It's amazing how useless immediate music reviews are, especially when compared to movie reviews, which are usually fairly accurate. Reviewers are driven by narrative, both positive ("Great older artist thought dead making a comeback!" or "Radiohead making an album using the intestines of yaks instead of guitars-cool!") and negative ("yet another Oasis album-aren't these guys gonna quit?") in making flash judgments.
It takes more than a listen or two to know how good an album is-it takes time and repeated listens to suss out greatness. I can't think of an album that I made up my mind about immediately. Even the greatness of Morning Glory grew on me fairly gradually (2-3 weeks).

Is 3/5 stars positive? I would be dissapointed with 3/5 stars. DGSS got 4/5 is Mojo.

Yeah I'm happy with that.
To me.. I hate to use the word but seems to me he doesn't like the production. Maybe I'm wrong

That's the problem with reviews of that length. 3 out of 5 suggests he likes more than two songs but there's not the room to tell you just as there's not the room for him to expand on what it is exactly he doesn't like.

One of my friends friends :/ is a good friend of Pat Gilbert and he didn't like Oasis at all. I'm not saying that would change his opinion of BE but 3/5 from is positive review

3/5 is about a 7-7.5/10 isn't it? I'll take that.

"Noel-baiting, Beatlesy high-point Don't Brother Me might have been the perfect Beady Eye song if not, well, so evidently Noel-baiting."
Can anybody interpret this for me? I'm dumb and not good at double-triple-or-quadruple meanings, like. Is "the critic" saying-- the song is too much of a personal slagging off of Noel? or rather too much pilfering from Noel's songbook? Or how he mentioned "Noel-baiting" twice in that sentence, perhaps to offset the modifier "Noel-baiting" with the qualifier "Noel-baiting" (at the tail end of the sentence); thereby nullifying himself as only a critical adjunct (?) rather than conveying any discernible critical judgment.
Nevermind...most music critics are inarticulate anyway.

3/5 is about a 7-7.5/10 isn't it? I'll take that. Erm, no. 3/5=6/10. Not a 7 or a 7.5 that would be between 3.5/5 and 4/5, 4/5 being an 8/10.

Yeah I'm happy with that. To me.. I hate to use the word but seems to me he doesn't like the production. Maybe I'm wrong Well the tag line of the review is something about them getting an ill-fitting electronic makeover by Dave Sitek. Sounds like he doesn't think the production fits all the songs.
