Band didn't want to broadcast new songs at that time, and BBC switched to 1st night audio after DLBIA. so It's not big surprise to me.

Just watched the film for the first time after getting the Blu-Ray for Christmas, great stuff. The shots of the fans are incredible to see. Such a better crowd and mix of people than the testosterone football hooligan crowd usually spawning for a fight that you'd find at their gigs in later years.
Surprised by Noel's comments saying the band was the tightest it had ever been etc. When you consider he said for years how much better they sounded with Gem and Andy. I guess maybe he means the tightest they were DURING the Bonehead & Guigs years.

So who wants to fix Supersonic by replacing the shots where Alan White is painted out?

I finally started to read the Knebworth book yesterday and I'm loving it. It's worth to have it. Only if the book would have been slightly lighter...

Yeah I hate hardback heavy books they’re so uncomfortable to read. Which always makes me end up waiting patiently for the paperback version, but I’m not sure if there will be for this

Maine Road Next Please then finsbury Park 2002 I know it's not gonna happen but just imagine they would do a Blu-ray release of one of the earlier shows like the Chicago 1994 Promo Video or Earls Court 1995!

Anyone else noticed the lighting in the 2nd night is very Red. A lot of Red going on Yes and its a lot darker than the first night when they come onstage. Not sure if they came on slightly later time wise or if it was just the clouds from the rain

oasiscam29 birchy What difference does it make if its PAL or NTSC? This isn't a dig at you guys, I genuinely don't know. Would it be better quality if it was PAL? Seems a bit daft to convert it from the original format if it doesn't make it any better Usually if you convert video to a different format you lose quality. For example, PAL DVDs are 576 lines and NTSC only 480. And they have different frame-rates so PAL looks jerky if converted to NTSC. With modern software, they can smooth out the jerkiness and upscale the resolution, so you don't really notice any loss of quality. ... in NTSC countries, many/most TVs and disc players will not deal with a PAL signal at all (25Hz or 50Hz SD or HD), and won't display any picture when played. Thanks for the info! I didn't know that. If you watch the Live By The Sea DVD closely you can definitely spot that jerkiness/lag. Really puts me off watching it as I notice it every time!

But you can’t control the weather 🙂

Just finished reading about the first night. Really enjoying reading it. Not only unseen photos, but the story behind them are interesting.

Normally Don’t Look Back in Anger is always the show stopping memorable song of the night but at Knebworth it seems like it’s just another song in the set to me, especially after the stunning set of Whatever, CNS, WW & Masterplan all with string section and acoustics.
The blonde violinist on the right is really cute, the camera man certainly thought so as she gets a lot of screen time

Hi guys, quick question. Just wanted to know in your opinion what does Liam says in the middle of Columbia (Knebworth 1st night). For me has always been "ahhhh it's Knebworth, yeah!", but watching the documentary from the blu-ray with subtitles on in english for people with hearing impairment the translation was "ahhhh I slept with you!" So i'm confused, and listening to it over and over can't decide what he says! :-P

As for Don’t Look Back In Anger, it's a big classic these days and I think it has been since Oasis's 2000 days. In the 90s however it didn't seem so back then.

My favourite Liam stage chat is just after he announces IGBM on the Sunday - “You tw*ts at the front chill out, I’ll be down in a bit, I’ll come and say Hello 👋....just cool down man...*adopts cockney voice* take it f**kin easy”
That last bit I’m sure is him doing a Mick Jagger impression from the Altamont show in the film Gimme Shelter. For some reason I would never of imagined Liam was into the Stones at this point in the 90’s. I thought it was all Beatles for him. And the Stones love would of come about once Gem & Andy joined in later years.

Prefer the first night better lighting for the filming also
agree with another post 2nd night it's like the decided lets do 1 night for a release so more white lights and 2nd night lets light it for a rock show..
way 2 many red lights worst colour you could ever use while doing any filming.

Kind of a long shot I know but I'm trying to find a cassette of Knebworth 1996 but they weren't sold outside the box sets. Is there any chance that someone on here bought the box set but has no use for the cassette and would want to sell me theirs? Thanks!

A lot of the 90s live songs sounded way too rushed and suffered in making them "anthemic".. Obviously the song being around for so long and constantly gaining more and more attachment to various events just helped to grow it even more. Its beyond an anthem now, I'd honestly say more people know the words to that and Wonderwall than our national anthem.
