Stores are open again without having to make an appointment beforehand.
Yesterday I went for a quick round of errands around 9.10 as I imagined it would be very crowded in the afternoon. I had to go to the drug store and passed a popular budgetstore (for the Dutchies, it was the Action). The stores had been open for 10 minutes at that point, yet there was a line so long it went around the corner. Absolutely ridiculous.

I would (and always did) be standing in a queue at front of venues for hours, but not for Action FFS. No way that I would go to any shops this and coming weeks.

I don't go in non essential shops now and I only go out when I need to. Yesterday I had to go out up town to collect my medications. And, I wanted a bit of shopping but I never go in any of these clothes shops etc.

I've been invited to have my second Covid jab by text but all the appointments are for next Saturday morning. So I've booked it for 0940. Oh well, once it's done it's done. It'll 10 weeks next Thursday since I had my first one so that's about right. Hopefully I won't get any side effects but I'm expecting a bad arm again for a couple of days like I did the first time.

I read on the BBC news pages that some safeguards will still need to stay in place beyond June when the road map out of lockdown ends the foreign secretary has said. Well, I'll still be wearing a face mask at all times when I go out anyway and keep my distance as much as possible.

Marcos, hope you and your family are doing well! Hey Anna, Yes, we have been experiencing very difficult times since last year. It was fate that we had a genocide as President precisely in the worst health crisis of our generation. Words cannot describe how difficult it has been to live in Brazil in the last 14 months and with no signs of improvement while Bolsonaro is in power. Thank you very much for reminding of me! Hope you, your family and friends are all doing well aswell.

It's hard to imagine for us here in Europe how bad situation you and your nation have been facing for more than a year. Please stay safe and please update us that you and your family are doing alright!

In India I think that a national lockdown has been called. Well it's about time though and I can't understand why it didn't happen much sooner with the way things are there.

Packed terrace, quieing at front of non essential shops and booking holiday abroad for the Summer. Nothing for me yet and I miss none of them.

Sitting at a terrace despite the weather? Standing in line for half an hour just to get into the Action or the H&M in the pouring rain? No thanks, seems a bit desperate.

It IS embarrasing and desperate. While the number of hospitalized people isn't decreasing really, how on earth can you go to terrace just because they're open now? Covid 19 made me realise to think what others actually care and some people whom I've been working with for years disappoint me as they seem one of those people.

I read on the BBC news pages that one version of the Indian variant is a variant of concern here in the UK and it spreads more quickly than two other unidentified subtypes of the variant. This is worring news but hopefully it won't get too bad.

Well that's me done now I'm fully vaccinated, I've got a bit of a bad arm again though which was what I was expecting but not as bad as last time. I got soacked this morning walking right up to the place where they do the vaccines because it was pouring with rain but if I hadn't taken this appointment I would probably have been pushed down the cue again and I didn't want that. Besides even if I had another appointment it for another day it doesn't mean to say that it wouldn't rain again like it was for most of today.

I read on the BBC news pages I think last week or the week before that a bad arm is the most common side effect from the Covid vaccine and I think that a lot of people do get that afterwards. I'm fine other wise though.

My dad got vaccinated on Monday a week ago, but he was sick for a couple of days afterwards
Granted, this is a man who fainted after he accidentally cut himself while cooking, so perhaps that doesn't say much.

So the Covid level in the UK has been down graded to three and more restrictions are to be lifted which come into force from next Monday and Boris Johnson is due to reveal them tonight. But we'll see.

But we'll see. Vaccination works. It definitely does. I have people around me who want to wait and see whether they want to get vaccinated or not. The point is, do we have time to wait? No. Our government will announce a new restrictions tonight again. Some thing will be lifted such as zoo and thema park will re-open from next week and swimming poole and gym will, under certain restrictions, re-open. European countries are more and more re-open for upcoming holiday season. I see same things will happen like last year. Enjoy the Summer, then we'll have to pay the price in Autumn. Vaccination will make a big difference with it.

I don't understand why this vaccination process goes so slow. People are volunteering to help vaccinate. Yesterday I read a medical organisation (forgot which one) offered to let some of their employees volunteer and they never heard back. I would think they'd take what they can get. I mean, they started in January and not even half of the adults have been vaccinated right now.

But we'll see. Vaccination works. Well yes, it does. Infact I read in today's paper that the first two vaccines which were passed as safe to use have worked much better than expected according to a report. So that's good news . When I said we'll see I meant would Boris Johnson keep to his promise as he's full of empty ones .

Oh, I was just underlining what you said, not disagreeing with you at all (on Covid or Boris's empty promises.) Just amazed at how lucky we got that such an effective vaccine (more effective than many) could be created in such a short time. There are still some things that could go wrong in the year ahead as the brakes come off, and there's reasons to not go wild quite yet, but the outlook right now is good enough that I've even starting dreaming about seeing bands again ... feels good.

Yeah, I agree with you that it's great that we've been able to get vaccines so quickly and you're right some things could still go wrong. I mean for example these new strains which they keep finding are still a worry because they could find one in future which is resistant to the vaccines. Although they're trying to create vaccines which would work against any new strain which would be resistant to the vaccines which we've already got. But hopefully people will be sensible and not go over the top just yet.

Boris Johnson says he's anxious about the India variant which has already spread in certain areas and the government are looking at different options to tackle it including extra top up vaccines in the areas affected. Well, let's hope that they'll do something quick and won't wait to long for it to get out of control.

I read on the BBC news pages last night that Boris Johnson is concerned about the India variant and the full end of lockdown in June could be halted. But the people in areas like Bolton and Blackburn who haven't had the vaccine are being urged to do so.
