Ahh, those guys! I loved their reactions to Oasis, they kinda blew up for other reactions but Oasis was one of their earlier content. It’s just opinions, nothing to take seriously

It’s just opinions, nothing to take seriously Yeah, they are harsh in their critiques, but also fairly nuanced and charitable to the Gallaghers. They have admitted to loving both Gallagher's work, which is why they spend the time they do. But this one on Council Skies is a little over the top imo.

Tbf on first listen I was kind of similar as he had lost me a bit with his recent releases but then grew to really like the melodies on the record the more I listened to it. Some really nice touches on there, obviously the going back to his Manchester roots was bollocks as it makes much more sense in the context of his divorce. Those two are decent guys from what I've seen before of their reaction videos.

I stopped watching after their comment on Dead To The World... they seem to miss Oasis more than wanting to listen to Noel's records as Noel's records, which is fine. But if you can fit a comment about how much Liam rocks and Noel doesn't after Dead To The World, especially when you've done that comment twice when you're 3 songs in, you're not listening to Noel's records for the right reason. After 12 years of him being a solo artist, I'm surprised that kind of comments still exists. No hate to them but I feel their comments are just irrelevant.

Don't understand why they have to compare this album with Liam or Oasis or even with other Noel albums. If you're a fan of music just listen to any album on its own terms. Is it good music to your ears or not. That's it. Nothing else need come into it. All this other stuff they're going on about is irrelevant.

I have always been about as split on both sides as you could be as a fan of Oasis. But strangely i was fighting Liam's corner more with Beady Eye and Noel's more now with casual fans. Mainly because both criticisms (Liam being the untalented lout back then and Noel being boring and needing to rock now) are just so untrue and lazy assessments. The whole comparing music to something else is absurd when you think about it. I've seen countless Oasis comparisons to Blur last weekend just because Blur played a gig. What does that have to do with anyone else but Blur? Imagine going in an art gallery and saying everything is shit because it isn't as good as the Mona Lisa.

There was a comment on I'm not giving up tonight that sees the song as a bridge to WBTM and would've love to hear it beforehand that album. That was nice.
After they compared the brothers voices, fair enough. Then they were not interested in Dead To The world and I just was shocked. Oh well it's their opinion.

Two insanely uninteresting people who probably get confused with push / pull door handles ...giving an opinion ...let's hope they make more content. Next up they react to Blur being better than that new fangled techno Witchcraft Gorillaz.

Thread should be retitled: Two Idiots From America React to…
We’re not all like that here. Noel has a die-hard fan base here, it’s just not as prominent as it is elsewhere around the world.

For those looking for a positive video with these two, their reaction to Dead in the Water was fantastic. You could tell they were really moved by the performance before they ever even opened their mouths to comment on it.

We Oasis fans are no exception. Well in my case, I wasn't being salty and am far from a worshiper. I don't mind them at all. I'm just saying their opinion on Noel's record is irrelevant, to me anyway, because they're not judging it from the right perspective. Other than a lot of his "Cosmic Pop" stuff, nothing is more far off to Oasis or Liam's music than Dead To The World. To use garylineker's analogy, say you're in a museum looking at paintings from Picasso's blue period. If your response is "Well it kind of looks good but there's not enough colours like he used to do when he was younger", you either don't understand what those paintings are or you prefer Picasso's earlier work which this has nothing to do with. So in the same way, if I'm with you and I came to that same museum specifically to look at his blue period paintings, I'm going to tell you that those have nothing to do with his previous work or with his rose period. It doesn't mean I'm defending Picasso's work as it doesn't need defending and neither does Noel. But, like with everything else, you need to judge a thing as it's supposed to be and not what you wish it was or what it was before.

But, like with everything else, you need to judge a thing as it's supposed to be and not what you wish it was or what it was before. Often times artists don't get to define their work for the world. How they'd like you to understand a piece of their art isn't necessarily the lens by which the world will judge. It's the people that define it and make it what it is. That's the subjective nature of art. I understand that can be frustrating, both for the artist and for the people who believe their perspective is the correct perspective, but that's the beauty of art. It takes on a life of its own.
People draw comparisons to previous works because often times that's all they can do. 'Here ___ is where I think they've done their best and this is how their new work measures up to that masterpiece'. I don't think there is a single member of this forum who hasn't engaged in that behavior before. But also, when it comes to a timeline of art periods, it's incorrect to suggest that one period has nothing to do with the other. Referencing the period's of Picasso for example, that's directly correlated to his mental health state. But also, skill. What came before will inform what comes after. That's the nature of acquiring knowledge. Like it or not, artist careers are often like waves, hitting high peaks and low troughs. If Noel's music career were a consistent flat wave, it would be a rather boring sound. The basis of comparison from one work to the next is important and helps people define his contributions.

Yeah I get what you mean. I don't think CS is Noel's best work. It's actually my least favourite record of his. But to me, Oasis is a whole different body of work than Noel or Liam's records and of course Liam and Noel are in two different artistic paths (or musical paths since Liam doesn't like being called an 'artist' ). So when I say that about CS, it's in comparison to everything Noel did after Oasis. That's how I see it personally.

It leaves a lasting mark on his sound. But now he's free from it and able to experiment. It's how we get masterpieces like Dead in the Water.
Bringing it back to the reactors, I liked some of their thoughts and felt annoyed by many of their other opinions. I don't get at all how they can't appreciate Dead to the World. From my perspective it's one of the best songs he's ever done.
