Greetings-great forum.Got some thoughts on Noel considering recent events...
It seem's Noel isn't in any hurry to clarify his comments regarding the recent shitstorm he created. After weeks lying low his first public appearance was at a Manchester primary school meeting kid's and staff which struck me as the kind of cheesy PR stunt he would castigate others for.Up untill now Noel's has had pretty much carte blanche to say what he likes as it's usually on the money, tounge in cheek and he's now well established as a national treasure.I'm wondering if for the first time "The Chief's" gargantuan self confidence has taken a dent. Will he emerge somewhat neutered from the experience?
Most celebs would have offered an immediate apology, such as Liam did after he threatened to kill an Athletico Madid player on twitter during a City game, but obviously NG has decided to ride out the storm and let someone else be the new target for the media.Interestingly in the last few day's Beyonce and Lizzo-usually given nothing less than gushing media coverage-have had to eat crow and issue apologies for using the word "spazz" in songs. In any case it's clear Noel will have to adress this when he does his next round of promotional interviews as he's not gonna be able to just style it out.
Though a fan of his comments(usually) and his music NG has shown a disturbing propensity for hanging out with annoying celebs such as Bono,Brand,Moss,Ora,Stella McCartney,Delivingne etc. It's likely the only "working class" people he has contact with are ones who've become multi-millionaires like himself. That selfie of c#ntishness from Glastonbury is a case in point. He goes to Glastonbury and the only thing he watches is Jamie T(a public schoolboy acting like he's from the streets. And who's music's shite into the bargain) and a clapped out McCartney who should never be allowed to headline a major festival with his voice in that condition.Noel also praised this once august festival, which is now got more in common with Capital Radios's Big Day Out.
In conclusion it might be over for Noel as a man of the people philosopher-at a time when he's needed more than ever.

Noel seemed to lose his wit and became a bit pretentious around his last album cycle. A bit of a defence mechanism when it turned out the album wasn't well-liked. It's been done to death a bit on here, but welcome to the forum.

Generally agree with the post, Noel's tongue is so far up the Tory celeb set arse it's unreal. Partying with that Russian crook Lebedev too. You lie down with dogs, you get fleas. Any damage to his reputations is entirely his fault. But the highlight in bold is plain wrong - that was the best Glastonbury headline ever, yes even with his voice now.

Hi Quantum I'm sure I can muster up the ocassional rant here and there...when I've had my wetabix!
My reassessment of Noel would also cover his position as a songwriter. It's hardly breaking news(and most dont care) that Noel steals bits from other peoples songs but the sheer scale of the theft must be taken into account.I'm usually quite good at spotting when someone's "borrowing" but with Noel it seem's you discover a new example of this every week.Recently he himself revealed he used "Fuzzy" by Grant Lee Buffalo as the inspiration for Some Might Say-though if he hadn't mentioned it you probably wouldn't twig on to it.
I've always thought the number of banging tunes he's written puts Noel near,if not on,the level of Lennon,McCartney and Dylan-and unlike most of their music his actually rocks. It seem's he begins's every writing session with a bunch of riffs and melodies from existing songs and combines them with things his Mum/Liam/Mellisa Lim said to him and cobbles together a song out of it.Or to be more accurate turns this into a near classic.
As Bonehead used to say-if it's that easy you try it.

Heâs a multi millionaire and has been for nearly 30 years. Itâs inevitable he will come into contact with other celebrities and mix in them circles. What do you want him to do walk around burnage all day? His comments about disabled people upset quite a few people on here but in reality his comments barely caused any controversy. It didnât make any news channel etc so I wouldnât be expecting an apology. Lets not forget liam lied about grabbing debbie and it was front page news and he didnât apologise and it just went away.
Just enjoy the music. Times have changed. Itâs not 1995 and the Gallaghers front page news every day. They are middle age men who many young people are not interested in now

I'm not suggesting that Noel goes round Digsy's every weekend for Lasagne-but why do the celebs he hangs with have to be the annoying ones?
Your memory of how that situation with Liam played out is flawed.Liam did issue a statement saying it was blown out of all proportion and apologised to Debbie, her parents, his own mother and his kids.As Debbie went along with his version there was no story here anymore.Of course as she was in the unusual position of also being being his manager it was hardly in her interest's to derail his lucrative solo career.Liam 2.0 is all about presenting himself as a cuddly elder statesman and playing down his(thoroughly deserved)reputation for thuggery.
I'm not asking Noel to come out and apologise if he doesn't feel he has to-merely adress the comments.I didn't have him down as the kind of person to run and hide at the first negative press reaction he's had in years. He's never been the type not to offer his opinion when a microphones's pointed in his general directin after all.

