The difference, and the reason it's in NTSC, is that in NTSC countries, many/most TVs and disc players will not deal with a PAL signal at all (25Hz or 50Hz SD or HD), and won't display any picture when played. In PAL countries, pretty much all modern TVs will display either PAL or NTSC just fine.
Quality-wise, it would probably be best if the concerts came out at 1080p25 (or 1080i50) on the Blu ray and PAL on the DVDs, but then you have two different video formats on the same disc for the Blu Ray for the Theatrical film and the two concerts.
This is a worldwide release and needs to work everywhere. I have found that the video quality looks better when I have my Blu Ray player convert to 50Hz output though for the BD and DVD. A definite improvement. This applies to the concerts only. The documentary looks best at 23.976, as intended.

More thoughts on Knebworth………….. - Didn’t catch it the first few times but you can actually hear the fireworks going off at the very end of “I Am The Walrus”. - Really digging the old way of performing “Don’t Look Back In Anger”. Miss that urgency of it. Yeah, great version of Don't Look Back in Anger. It is a so much better song that way instead of the acoustic singer songwriter shit he's doing now most of the time. DLBIA in the 90's and Wembley 2000 is much better.
Yeah, I agree that the the proper live versions of Don't Look Back In Anger are much better than the acoustic stripped back version Noel's been doing since 2009.

I guess it makes sense to do that as I didn't realise that.

oasiscam29 birchy What difference does it make if its PAL or NTSC? This isn't a dig at you guys, I genuinely don't know. Would it be better quality if it was PAL? Seems a bit daft to convert it from the original format if it doesn't make it any better Usually if you convert video to a different format you lose quality. For example, PAL DVDs are 576 lines and NTSC only 480. And they have different frame-rates so PAL looks jerky if converted to NTSC. With modern software, they can smooth out the jerkiness and upscale the resolution, so you don't really notice any loss of quality. ... in NTSC countries, many/most TVs and disc players will not deal with a PAL signal at all (25Hz or 50Hz SD or HD), and won't display any picture when played. Thanks for the info! I didn't know that.

NTSC and PAL only refers to 525 and 625 line SD sources, with HD you’re just referring to the frame rate. With today’s upscalers and frame interpolation, you’d be very hard pressed to notice that it’s been converted from 50 to 60 … and any player that converts it back to 50 on the fly will do a worse job than the professional ones they’ve used to make the discs with.
One other thing I saw mentioned was 1080i vs 1080p. It will be 1080i because there’s interlaced video at some stage, I assume (haven’t seen it yet myself, still waiting for mine to arrive in the post). This won’t make any difference than if it was 1080p.
So 50 frames would have been better than 60 frames, but I doubt any of us would ever notice the difference, so I can’t say I’m too bothered.

Have watched night two so far, will watch the first night some time this week, but one thing I hadn’t picked up on so much until now: it’s so good to see Noel looking like he’s enjoying himself. The whole “I start the tunes in this band, can you play that? Can you…” bit is just so much fun. He hasn’t smiled as much in 25 years as he did in these shows. I thought the same thing when I saw it at the movies! Never seen him happy like that on stage before! He must have broken a mirror when frowning the next day.

Exactly. These are largely defunct analog broadcast standards and in the HD era matter very little to the viewer other than compatibility with equipment.

I've watched night one. The one thing I didn't enjoy was no close ups of Guigs. It just feels ridiculous/sad that it's like there's Noel, Liam, Bonehead, Whitey, and some guy to the far left on bass.
But I also loved seeing Noel enjoying himself and having actual facial expressions instead of just shoegazing. I really miss that guy.
Has anyone tried their rock candy? I've never had rock candy in that exact form before so I ordered a couple to eat and one to save. I liked it I guess. Like eating a thick candy cane.

Just a little thing that makes me smile.

I think when he says something to Ashcroft, maybe during Wonderwall

Think I'm going to watch the doc this weekend. I've watched it in a cinema and I loved it. I haven't had time to read my Knebworth book yet, but will do it around Christmas.

And I wish that Noel and Liam would sort things out between them.

For those looking for a download for both of the nights. It's somewhere on the internet. I'm not gonna share them, so don't ask for it via PM.

I prefer the first night of Knebworth above all the other concerts I've seen from Oasis. Just wow!

Its getting better man from night 1 is better than night 2. A lot clearer and i think liam forgets less words. Dont know why they didnt use that on the cd. This is probably the clearest version that exists of its getting better man now. Great song, sounds like the who during the solo in the middle. Ive always liked it but what a waste the album version was with all the noise that was added. Waste of a great song

Played the cd now 3 times i'm not a fan of the sound mix i feel the vocals have been pushed way down in the mix and also listen to when Noel speaks into the microphone sounds like his speaking down a telephone line
Few things id like to know is Radio 1 is listed as doing the recording mix on the night does that mean the band didn't record there own multi track recording or did they get BBC to do it ?
Disc 2 seems to have a different mix listen to my big mouth and it's getting better man why couldn't the whole cd like that with so much punch ? much more warmer sound compared to disc 1 sounds very harsh or bright in terms of sound !
I'm keen to hear what everyone else thinks ? maybe they had limitations but i feel the mix could of sounded lots better pretty disappointing !
The other thing we don't know is how much remixing liams voice has had but i feel Liam should of been lot higher in the mix and white's drums louder give it more thump

Well, finally I've got both nights. I think the color correction is very poor, especially the first night. The master tapes also very poor, considering the amount of money involved in production. I always thought it was shot with cinema cameras. Anyway... I don't like The Swamp Song cut nor Guigsy's close ups cut. But it's a great document by the way and I didn't remember how magical was the second night, that surprised me a lot.
