Bye Hancock, you won't be missed. Agreed. He had no choice he had to go, it was absolutely disgusting how he broke the Covid rules. Good bloody riddance and it's a shame that we can't get rid of the rest of this useless, lousy and inpomitant government altogether.

They know they need to social distance.. Why do they need their president to tell them to do it?? Maybe but he's supposed to be the president of Brazil and like all leaders he should be making rules to deal with this crisis. But again.... People know they should social distance, they don't need a president to tell them

It's horrendous and you're right it's an insane situation. The president of Brazil needs outing in my opinion as it seems that he just doesn't care. They know they need to social distance.. Why do they need their president to tell them to do it?? It's not at all that simple. People need to make enough money to live and if thereโs no support from the government you might have to go to work at a job where itโs not possible to distance without various changes being mandated โ like say at a market where there are no shields or masks or distanced lines as are present in other places with very high infections. Or you might have to take your chances on public transport. Or have to go to school or go to help your elderly parents. Brazil is also a country with populations who speak many different languages who may in fact not be getting enough information about how to prevent the spread. People canโt do this all on their own. Itโs what governments are supposed to do. But instead Bolsanaro has actively worked against any restrictions at all while thousands die each day. Charges have already been filed against him in the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity and they are well-deserved. Overall, social distancing alone is not the most important measure against Covid-19 โ mostly because we know now that the virus can travel further than anyone previously expected. But we also know by now exactly what works โ a mix of social isolation (not distancing), economic support so people can survive and rapid vaccination as soon as possible. None of that has happened properly in Brazil. Itโs certainly not the fault of everyday Brazilian people.

So the final stages of lifting the lockdown will go ahead on July 19th as expected. Let's hope that cases will start dropping by then .

The most restriction has been lifeted from today over here. It was weird to enter a post office without wearing a mask today. It felt really strange, but I'm already used to it. I still have to wear one quite a bit though, as I use public transport often. I have a couple of friends who insist on wearing it at least until they're fully vaccinated. Then they will CONSIDER not wearing it. It's their choice. Personally I'm happy to lose the mask, especially in this hot and humid weather.

Cases are going up in schools at the moment with many pupils being sent home to self isolate. Also, it's getting worse in Australia due to the Indian variant. I don't understand what's gone wrong with their vaccination programme as I know they did start to vaccinate people but it seems to have all gone pair shaped.

So Boris Johnson is upbeat about easing the last of the restrictions on July 19th. He says he's hoping that England will return as close as to pre-pandemic status quo as possible. Well, we'll have to see about that.

I read on the BBC news pages that doctors are calling for some measures to be kept in place like face masks when the rest of the lockdown restrictions are lifted and quite rightly so.

So face masks will become personal choice when the final lockdown resictions are lifted. What when cases are still going up, stupid.

So it's now been officially confirmed by Boris Johnson that face masks will be personal choice from July 19th and social distancing will be scrapped amongst other things. He says we've got to get used to living with this virus. Well, that's no excuse to make these changes about face masks and social distancing. It's pathetic. And, I think that we're all used to living with this virus by now. Watch cases go up even more after two weeks time then.

The face masks thing is splitting opinion yes, but the general idea of opening up fully makes sense I think. I believe the logic is, if we keep or re-impose restrictions, we will just be delaying this โexit waveโ into winter, where itโll hit much harder and overwhelm the health system. Thanks to vaccines and natural immunity, we arenโt far away from โherd immunityโ or something similar, so to let it spread now while itโs summer and the NHS can handle it, in order to reach herd immunity and hopefully have a safe winter, might the best approach. Imagine we kept restrictions, or tightened them (a horrible thing in itself) and then winter hits and things get worse anyway (as we saw happen last year, despite restrictions) then - due to winter being tough for the NHS anyway - they get hit with everything all at once. Itโs a bold move but it makes sense.

At least in Scotland they've got more scene about it and are keeping their face mask policy after their last restrictions are lifted in August.

Cases are going up again.
I understand why most things are open again, but this whole thing where people have to show QR codes at the door to prove they're vaccinated/tested negative isn't really going well. People send each other codes, people use false codes, etc.
In Enschede last weekend there were 200 cases from a night club.
Then again I don't understand why you'd go out to clubs now anyway.

I read on the BBC news pages that Covid cases in the UK are at their highest level since January and have risen above 30,000 for the first time since January official figures show. And, yet the useless Boris Johnson has defended the governments approach to easing England's lockdown. He's the worst PM we've ever had to suffer in more recent years anyway.

90% of the restrictions are lifted and the clubs and disco's are open since 2 weeks ago and here we go again. How stupid is that? It was getting so better until 2 weeks ago.

Yep, well the summer is here, our govs want us to spend money dont they ? The fall will like the last one, but seems like they all think like : "if you catch it, that's on you, deal with it" now. Sad that we have to come to this. But it was inevitable. Beware of climate change and world hunger next, your neighbor will kill you to survive.

Yeah, it's absolutely stupid. Honestly I don't know what's wrong with these governments, they're all as bad as each other by the sound of it.

I read on the BBC news pages that Euro 2020 could be the reason why Covid cases are up more in men than in women. I guess that's about right if they're gathering together in pubs to watch it.

I don't think it's not only the government to blame, but the people after all. I mean, who goes to a club/disco just a few hours after you got vaccinated? and gathering with all your friends, hugging each other etc? Use your brain, I would say.
