's younger, less impressive brother. 4/10
12. I've All I Need - A really strong end to the album. Nice intro (reminds of a recent Foo Fighters single which I can't remember the name of) and lovely, Oasis-esque little solo midway through to lift the song up a notch. I believe this is a 100% solo Liam effort, nice work. 7.5/10
Bonus tracks - All of them have their merits. Doesn't have to be that Way is a great attempt at the Tame Impala sound, the repeated melody gets a bit tiresome but I enjoy it above some of the weaker tracks on the album proper. All Me People/All Mankind has really grown on me, initially I thought it was a bit of a Beady Eye cast off but it's actually quite a strong song, as mentioned before it should have been on the album instead of Chinatown for me. I Never Wanna Be Like You is reasonably good melody-wise but the lyrics veer dangerously into Little James and Don't Brother Me territory.
All-in-all it's an album which I really didn't think Liam was capable of releasing minus Noel. A great decision overall to get some assistance in with the creation and songwriting, even if the balls-up of Greedy Soul is bordering on unforgivable. We already know from the sales that this album has given him a real basis to forge a strong solo career and I'm glad of that. The current outlook of both Gallaghers releasing solo material is as good as it's going to get now that Oasis are a distant memory. It's like Beady Eye never happened.........

Not more than 6/10 after first listen. Paper Crown and For What It’s Worth one after the other is too much for me. Lame as fuck. It seems that Wall Of Glass is the best song there and most of us wasn't even satisfed with that song after first few listens because we expected chorus after listening those previews. But yeah, it is really good song with all its faults but it seems that everything went downhill from there. Come Back To Me is the only one that sounds interesting to me after first listen from the songs that I haven't heard in studio version (all songs except singles). And singles after WOG are meh. I like Greedy Soul live version and I said before that is on the edge to be just another Beady Eye's rocker but that song just works, it has something extra quality, x factor. But with this studio version, I'm not sury anymore. Just an honest opinion, I'm sorry if anyone is offended by it. That's just what I feel. Oh, you idiot. Fuck off! 8/10 for me. GROWER!

I rate it with an 7.5 at the moment which makes it second on my post - Oasis list: NGHFB > AYW > BE > CY > DGSS
Wall of Glass I liked it when it was released and I still do. Is not the best from the album but I get why it was released as a first single.
Bold When the clip of Liam singing it at the pub was leaked it sounded like Beady Eye, but I love it now, it has an unique vibe. I wouldn't even know how to describe it, it's a slow one but doesn’t sound like a balad. It's dark, in the same way as Soul Love, but a lot better.
Greedy Soul Wow. I don’t know how this one gets rated so low sometimes, for me is one of the best of the album. Good vocals, catchy melody, good chorus… love it from start to finish. This is what Beady Eye wanted to sound like.
Paper Crown It might be the best one of the album for me. The vocals are amazing, really good lyrics, cool vibe… the first time I heard it I loved it instantly and felt really connected to it. The stripped down first part makes Liam's voice shine, but I also like the part with the distorted voice a lot. I hope it gets released as the last single from the album.
For What It's Worth Good song, but I think Paper Crown should've been released as the “slow one” single. I like it a lot, but it lacks something, sounds too manufactured. But it's catchy and one of the songs I listen the most from AYW, I really like the part of “The first bird to fly gets all the arrows..”. I think it's in a bad spot in the album, though, too similar in style with Paper Crown.
When I'm In Need I like how it starts but then it turns into the weakest song of the album for me. Has good moments but... meh.
You Better Run This is the one that surprised me the most, the vocals are spot on and the lyrics are cool. People slagged it off on reviews but is one of the best for me. I’m not a fan of repetitive outros but this one works really well.
I Get By The intro is promising, but then it fails in my opinion. Sounds a lot like Beady Eye and one part of it sounds like Green Day or something like that. B-side material.
Chinatown I know about 90% of this forum hate this song, but is one of the best for me. A haunting song with a charming vibe. Of course the lyrics are child like but I can’t help but loving it. I never though I'd heard Liam singing something like this, it almost sounds like Grizzly Bear.
Come Back To Me People love it and I get why, but is a bit dull for me. Also the guitar fills doesn't sound right, they lack melody. I like it but I expected more reading people reviews. It'll probably grow on me, though.
Universal Gleam Good song. Tender + Real Love. I like the way Liam sings in this one and I think it should be the last track on the album.
I've All I Need I still don’t know what to think about this one. I like it but I feel the album really ends with Universal Gleam. Don’t like the chorus but the ending is really good.
Doesn't Have To Be That Way What a surprise. I get why it isn't on the album (it doesn't really fit there) but I love it, I hope his second album sounds more like this one. I get the feeling this is actually a remix and that a more conventional version of this song exists somewhere.
All My People / All Mankind I doubt I'll listen to this one a lot. Very very weak.
I Never Wanna Be Like You Not a great song but good enough. Cool outro.

so i gave the album antother spin, since it's been out now for over six weeksm i thought it would only be fair: wall of glass: still absolutely mediocre song. at least not as boring as most of the songs that follow. 6/10bold: the epitome of boring. 5/10greedy soul: it's like bold, pt. 2. 5/10paper crown: it actually has a melody and 2/3 is pretty enjoyable, but that middle 8 (or whatever you wanna call it) starting at around 2:15 is hideous. 6.75/10for what it's worth: again, the start/the verses are pretty good and i also like the bass line, but fuck me, the chorus is so bloody cringeworthy, i can't find words to describe my disgust. what was he thinking? good god... 5/10when i'm in need: another liam-generic. it doesn't give me anything still. never will i guess. 5/10you better run: another song that i feel i will never again listen to. you know that urge when you think 'oh, i wanna listen to THAT song. NOW.'. will never happen for this one. 5/10i get by: another song that i feel i will never again listen to. you know that urge when you think 'oh, i wanna listen to THAT song. NOW.'. will never happen for this one. 5/10chinatown: for me, it's somehow paper crown 2. it doesn't have that part where you think, 'fuck me, that's bad', but the lyrics bring the whole song down a bit. 6.5/10come back to me: one if the songs i can enjoy. it's not a masterpiece, but it has a melody. 7/10 universal gleam: welcome to bold, pt 3. it reminds me in parts of a primal scream song. 5/10i've all i need: best song on the album. and it's not even close. lately, i've been listening to it quite a lot. the chorus melody is awesome. love it. 8.75/10it doesn't have to be that way: 2nd best song. it's been stuck in my head for a while. i found myself singing 'it doesn't have to be that wayyyyy" for no reason, because it's infectious. 8.5/10all my people:bold, pt 4.hm... 5/10i never wann be like you: 'come on, come on, who are you? no one, no one, ain't that true?' fucking hell, the cringe is strong in this one. 4/10verdict: sorry, guys, it's just not a good album. for most of the parts, it's plain boring, for some it's cringeworthy. it has its moments, that can be enjoyed. they are rare, though.