Not lying low? There hasnt been a peep outta Noel since Glastonbury-normally he's being quoted in press on an almost daily basis.

Why bring this up again? There is a topic in another thread about this. Noels not laying low he doesn't care it was a joke. It was a prickly joke. As someone else said, Noel's lost his wit and is just acting like a fucking asshole now. He was always edgy in his humour and everyone, in his fanbase at least, loved it. But he lost that touch. If he didn't take someone else's place or block their view on the disabled people's platform, that might pass. Joking about tipping one over is dancing on the line of acceptable (it's still not funny). But going up to them, touching their forehead and saying âRise, you can walkâ? That's just being a fucking dick. The OP talks about a re-assessment of Noel. That's part of it. It's not like he's talking about the AIDS comment that's 1038832 years old. This is last month. You might prefer the story to die because you think it's no big deal. But other users have the right to bring it up again in every fucking post going forward and if it's relevant, that's what we'll do.

Noel just acts like a spoilt brat these days. And, most of his comments I never find funny, he's just changed far too much for me.

The first rule of crisis PR is go away and come back again. Repeat as necessary. Done every day of the week in Hollywood, but thatâs not to say that going away doesnât have a cost, especially when youâve left a bad taste for a lot of people (and I don't mean fans so much.)

Think that PR model has become outdated in the age of cancel culture. These days you put out an imediate statement, followed by numerous grovelling apologies...And you still end up losing your career. Also wouldn't be surprised if Noel is somewhat pissed off with these media outlets he helped fill space for for so many years that he's decided not to give them anymore free copy.Sayin to them sod you-try getting some entetaining quotes from George Ezra or Sheeran.

Nah, Noel is in no danger of losing his career. And if he apologizes, he doesnât have to grovel. Just say âI never meant for my silly hijinx to feel damaging to anyone and I regret that part.â End of. No one will care among his loyal fans except that he stops looking like an out-of-touch ass to everyone else. There is only a PR crisis because he left it hanging.
But none of this is about cancellation. People who have truly been âcancelled,â as in lost or severely harmed their careers, almost uniformly committed crimes, or were credibly accused by multiple people of sexual, racial or other types of harassment. Now itâs just become a thing people say that has no meaning. Bill Cosby, Kevin Spacey and R. Kelley were cancelled. Their careers are over forever. Taylor Swift was not even if some people were mean to her on the internet for a day.
As for the tabloids, they have no trouble finding (or making up) subject matter. The Scum today made a whole big story out of Erling Haaland's minor sunburn lines!

half of the shit that came out of this man's mouth in the 90's would have had him absolutely canceled today, so he's used to saying whatever he wants without apologizing (or at least exceptionally rarely) for PR. i wouldn't expect much of that to change.
but i will say i think we're *supposed* to grow up and become less mean as we get older - at least, i feel that's part of the point of the life of anyone who embodied that kind of demeanor in their younger years. i feel like noel has kind of done the opposite. he makes jabs at his fans now too. i don't resonate much with him anymore.

Well between the breakup of Oasis and 2017, he was actually lovely, funny and still a little cocky in interviews. Off the top of my head, the interviews with Gay Byrnes, Graham Norton, Mark Lawson, Alan Carr or the Huffington Post were all really enjoyable. The last interviews I saw where he like that were in late 2017. Then he was mostly an arrogant prick, except maybe Skavlan, the Morning Glory fan questions and Reel Stories. So I don't know what got into him and I hope it's a phase. Because he gets on my nerves now for the first time in 30 years.
