Agreed, fellow compatriot. I think our semifinal is a sort of final, it will be an amazingly tough game and Spain is a very good team. Plus, Italy face Spain for the fourth time in a row at the European Cup, endless challenge (if we consider the FIFA Confederations Cup 2013 semifinal and all the clashes and finals between the Under-21 teams in the last few years too, the number of matches between the two sides becomes ridiculously high). Anyway, siamo fortissimi and our midfield is world class! Come on Italy! Your semi-final is a sort of final? Tut tut - Is that right… I don't know how to say it in English, in Italy we say "finale anticipata " (Final in advance) when two big teams clash ahead of the final of a competition.

This is the easiest chance England have had to win a tournament in decades. It's on a plate. Only ONE away game all tournament. Surely it's a done deal? They can't blow it now. Team is calm and has cruised through all the games (aside from Scotland). It's coming...

In English, we call it "counting your chickens before they've hatched" . You didn't understand. I meant it is felt like a final, hence "final in advance". It's a sort of metaphor.

I bet it must be sooo tiresome hearing non-English people whining endlessly about England.
But seriously - for a tournament with no hosting nation, it's pretty fucking weird how one team gets to play 6/7 games at home. Somewhat questionable, I think.

I think the fact they are playing the semifinals and the final at Wembley is highly questionable. I think all the three decisive matches in London is too much. They should have changed the venues of the semifinals.

Would have resulted in reduced travelling in a world with climate change and a pandemic, no fucking LGBTQ flags being ripped from supporters, and most importantly, I wouldn't be able to complain about the home game advantage.

I think the World Cup in Qatar was supposed to be in England. Now we get a Christmas World Cup instead. At least the euros 2024 are in Germany

Yeah I don't like the way they've set this tournament up. Some nations have travelled far more than others. I didn't liked the idea of the tournament taking place in various countries anyway.
I'm excited for Wednesday though. It feels like Euro 96 all over again. The atmosphere at Wembley should be great.

Give us a break FIFA and UEFA won't give us shit, so this is basically our time to host.

But you're not getting any tournaments now for another 25 years With that said I do want another World Cup in England relatively soon, let's keep countries like Saudis Arabia and China out of it for as long as possible.

I think there is truth to that, could be another 25 years! Apparently our next chance is 2030 for the World Cup but I can't see it.

Maybe not since 2026 will be predominantly in English speaking countries(USA, Canada, plus Mexico), and they always tend to place it in a different culture/continent compared to the previous tournament. 2030 morally SHOULD be in Uruguay though, since it's the 100 year anniversary of the first World Cup. They have a joint bid with Argentina apparently.

You must be young with that sort of optimism Nah, I'm older than I wish to be I'm impartial as I'm not English/Italian/Spanish. It all comes down to the final, as Denmark won't pose much of a threat. So will a rampant Italy/Spain turn up or will England make it all look so easy?

Denmark have played some really good football and should not be discounted. While some silly England fans have been doing exactly that, luckily, I don't think the manager or the team are.

Well, the last time we hosted a great tournament in Italy was in 1990, so do not complain if you have to wait for another 25 years. 😂 Even though your stadiums are miles better.

EURO 1996… hosted by England. 🏴
This was the very first international tournament I followed (aged eight), with the Semi-Final between England and Germany one of the first matches I vividly remember watching. Absorbing match, to a successful and engaging Euros.
Germany won that Semi-Final, with the match decided on penalty kicks after finishing 1-1. Gareth Southgate, a defender for England, missed the consequential penalty, knocking the host nation out in the process.
At EURO 2020, England are on the eve of their first Semi-Final (vs. Denmark) at a major international tournament since Euro ‘96. And 25 years later, Gareth Southgate, now the manager of England, has already knocked out Germany in this year’s Euros in the Last 16 and looks for further vengeance as he ultimately seeks to brings it home.
Go on Gareth, my son.
