That was the least energy, drive, passion and commitment that I've ever seen from a German team. Enjoyed every minute

This is the easiest chance England have had to win a tournament in decades. It's on a plate. Only ONE away game all tournament.
Surely it's a done deal?

This EURO is full of surprise. Congrats England. Im just glad that löw is gone now. The last three years have been a waste of everybody’s time. No development, no philosophy and no harmony on the pitch despite having an incredible talented team. We can exchange Frank de Boer and löw We could change exchange our weed laws but that’s it

Yeah. He just missed the right point to leave but he brought us a World Cup and the immortal 7-1 against Brazil. He has his place in our history Genuine question, why was he not let go after 2018? But speaking only of this tournament, it felt so deeply wrong the way he took back those two players he basically threw out before, and still stayed on as coach. It was right to take them back (well at least Müller), but that was him admitting the intial decision was moronic, and then I can't see how the players have enough respect left for him at that point. It's a situation the DFB really should have avoided. There was no one powerful enough to fire him. He took some time off and decided he was going to continue and that’s it. Our president in 2018 resigned shortly after and our current president is a lame duck already and about to get fired too. We have huge structural problems in our football association since it came out that we bought the wc in 2006. So there was no way we could have avoided this situation. Löw did whatever the fuck he wanted, which led us to embarrass ourselves in the nations league, we lost 6-0 against Spain last year and now the earliest exit from the euros since 2004. it’s all a matter of missing Leadership from the top. This tournament was so predictable, instead of at least trying to get out with a bang, Löw went back to his old style of football with a lot of possession instead of playing to the teams strength what would be more of a Liverpool/Klopp kinda Football. But that’s impossible when you build your team around Kroos, Hummels and Müller. There is so much more to say about Germany football but that could potentially fill a book.

sad to see it end like that, he did wonders for Germany from 06-14 Yeah. He just missed the right point to leave but he brought us a World Cup and the immortal 7-1 against Brazil. He has his place in our history Whats the current mood on him and Thomas Muller at the moment? Both done so much for Germany but is anyone hating on them similarly to what Wenger got on his way out?

Expectations were low before the tournament so the disappointment is not as big as in 2018. Also we are in an election year so we got other things to talk about

What a game that was, gutted for Spinazolla - he’s been the best player in the tournament for me so far.

The fact that a country like Italy(who should be in no shortage of good players of their own) start this game with three Brazilians on the pitch is truly embarrassing. Great performance by Italy, but... Edit: Only one started this time, but my point still stands. It's a huge pet peeve of mine. These guys didn't come to Italy as children or as refugees, that would change it all for me. They came as adults to play football, and they chose to play for Italy since Brazil didn't want them. Kind of defeats the purpose of having a national team if you include guys who didn't grow up in the country. I understand it more with cases of smaller teams and where there is some relative connection, but not with this case.

You know Lukaku is a good player when my eighty-six-year-old nan is calling me after the game to talk about how tight his control is despite his size and being marked out of the game as much as possible. Quality striker.

Italy looks fantastic. This could be the template for modern possession football. It’s like if guardiolas and klopps philsophy had a baby

Is it...is it actually coming home? I don't want to rain on anyones parade but the english had it way easier than the other half of the knockouts. It was also that way until the World Cup Semifinals. But this is the strongest English side since 2002, so who knows?

But this is the strongest English side since 2002, so who knows? Aye, easier, but still - beating Germany like that was good and we still haven't even conceded a goal. I'm far too English to actually think we're going to win outside of some drunken chants, but this team does look really good at the moment. Control games and don't give away too many big chances, and an absolute wealth of attacking options. The fact that Grealish and Foden didn't even come on tonight is a madness. There is a part of me that is starting to believe... (And now we lose to Denmark on penalties, of course).

We got the easier half of the knockouts due to winning the group. And the two other teams that qualified from our group, one knocked out Netherlands and the other took Spain to extra time.
I think the last two games we've been excellent. I had my doubts about Southgate but he's managed this tournament brilliantly.

For those not from England: Southgate took a bit of a battering for his early tournament selections.
His critics have really quietened it down now.
Denmark is a tough game but I think we’ll benefit from the fact we’ve played a few teams with a similar playing style lately.

I can’t see England beating either Spain or Italy but I also can’t see Italy or Spain beating England in Wembley so I guess Denmark will win it all.

Plus, Italy face Spain for the fourth time in a row at the European Cup, endless challenge (if we consider the FIFA Confederations Cup 2013 semifinal and all the clashes and finals between the Under-21 teams in the last few years too, the number of matches between the two sides becomes ridiculously high). Anyway, siamo fortissimi and our midfield is world class! Come on Italy!
